These Actually Work! Magic Cooling Effect!
This actually works! You can wash it, but you cannot dry it, something about drying it on high heat must mess up the cooling part of the product. I have a pug who is always overly hot in summer and I was hoping this would help keep her cool. I’m amazed that it stays cool to the touch and when she lays on it, it does seem to cool her faster than if she were to lay on the floor or one of her mats or beds alone. I’m not sure how this works, but even after washing it has managed to keep its magical cooling effect. We did notice after our first washing it did wrinkle and fade a bit. The handles of the mat also took a bit of a beating and don’t have that nice new look to them anymore, but who cares what it looks like as long as it holds up and keeps our dogs cool. It is very light weight and does have a non-slip bottom so it stays put on our vinyl floors and does not slide around. This would be small and easy enough to fold, roll or squish up into a small bag for travel, would be perfect for camping or the park because its easy to pick up and go and easy enough to wash and hang to dry. I think at the current $12.99 price you could buy a few of these to have on hand and swap them out while the other is dirty or line drying. Overall, it’s a really simple good product that delivers without being too expensive and so far I’m impressed with it, I just hope they hold up for awhile.

My Ferrets are Feeling Cool!
Overall, it works well! The measurements for each mat are accurate. The fabric is soft and sheer on the top with a bumpy black texture on the bottom. If you stick the mat in the freezer overnight, it will remain cold for a couple of minutes and then will keep slightly cool for a few hours. Even if you don’t put it in the freezer, the fabric does feel slightly cool to touch. My animals use the mat when they are feeling hot regardless of whether or not it was frozen. You can tell just by looking at/feeling the fabric that it is most definitely washable, by surface or by machine. This is fantastic as my animals tend to dirty bedding up fast.I also enjoy that the mat folds up and is sealed by button snaps. This makes it far more portable and freezer-friendly (I prefer to stick it in our mini-fridge). The handles/loops are not removable unless you cut them loose. Because I am using this mat for ferrets, they are able to weave their whole bodies through the loops no problem, but this may be a hazard to consider if you have a larger animal.The only thing preventing me from leaving a perfect review is how fast the mat loses its cooling properties. It remains ‘cool’ for long, but not *cold.*

Cooling mat for dogs that has a non-slip backing.
Before we had our cooling sheets and comforter, I don’t know if I would’ve understood the value of a cooling mat for my pup. Because I know that they really truly work, especially in the super hot summers that we get here in the West. I’m so happy that I got one for my pup. I put it on top of his little baby couch that he has and he immediately climbed on top of it and took a nap. If that doesn’t say he likes it, I don’t know what would.The size of his puppy cooling mat, which is 28 inches by 22 inches, is bigger than what my little Maltese pup needs, but I’ll tell you all I need to do is fold the cooling mat and it’s the perfect size for his little couch that he takes naps on. And the cooling mat is definitely cooler to the touch. All I have to do is put my hand on it and you can tell it’s probably about 5° cooler, which is a lot when you’ve got a hot dog.And when it gets dirty and time for a wash, all I need to do is put it in the washing machine. I will line dry it as it shouldn’t go into the dryer. And when I was putting his cooling mat on his little couch yesterday, I noticed that there’s a handle. How awesome is this to be able to just fold this up put the handle around it and then I can carry it with me so if we go to a picnic, or something or an outdoor concert, then my pup can have his own cooling source. The backside is a non-slip material so that it will stay put and not slide on the hardwood floors.And when I ordered this cooling mat, I noticed that this size is that small size, which again is 28 inches long by 22 inches wide. Plus it is less than $12. There’s no way that I could find, or make, or in any way have something that is this wonderful as this cooling mat for this price.

Good mat but the handles have got to go
This review is for the Barlincham foldable dog cooling mat listed at $19.99.This mat does feel cool to the touch and has a cute design of cartoon dogs. Because it is thin and doesn’t provide any cushioning, it’s not appropriate as a stand-alone crate pad, but works well when placed on top of a mattress. It fits my girl’s crate pretty well. Due to the thinness of the material it gets bunched up in the middle after a while and I have to spread it out again when this happens. The non-slip dots on the bottom work better if the mat is directly on the floor. With temperatures in the 90’s this week, it arrived just in time. The stitching looks good, and the fabric has held up so far.The listing photos show carry handles used when the mat is folded up, but in the photos where the mat is spread out for use, they are absent. Because of this, I thought the handles were removable. They are not. I wound up cutting them off as this is a good way for my dog to get her paws or legs tangled up, and a definite hazard.The mat is easy to clean – it is machine washable and dries quickly on a drying rack.Overall, it’s a good basic cooling mat, but because the handles present a hazard I’m knocking off a star.
