    Comparison between various nail grinders
I am going to attempt to offer a comparison of the various dog nail grinders since we have purchased several over the years.First of all, The video makes it sound louder than it is in real life. This thing is SO QUIET and has NO vibration and is incredibly lightweight!I was extremely skeptical because we have been through so many nail grinders for our dogs including an actual Dremel, a Pedipaw, and the Oster brand. Up until now, the Oster was our favorite but the protective cover makes it extremely hard to get your dogs nails into the openings. There are 3 openings on the cover but none of them are the right size AND the cover is so far away from the grinding wheel that you really have to separate and shove the dogs toes down into the holes. If you take the cover off, it can grab hair around the spinning head and yank it out, which is also the danger with the Dremel. They are also bulky and hard to hold. You also have to hold the tool facing one direction otherwise the nail jumps and catches on the spinning wheel making it painful to the dogs. So, it is fine when you’re doing one side of their feet but it’s so hard to try to hold the tool facing one direction under their belly in order to get the other side of their feet. The spinning head also overheat the dogs nail really fast, which creates pain and heat quickly. You have to bounce it on and off so that the nail doesn’t get too hot. This machine is very lightweight! VERY quiet, and has almost no vibration. We have 4 dogs. 2 are small Yorkies and 2 are large rough collies. We needed something that could handle both. The protective cover on this machine is open enough to accommodate both sizes of nails with an opening on top of the spinner for the small dogs nails also without having to hold their toes so far apart and shoving the nail down through a hole like the other machines. The cover is very close to the grinding wheel so you don’t have to separate the toes. Taking off the protective cover is not safe with Yorkies that have long hair. If it bounces and grabs any hair, it WILL rip it out with the other machines. So this one is nice because the cover can be on but it is closely set to the spinner that you can reach very tiny nails into it. The cover is removable also, but it isn’t necessary to remove it in order to reach the nails. The opening on the top, flat side of the spinner is designed to fit small dogs nails and hold them in place. It works extremely well and it makes it so that you can hold the machine facing directly towards the nails so you don’t have to worry about the spinner spinning in the wrong direction and you don’t have to hold it strangely and uncomfortably in one direction under the belly to reach the feet on their left sides. My little dogs would rather pull their legs out of socket than get their nails trimmed so it’s always been a huge fight. But this machine is very fast, very quiet, with almost no vibration at all. It is smooth as silk and very, very fast. You don’t have to push much and it is so fast that you don’t get the heat built up from friction like we did with the other grinders. The dogs allowed us to grind their nails with very little argument. The opening on the protective cover on the side of the grinding wheel is large enough to do our big dogs nails. You can spin the cover around so that the opening is in a place that makes the grinder easy to hold. It also made quick work of grinding their nails as well. With the larger dogs without long hair, the cover can be removed also. The grinding wheel ground down the nails on both large and small dogs very quickly, smoothly, and without excessive friction heat. Since it is quiet with very little vibration, the noise doesn’t have them all running to hide before we even began. They all tolerated it very well. It didn’t create vibration in their feet so they were much less nervous and frightened. One final feature that I didn’t expect to matter at all is the light. I didn’t think that the light would do anything but it actually shines through the nail and helps you see where the quick is, which is a major benefit and more valuable than just having the area lightened up.Grinding our dogs nails has always been a huge fight and miserable for the dogs but this makes the job much more comfortable, quiet, and quick. Having the openings in the protective cover so close to the grinding wheel, having it rotate to help you get a good angle no matter where you are holding your dog, the quickness and smooth grinding, the light weight of the whole machine, and the light make this worth the extra $10.I’m SO impressed and SOOOO HAPPY and so are my dogs! Excellent machine so far. There are extra soft abs extra hard grinding wheels available for replacement which isn’t necessary but I think I will buy them to make the job even faster. Absolutely excellent product that I’m very glad I found! I would highly recommend it!

