Very well made but takes awhile for kittens to get used to it
This is a very sturdy and well made cat scratcher but my kittens didn’t really warm up to it. I think it needs to be roughed up a bit (it is very smooth compared to cardboard) so I have scratched on it lightly with a fork. It is now our backup scratcher.

My cat doesn’t use it as much as her old scratcher
I began buying the cardboard cat scratchers for my Bengal cat roughly one year ago. She has vertical sisal scratchers in our living room but I wanted something to put out in our sunroom for her. She really liked the cardboard ones but I was starting to get tired of having to vacuum every other day because the little cardboard bits that came off of it. So I thought getting her this one would be a good idea-it cost more but I thought it wouldn’t be messy and I probably wouldn’t have to replace it as often as the cardboard ones. So far she seems ok with it. I think the mat material isn’t as easy for her to claw as the cardboard one was-but she seems to like the bigger size and I positioned it against our sofa-so she has a mini ramp up to her seat on the couch now. Our cat is elderly and a little over weight-so getting her furniture that is designed close to the floor is the main thing I consider now. I will probably order her a new cardboard floor scratcher because this one isn’t quite living up to it. It does look a lot nicer and I love the size and sturdiness of it though.

Took awhile

Easy to put together and turns out pretty sturdy
This cat scratcher does require some assembly to put together, but it’s not very difficult to do and doesn’t take very long. I was able to put it together in about 20 minute or so. The kit includes a small screwdriver, which is all you’ll need, though a slightly larger/nicer screwdriver may help. The assembly process basically works out to inserting a few screws, then applying velcro tape on the assembled frame and the sisal mat and using that to stick the two together. It would be nice if the mat was a couple of inches longer, as the length is pretty much the exact minimum needed if you stretch it tight, but it does work.My cats, however, haven’t been a big fan of this cat scratcher, at least so far. They seem to prefer cardboard. I’m not going to hold that against this scratcher, though, as I think that’s just the preference of my cats: there’s plenty of cats that prefer sisal over cardboard. If your cat prefers cardboard, this probably won’t change their mind, but otherwise this is a pretty decent quality scratcher.

Very sturdy
This is a very sturdy scratching post. Fairly easy to put together. I placed it near the old messy cardboard one, but they aren’t using it. I did put catnip on it, but still no go. Hopefully they eventually will try it. Cats!!!

Good Looking Scratcher, Easy Assembly
The scratcher comes well equipped with all parts needed and a screwdriver (shown in a photo). Assembly instruction doesn’t have wordings, but color images are sufficient enough for a novice like me to get it done in 20 min. That’s how easy assembly processes are. Putting wooden pieces together is a breeze. Keep in mind that you need to leave the last wooden rod out (where it connects a 90 degree frame), so you can slide wooden board into slots. A tricky part is to attach adhesive backing Velcro strips onto the board. There are a total of 6 Velcro Strips, 2 along the length sides and 4 across the width of sisal mat. Tips. 1) wear gloves. 2) Start attaching Velcro strip on a length side first, then work your way to other strips and make a pencil marking on the board. That will help making Velcro alignment easier. Or you can simple accurately measure Velcro Strips position on a sisal mat and use it as a guide.It’s a thoughtful of manufacture to supply 6 felt strips for anti-scratch protecting your floor and wall. Did I mention that it looks good and sturdy? The cats love it.

Well made, but not functional
Very well made, but out of balance, as my cats knocked it over immediately, and that was the end of that. Couldn’t get them interested in the Sisal fabric. Unfortunately, they like the messy cardboard scratch pads so I guess I’ll have to invest in a new vacuum cleaner!
