This is a flying disk, not a chew toy folks!
I just purchased a second one of these after having one for two years. The prior one was lost in the woods, but held up fine over a couple of years of playing and hiking. My dog loved it so much that he would carry it in his mouth for miles as we hiked. (Until he dropped it somewhere and we couldn’t find it.)I don’t think this is designed to be a chew toy. It’s a flying disk that dogs will love to catch and fetch because of how soft it is. It’s not the best flyer for sure; I’m mean it’s all floppy and benefits from a good spin. But, if you have a “frisbee dog” like I do, it’s great because you don’t have to worry about a hard knock against your dog’s teeth. We use it all winter long in the freezing weather – try that with a hard plastic disk! So, if you are looking for something for your dog to tear into – or play tug O’ war with – look elsewhere. This isn’t light weight. It’s not chew proof. But unless you’re treating it very poorly, it will last for year.Lastly, does this thing smell strongly of rubber? Particularly when it’s new? Absolutely. Who cares? That odor will diminish – and my dog uses the smell to find it in tall grass.Kong makes other tougher and thicker disks – if you need one that is tougher, check out the red one.

Why did they change this disc?!?!?
What are they thinking, this used to be a lightweight but durable rubber disc that was easy to throw a long way (not very easy, but once you got the hang of it, it was very easy.) NOW this thing flies like a brick in a headwind. Harder to throw and does NOT go very far at all!Kong! Not all dogs eat frisbees for lunch. Some actually like to chase them long distances. Bring back the old version with 1/2 the weight please!

    Wonderful Frisbee
I have owned many Kong products along with the other Kong Flyer (red). First off I want to say that there is a learning curve to throwing these. Since they are considerably heavier than a normal plastic “flyer” (they are a rubber like material) they dont fly the same, but once you get the hang of it they are much easier to throw than the light plastic ones. I have a German Shepherd who is not a huge chewer but he does like to chew stuff. The red flyer was his favorite toy and he loved playing with it. Over the couple months it began to wear away slowly and pieces would come off. Now the entire outside ring of the old one is missing making it a much much smaller flyer than it was.So we decided to try the Extreme flyer. The extreme versions of Kong products smell like old tires but it eventually goes away. This flyer is lighter and thinner than the red one and thus a little easier to throw and much more pliable than the red one. The extreme flyer has lasted many months now with no issues and no signs of falling apart. The flyer performs excellent and if you have any qualms about buying a 12 dollar flyer, you will most likely spend that on 99 cent Frisbee’s over and over and eventually have spent that anyway. This is a long term Flyer for my dog. Love it!

Not What It Once Was – Returning My Purchase
The most recent purchase of this was a major disappointment! We have purchased the iteration prior to this several times and loved it. The previous version would fly terrific, and was gentle on our dogs mouth.Shame on Kong for making significant changes to what was the best frisbee for competitive disc dog competitions. The new version is hard and stiff (not completely rigid, but not the soft rubber it once was), flies mediocre at best, and a complete down grade. I do not recommend purchasing and will be returning my recent purchase.

was even shorter-lived than the regular red kong flyer!!!!
I got this for my 70 lbs lab mix. He is a rowdy guy, and frisbees are his favorite toy in the whole world. He can put teeth marks in regular frisbees with one bite, and has pieces taken out of them in no time. We tried the red kong frisbee, which actually lasted for a few play sessions at the dog park (he doesn’t get to play with the frisbee in the house, or else it’d be dead before we’d even get to throw it around). He really loved to step on one end, and pull on the other end with his mouth. Needless to say, eventually it started splitting and was on its way to the trash slowly from there. Now, just on opening this flyer I was really taken aback. It feels much more flimsy than the regular red flyer (in fact, it is folded in half in the packaging). I wanted to try it out before reviewing. I’ve tried it, and it has been torn apart even faster than the red one.The longest lasting frisbee so far has been this previous fire hose triangle flyer, but I haven’t found that online (was in a pet supply store). This was not really very strong, and I was disappointed since the traditional kong extreme treat-stuffer has lasted a long time. Oh well. I don’t really recommend it if you have a strong dog. If you don’t have a frisbee-destroying pup, I still recommend the red flyer, which is a few bucks cheaper usually.UPDATE: I’ve found a frisbee that lasts! The Jawz hyperflite is a great, durable frisbee. Only downside: doesn’t float (we lost the first one so far to Lake Washington, rather than my dog’s over-exuberant playfulness… lasted for months though!)

Eu pensei que estivesse comprando o flyer mais resistente, pois não vi nada explicando que este fosse mais macio….

  7. Amazon Customer

These dog Frisbees are well worth the money. They are easier to toss than light plastic, they travel better and way easier for dogs to get their teeth around to pick up.

  8. Ibrahim