    Best nail grinder ever
I don’t leave a lot of reviews. But I had to for this Lucky Tail nail grinder. This nail grinder is absolutely AWESOME! First off I will say if you use it, it will take time. Not a quick grind and go. It has 2 speeds to use. It will grind a big dogs nails but it will take longer then for a small dogs nails. But the time it takes to grind down each nail has been a more relaxing experience for me then clipping my dogs nails. My dogs have always been the run and hide, and very uncooperative with this chore. not to mention a lot easier on my back because I had to bend certain ways to acuminate the dogs position. LOL My 1 and a half year old Chihuahua took to it really fast. (2nd time he came to me as wanting to have his nails done!) My bigger dog who is 6 years old is still adapting. But I have no fear that she will soon realize there is no pain involved. She tolerates it a little bit at a time still, She has had her quick nipped a few times from clipping them by both me and the vet. So she is gun shy with her nails. I used it on her 3 times now, but I am able to do her nails better and longer each time we set aside to do them. I love that the protective cover on the grinder part used to grind the nail has 2 places for the nail to be inserted to get grinded. One on the side , one on the top. You can also take this protective cover off and use it as a bare grinder. But I like the cover over the grinder. Then there is a protective cap to put on the whole grinder itself when not in use. If your dog has a lot of hair on their paws you need too trim that hair before using because the grinder or it will grab up that hair and get it caught up in the grinder, if your dog yanks his paw away there is not safety turn off, the grinder will keep pulling that hair until you shut it off or it cuts the hair off. I have a older Shih Tzu I have to be careful with him. Nothing happened with my dog, but the grinder did get caught in a blanket I put down and it did not shut off. It made me aware of what could happen. This nail grinder is so quiet and the vibration is extremely low and mild. I did interduce it to my dogs without using it for a few days before I actually started using it on them. They were not freaked out at all. But I took my time to make sure they were use to the sound and vibration anyway. I also love how smooth it make their nails and how they look when finished. All in all it took me 15-25 minutes or so each dog. Compared to drama I had before, LOL I no longer have to have my husband help hold them to do their nails, no fighting to keep their paw in grip, no dog getting away to hide. We can sit on the sofa and watch TV while doing it because it is cordless, you can’t even really hear the grinder going with the TV on, and barely feel it. Grant that it makes a powder from the nail grinding, easily vacuumed up with a hand held vacuum when done, (that my dogs do not like at all. LOL) or just lay a old blanket or something like down to clean up the mess if doing it inside. I have not had it run out of charge while doing all 3 of my dogs in one sitting. 1st time took about a couple of hours on and off. So that is a plus that it stayed charged in that time. I did have to stop a lot to see how close to the quick I was, some of my dogs nails are the very black kind, so this was a lot of why it took so long. I did purchase extra grinders, one smooth and one rough. but the one that this grinder came with is still good. I just wanted back ups on hand. I hope if you purchase this grinder that you will have a positively good experience with it as I am. I am very glad and relived I decided to give this Lucky Tail nail grinder a try. It has made my dogs and I have whole lot less stress doing this chore.

TAKE THE SCARE OUT OF PET CARE
Less than a month ago I got rescued. She’s a mid size two year old hound. The things that rescued pets survive are heart wrenching. Most are either abandoned or lost or just dealt a bad hand. Every day is a challenge to care for my beloved pooch. She’s a little nervous around noisy tools so I wasn’t sure this grinder would be acceptable to her. As directed by the manufacturer, we’ve been “pretending” for a while so that she might get accustomed to the “feel” of the tool. The tool is surprisingly quiet and nearly vibration free. So far so good. The tool charged quickly and hasn’t needed to be recharged yet. The ergonomic design makes for ease in control. The light is great for focusing on each individual nail. The shape and design of the grinder head is ideal for a good cut. Using a hand tool has a big risk of cutting too short and having an uncontrolled bleed. I am confident using this tool that I will not harm my pup and feel safe in using it.TAKE THE SCARE OUT OF PET CARE

Best nail grinder for nervous dogs
I’ve used numerous nail grinders and this one by far is the best one I’ve used. I have a Chinese crested which are notorious for difficult nail trimming. Key is to not let them pull their paws away. I eased my CC by just holding his paw and having the nail trimmer on. He finally got use to the noise and will sit long enough for me to do two paws. This nail trimmer is super fast and the sound isn’t as bad as most for some reason. Both my dogs tolerate this one.

  5. Mark

Very quiet. The tiny dogs we have don’t mind it at all. They go into a trance! Used to use clippers, but you would always cut the quick and have to use styptic gel to stop the bleeding. Extremely rare for this machine to cause bleeding. One of the dogs has nails which grow too long too fast (and she won’t exercise to wear the down). Excellent!

Watch video it speaks for its self hope this helps this is more expensive than some but some times it’s true you only get what you pay for well I did it’s worth every penny

  7. RoyleT

Works great. Grinds the nails down gently and allows for more control than course clipping does. Super quiet as well.

  8. Sandy Bergen

Although product is easy to use…my dog still does not like her nails trimmed, but, at least I can buff them up a little bit with this product

  9. Ashman

Perfect little tool to keep my dogs nails trimmed. He won’t let us cut them but wasn’t phased by this. The noise level is very low and there is almost no vibration.
