Keeps the Dogs Busy and Engaged
This definitely slows the dogs down a little at feeding times, and they seem to really enjoy the experience and challenge as well. We bought 2 of them so both dogs could have their own foraging experience at the same time. They are really engaged and focused as they hunt for their food in the deep plush mat. So far they are holding up well, even with aggressive biting and pulling on the “fibers”, to get the kibble bits from deep in the mat. We put them away after they finish, so as not to give them a chance to chew them up, as they are both still puppies (not small puppies though) and love to chew things. The suction cups really don’t work on anything other than a SUPER SMOOTH surface, like a polished granite counter top, or glass surface, but not on the relatively smooth tile surface in our mudroom. Fortunately they still stay in place with the nonslip material on the bottom.

Great easy to load and clean snuffle mat
Snuffle mats are wonderful in general as they promote sniffing, which lowers a dog’s pulse and promotes stress reduction. But not all snuffle mats are created equal. This is a great snuffle mat. It is very easy to load. I sprinkle treats or kibble over the mat, shake my fingers through it, and the treats sink to the bottom of the mat which promotes deep sniffing from my dog. Many other snuffle mats have adorable pockets and puzzle features that take a lot of time to put the treats into. This mat lacks the adorable factor, but is way more practical. It really mimics grass, which is nature’s snuffle mat. (FYI: If you can’t afford a snuffle mat you can throw your dog’s kibble or treats in the grass to achieve the exact same thing.)This mat is also easy to clean. Just throw it in the washer and then in the dryer. You’re supposed to remove the foam border when you wash and dry it, but I never do and it’s been fine.Some dogs will pick up the entire mat and shake the treats out instead of snuffling. There are suction cup attachments that can be added to keep the mat on the floor. However, many dogs (including my own) can pull the suction cups off of the floor. Luckily, my dog is happy to snuffle and doesn’t even think to pick up the mat. However, she will chew on the suction cups until they detach from the floor so we just don’t use them.I work in an animal shelter and have used and cleaned dozens of different kinds of snuffle mats. This is my favorite snuffle mat for easy and convenient use. Snuffle mats can be used to feed entire meals, but my favorite use for a snuffle mat is to reduce a dog’s excitement and/or stress level. When my dog becomes excited by something like fireworks or screaming children, I load up the snuffle mat with tiny treats and watch her sniff her way back to a calmer, more relaxed dog.

My giant rabbit enjoys this
I adopted a giant (13lb) rabbit and needed a way to keep her enriched. This mat has been a winner! I spread her pellets, a couple supplement tabs, and her daily greens on the mat twice a day. She deeply enjoys foraging through the mat and you can often find her laying down all comfy on top of the mat. The rabbit enjoys how warm this mat is, and it has become her bed.I like that this mat is easily machine washable and looks so fancy compared to the multicolored fleece mats that are typical. This is a great enrichment toy that has held up for a while now but be sure to supervise with exotic pets.

ITS SO AWESOME!!!
My Pitbull/Staffy hybrid is a little under 4 years old and he snorts like a pig! He also pretends he’s a hungry hungry hippo at feeding times because he likes to look away from his bowl as he’s chewing! This snuffle mat is very helpful, and my dog absolutely loves it! He has to work for his food which is already proven to be beneficial for dogs, and he’s able to actually savor the expensive kibble we get him 😭 the suction cups were GARBAGE. They didn’t stick AT ALL. Thankfully my dog didn’t need them since he didn’t try to flip the mat, but yeah— nonexistent suction. The mat is very soft and the fibers move freely so it’s easy for my dog to sift through the pad for the kibble. 8/10 recommend!!

Great little mat
My little basenji mix chewed up her first snuffle mat. This one has lasted quite a bit longer. We’ve had it for over a year and she doesn’t seem interested in chewing it up but she does engage and eat her meals from this mat. Very pleased with this purchase. For the price is more durable than several others I’ve purchased.

Suction cups
Only had used it a couple of times and the suction cups failed. Can’t get them to adhere anymore. Otherwise the mat keeps my wee boy occupied and having him toss it around I suppose is great fun!!!

This is far from the first snuffle mat that I have bought for my dog. it seems more robust. The others started to look very tired very fast. Of necessity snuffle mats get dirty quickly. this one is more robust, and doesn’t look as if it has been dragged around the fields after having been washed. the more upright nature of the individual ‘fingers’ means that treats are more easily hidden.This mat is very much enjoyed by my inquisitive, perpetually hungry/activity seeking cocker.

Good to keep small dogs busy when you can’t be with them

Ordered this on suggestion from breeder that it would keep puppy engaged for periods of time. The surface appears better than others we’ve seen in pet stores. One problem is that the rounded edge on the mat has a cheap plastic zipper. Puppy was able to cause zipper to peel open to reveal something that neither of us would expect in any puppy toy or other product – a ring of styrofoam. Took puppy only minutes to have styrofoam strewn around entrance way. Our concern was puppy ingesting this. We have pet insurance but items like styrofoam don’t break down and can result in surgery for blockages in digestive system.
