Very loud.
It definitely moves on its own, but I think my cats are more startled than eager to play. It’s extremely loud and its movements are kind of aggressive? If your cata enjoy the sound of plastic constantly smacking the floor, then maybe they’ll enjoy it. I wish it was more quiet, and maybe smaller (the ball is pretty large).

I have five cats, and they have a plethora of toys. Eventually they get bored with the same ol’ same ol’, and this one had everyone’s attention lol! Love that I have something I can pull out of their toy box to spark their attention and prevent kitty boredom. I have low pile carpet in my house, along with a shag carpet in living room, and hard surfaces. This thing went through it all without a problem!
