THE BEST PURCHASE
I was agonizing over which sized mesh to get and did so much research. 2.8 mm is the correct size.I use multiple different brands of litter: arm and hammer, fresh step, and other brands here and there. This has worked for them all EXCEPT arm and hammer super scoop, I would size up. It holds onto too much of the original litter, imo.The problem lies in that the largest limestone chunks in the litter are also the same size as the smallest pee chunks. So you lose a couple pieces of litter per scoop. But if you use this scoop you never have to throw out your litter. It is unusable as a scoop on its own. It’s incredibly dusty and also sheds incredibly small pee chunks. You must use your original scoop and then use this one. I only skim the top of the litter with this, in the spot where I scooped. When I first got this, I was horrified at how many pee chunks were in my litter. I’m obsessed with litter box cleanliness, I would tediously pick out all the chunks I saw. But this scooper showed me that my litter was actually 15-20% pee chunks. I use mid-range litter.I think that if you hit a clump at the wrong angle, it sheds little clumps? Cause to this day, this scooper will pick up surprise chunks.I love it, my cats love it, it’s saved me so much money. I use a litter genie and both of my scoops fit in the scooper-holder. I genuinely think every cat owner should have one.

Keeps litter box cleaner
This works great to sift out even small clumps. It does take a bit of shaking to get the clean litter out, but definitely better than the traditional scoop to keep the box cleaner.

Perfect for fine silica cat litter!
Took me awhile to find the right sized mesh for fine silica cat litter. Works beautifully. Gets into corners. If I notice box has just been used, this scoop will lift a pee ball before the silica absorbs it all, so I can dispose of it vs raking it in. Helps the litter last longer & my pocketbook is happy for that!Took 1-star off bc it wasn’t packaged great so arrived a bit smooshed. I gently bent it back just a little…didn’t want to risk breaking. Doesn’t prevent it working.

Holes too small
I got this because I wanted a scooper not made out of plastic , breaking easily and with huge holes where non clumped liter would still be in the box. With this the holes are so small that it takes time to get fresh liter to go back in the box, which means you are scooping fresh liter too. Had to make the holes bigger & it still takes a bit of timeIn the positive side it is well made, handle is strong & it won’t snap easily

Stout, nice sized handle for scooping
Nice sized, but handle is not too small like a lot of scoops. Wire mesh is a good size to filter out all the solids, but let the litter fall back through. Appears to be strong enough to aggressively run along bottom of pan as well.

Works well with some litters
The search for the ideal litter and scoop combination continues. We have a multi cat household and use a variety of different litters in our various litter boxes. This Stainless Steel Mesh Heavy Duty Kitty Litter Scoop with 2.8mm Holes worked with varying effectiveness in the litters we are currently using. It works very well with the standard clay litter. The mesh is small enough that soaked litter can be removed without scattering soggy bits all over the box. You do have to shake it a bit too much to sift the solid waste from the clean litter. It worked great at sifting the solid waste from the clean litter with the lightweight clumping clay litter. It was also effective at removing clumped urine that is stuck to the bottom of the box, although I did have to wipe the sticky residue that remained on the scoop. It did not do well however, with the diatomaceous earth pebbles litter. The “pebbles” are too large to sift through the mesh and that stuff is too expensive to be tossing out clean litter with the waste. The scoop seems pretty sturdy and is a bit narrower than most litter scoops. The mesh does make it a bit harder to clean if you don’t wipe stuck litter off right away.

Steel Mesh Scoop Freshens Up Any Box Of Cat Poop
Hey, it’s a kitty litter scoop! I neither expect this to be made to the highest standard, nor do I need it to be. It is, however, well made and fully functional, with a handle that has a comfortable grip. And that’s all I could have asked for in a scoop such as this. It works perfectly and the steel mesh is durable and looks like it will hold up. Bonus: there’s a cute little cat icon on the handle! (Not shown in the image on the product page.)

If you are like me and the little bits left by the usual litter scoops drived you crazy. This item is for you.I use a large scoop to remove most of the dirty litter and then use this to take out the little pieces that makes your litter smell bad faster.Get it

If you’re sifting your horse bedding pellets which you use for cat litter, this scoop is for you.The spaces are small enough to let all the dust through while still keeping smaller chunks out.The quality looks pretty good and durable, and it makes cleaning litter-boxes easier for us.But of course, because the spaces in between are much smaller, we probably have to clean this more often and it likely won’t be as easy to clean compared to simpler constructions.

So in general, I don’t plan on using this as my daily scoop – the standard ones with the slats are a lot quicker to clean the litter box but I got this specifically to dig out those little small pieces that inevitably stay behind. We use Arm and Hammer Clump and Seal litter, and its size is great for this scoop. The mesh is about 3.0 x 3.7 mm. It does take longer of course to sift the litter through but it’s so satisfying to be able to get those little pieces out and thus make the litter overall last longer before it needs to be switched out.
