WOW! Cleaner & Softer Than EVER!
Wow! Great natural product and great customer service to back it up. I wrote immediately after giving one of my dogs a bath, and Melissa had rapid responses and non-boilerplate emails. I was initially concerned because my Brittany got sort of waxy/sticky when I began rinsing him and his loose hairs were clumping a bit more than normal. Then when I was drying him, I tried to brush him with a Furminator and he was extremely hard to brush through as his hair was even more waxy/sticky.BUT THEN… once he was completely dry, he was (and still is) the softest he’s ever been… even softer than when he was a puppy. For a Brittany, he’s always had sorta coarse hair, but this stuff is the real deal! Another thing to mention about him is he has very sensitive skin and often breaks out with little bumps and recently had his first hot spot, so I knew I had to find something good to use. I’m an instant believer, even after my initial over-reaction to the waxiness, but my understanding is the essential oils will interact differently with each hair type, so this could vary. The other nice thing is that he was a lot dryer than normal immediately out of the bath where not as much water seemed to stay stuck on him and he dried completely very quickly. Less towels and less mess.To prove to myself that I believed in the product, the next day I washed my Long Haired Weimaraner and had similar results, though she didn’t get as waxy/sticky and her hair didn’t clump off as much. I didn’t even attempt to brush her while drying until she was completely dry. I now have two super clean dogs without all of the harsh chemicals and they are STILL super soft a week later. I took them to the outdoor mall that allows dogs this past weekend and everyone that stopped to pet them commented on how soft they were! My Long Haired Weimaraner is naturally very soft and often receives these comments, but now she’s EXTREMELY soft! My Brittany never received a comment about how soft he was and I always wondered why he never felt that way, even after previous baths. Now it’s a battle for softness supremacy!Smell? Not really. I thought with all of the essential oils that they might smell like Woodstock, but they just smell like clean dogs! Only the slightest hint of oils comes through if you really get in there and give a sniffy-sniff.Oh! And a little goes a long way! I can see this bottle lasting a long time between two dogs… then again, I might want to wash them even more now. I previously used Vet’s Best and think it’s a very good alternative, but as long as there’s 4-Legger, there’s no comparison for the end results. I hope my detailed review will help someone else make a purchase with some insight as to what they might expect, though there’s a good chance your dog won’t be as waxy as mine were.I’ve attached a picture and video. They really were very curious about the new bottle of shampoo. And yes, my Weim is a princess and loves a good sap day. 🙂

Great shampoo especially for dry, itchy skin & allergies!
This is a great shampoo for my terrier with skin problems. Essential oils are very beneficial for the skin. I use them on my skin. The shampoo is very thin, but it really lathers up well & smells wonderful. Don’t be alarmed when you see a grayish oily scum in the rinse water. It is from the essential oils. The dog’s coat may feel a little oily when you rinse it, but be patient as the coat will feel so soft once it drys. Once I blow dry my dog, his fur fluffs up & is coat is so soft! The essential oils hydrate his skin & help with his itching. I also spray argan oil on his coat & massage it in between shampoos. He loves the massage & the argan oil helps his dry, itchy skin. I love the fact that it is organic. I have to be very careful of everything I use on his skin. I can no longer use any steroid products on him as he developed diabetes 2 years ago (probably due to all the steroids he was on for over 10 years. I won’t make that mistake again!) I have actually been able to manage his skin issues quite well without the steroids. I wish I had the knowledge I now have 10 years ago & I would have never went the steroid route. I did not know any better & the vet recommended it. High quality food & organic shampoos have helped tremendously. I give him very little treats now as most of them are loaded with fillers, preservatives, salt, & sugar. He only gets a high protein meat jerky treat that is naturally preserved with plant extracts. His allergy issues are better controlled & he is quite healthy overall now, even though he is over 14 years old & diabetic.

Excellent shampoo that is nontoxic and works great!
I’ve used many shampoos but this is hands down the best! I love how it’s so pure with very simple ingredients and smells incredible! I’ve used the cedar wood and also the lemongrass. Both are very strong when you apply but after it’s much more pleasant and subtle. The lather is top notch you don’t need to use too much. My dog gets constant compliments on how soft her fur is and I always say it’s her shampoo it’s the best! I went on the company site and they are legit clean non toxic ingredients, I worry about environmental toxins and I use this daily to clean her paws to make sure we don’t have any toxic residue from our walks. No itching no dryness, excellent excellent shampoo. Highly recommend!

    Love it
I bought this shampoo about a year ago. It’s wonderful. My dogs coat is so soft and silky after bathing them. U don’t need much, it goes along way and suds up really nice and washes off nice and easy. The dogs smell amazing after. However, the last time I bought it, it doesn’t look the same, doesn’t smell the same and it doesn’t leave the dogs smelling fresh. So not sure what happened or if the ingredients were changed but pretty bummed.

    Smells great and lathers well
My dog’s fur is a little hydrophobic, but this still lathers up nicely, though I think I need to use a bit more. One thing I noticed is that my dog still smells like wet dog and his fur is very tangled and doesn’t brush well when he is still a little damp. But once he is bone dry his fur fluffs up and gets really soft and he smells fantastic. Maybe this is just my dog or maybe it’s the natural nature of the shampoo. but it is my experience. I love this shampoo because I know it’s good for my pup’s coat and again at the end of it all he smells fantastic. and is fluffy and cuddly.

    Excellent, gentle dog shampoo
For as watery as it seems, this lathers better than any other shampoo I’ve ever used. As a result , I use a lot less of it and the bottle lasts a lot longer. It’s appropriate for sensitive skin and leaves a light, natural fragrance.

Love the smell, make me want to use it myself :)Dog seems to be less itchy, but still scratching himself.

  10. Piper

Leaves a slight lemongrass scent which is not too strong and just smells fresh and clean. It lathers better than other shampoos I’ve tried. It’s very watery but you don’t need a lot. I will purchase again.

There are lots of shampoos for dogs with claims that they are all natural, plant-based etc. But when you research the actual ingredients, they aren’t always as benign as they first appear. Our dog’s wonky immune system has resulted in allergies and skin issues, so it’s important that we use as few chemicals and medicated products as possible on her. This 4-Legger organic shampoo fits the bill perfectly, and I’ve yet to find another that has such quality ingredients, without unecessary additives. It’s not a cure for our dog’s allergies, it doesn’t claim to be, but it’s cleansing, calming, gentle on our dog’s skin, and leaves her coat in beautiful condition. The gorgeous smell of lemongrass is a bonus. Don’t let the fact it’s not a thick, gloopy shampoo fool you. That’s simply the lack of added “iffy” thickeners. We just add some to warm water in a jug then pour on, lather up and rinse.

I can honestly say this makes a difference to my dogs coat- when i used it, the next day his coat was looking the best it ever has, it was so soft and his skin irritations weren’t as bad! The effects aren’t permanent his itching did come back midway through week two after his wash, but it definitely made a difference in the short term, and anything that helps my poor itch German Shepherd is a plus from me!
