My cats love it! It definitely helps keep the claws maintained so they don’t get stuck on stuff, or scratch up my floors. I like that it’s reversible. It comes with a separate bag of catnip which is really strong and gets my kitties in a playful mood. After playtime my cat even enjoys napping on this thing (see photo).Its a great inexpensive multifunction cat product! I highly recommend it.

I don’t know why, but my cat loves this curved version. She prefers it over any flat version. She doesn’t need the dried catnip, which generally just works it way through the cardboard baffles and ends up in the carpet.

Wide, Sturdy, Economical Scratcher
I have 5 large adult rescued feral kitties (3 of my own and 2 fosters). To prevent them from damaging my furniture I keep lots of scratchers or scratching pads around and these kitties make full use of them. Since I go through a lot of scratchers in a short time, I look for a brand like this one that balances a low price, with the largest widest size (because these cats are mostly large and heavy). The scratcher must be durable and of a good quality that will last a long while and the inner part that they pull their claws on must be firm and reversible. Other features that this one contains that I always look for is included catnip (this one includes my cat’s favorite Cosmic Catnip) and an outer packaging design that does not stand out, does not have tassels, and that blends with the surroundings so it isn’t too noticeable (the condo association prefers no cats). This brand has a very light looking pattern that hides it a bit. There are one or two cheaper brands but they don’t last as long as this one does and they don’t have all the features that I’ve mentioned.Nov. 2018 update: I’ve been ordering this “Our Pets…” brand of cat scratcher yearly since 2014 and they are still great and have maintained a high quality so I still consider it a 5 star product. Each scratcher lasts a little over a year despite heavy use by 4 rescued feral cats. I had 5 but 1 passed at an old age and the 2 that I reported as fosters have been adopted by me. All 4 still claw them daily and play with or take naps on them too. Note: The original packet of catnip delivered with each scratcher and sprinkle on the top of it only lasts me a little more than a month and after that I purchase dried catnip on-line and periodically sprinkle more on each scratcher to encourage my kitties to keep using them and not the furniture. This procedure and product works fine.

This is a really great scratcher; I would say well worth the money. It held up for a year with one cat, and then an additional 4 months with two cats. I just bought a second one. My feline overlords LOVE it. My only quibble is that the sticky tape they give you to hold the pieces together is ridiculously weak. However, it is really not a big deal to grab some super glue or whatever and reinforce the thing. Overall, thumbs up, this is a winner!

How you save your furniture
I have this or something like it in every room of my house. Thanks to this my cats do not scratch my furniture. Once they are worn out, I just toss it and get a new one. Happy cats, happy human, happy wallet.

Great Horizontal Floor Cat Scratcher
My mother recently got a new kitten, and for the first time had to be concerned about where he might be interested in clawing, so in order to prevent damage before it was liable to happen and to also encourage good kitty manners for scratching, I helped her pick out a variety of scratching posts, stands, and scratchers so that he had a variety to choose from.This particular one was one of his two favorites. It’s 18.1 x 10.1 x 1.2 inches and isn’t much to look at, but it works nicely as a horizontal floor scratcher. The packaging also included some catnip, which helped to entice my mom’s kitty to check it out. It’s quite wide and is made of durable cardboard. As the cat scratches, the cardboard slowly breaks down, and so there may be some loose pieces over time, but we’ll gladly take that over damaged furniture!Cats have all sorts of different preferences for scratchers, and no two are alike, but I can say that after about four months of use, this is easily the most used scratcher in the house, and so I would highly recommend considering it for your own home if you’re trying to give your own kitty some scratcher options.I am a longtime Amazon Prime customer who enjoys writing reviews in my free time. my cats like cardboard
I will not declaw a cat and these days I keep them inside all the time so no handy tree for shredding. I had a Siamese mix boy who ignored sisal, carpet & upholstery to scratch on corrogated cardboard (and enjoyed a sprinkle of catnip at the same time). None of my cats have ever used sisal or a purpose built carpet scratcher although installed carpet or throw rugs were very enticing. Pea brained oriental shorthair boy noticed the fun of nip and became my first OSH to be attracted to catnip AND use the %*+&# scratcher! I have peabrain and new girl Siamese mix who will both work over the scratcher, enjoy some nip and almost completely leave the rugs & carpet alone.Too bad cats are so contrary that what one loves another will regard as insulting. My cats are average sized, 10 lbs, but the OSH is long & lean. He is able to get in a good shredding on this scratcher, as does the shorter but chunkier girl. I still catch one or the other having a go at the carpet but no damage – they save serious shredding for cardboard. For the price it’s worth a try and don’t forget to add some catnip.Other furniture saving tricks we have learned: microsuede or real suede. Doesn’t seem to attract claws. Cover box springs with dust ruffles. No looped carpet. And if one cat likes cardboard then another is bound to see what he might be missing.

For cats who like cardboard scratching posts, this is an excellent choice.For several years, I bought another brand (Catit) and just assumed that one month’s use was all that could be expected. When the other brand was unavailable, I ordered this one instead. I’ve been amazed at how durable it is. I just changed the first post today, after FIVE months, making it a far more economical choice.I’ll stick with this brand from now on.

I thought this scratcher might be a little bit difficult for my cats to use but they love it. Roll around on it, rub their faces off the end that sticks up and even rock back and forth on it while scratching.I’ll probably be ordering a couple more when they wear through this one.
