The Best Clippers I’ve Tried. MY Kitten Approves Too!
I’m a new pet mom and nothing has scared me quite as much as preparing to cut my kittens talons. I’ve had them for nearly 3 months and they are 5 months old. They both have yet to get their nails trimmed; all the scratches and wounds over every surface of my body are proof! I once ordered this really cool rotating gadget that filed the nails down. Felt fulproof and very efficient. My girl kitten wasn’t having any of that and while she leapt from my shoulder to escape, she dug into my flesh and have me 2 new touches! That was enough to make me give up for a few weeks, but I recently learned NOT trimming their nails can make they susceptible to injuries with their claws and paws, especially if they are indoor only cats. I decided to try again and looked for a more old school clipper when I came across this one. It is so comfortable to hold in my hand/ palm, very ergonomic. I wrapped my girl kitten like a bean burrito and gently held one arm out, encouraging her nails to curl forward. There are 2 dutches on the clippers along with a plastic shield that I’m guessing keeps the trimmings from popping you. One switch allows the clippers to open, without moving the switch the clippers stay locked which is a welcome safety feature. The second switch turns a light on that shines right on the claw so you’re certain not to cut the quick or more than intended. I was amazed she stayed out while I used this clipper. I think the motor from the electronic file scared her and made an already anxiety ridden first experience that much more stressful. I am so very pleased with these clippers, sometime simple works best and these are a tried and true construction and concept with a handy light for illuminating small claws. I wish I had gone with these first I can tell my girl feels so much better as her claws were quite long. 10/10 recommend across the board!

Trimmer Light Is Nice
Why did you pick this product vs others?:The light feature is nice and does help to see the quick and hopefully keep you from cutting too much nail and hitting it. It mentions there’s a stop guard but I haven’t figured out where that is. There is a plastic piece that attaches to one side of the clippers to catch the nails, but it doesn’t work well, it actually gets in the way. I didn’t find them to be as sharp as my other clippers, but it does say for smaller pets and my dog isn’t a small dog, so my bad on not reading that thoroughly (unless it was updated after the fact and after I ordered). All in all, it’s an ok trimmer. I will continue to use my other clipper, but keep this by me when I need the light beam to identify the quick.

Not the Most Functional, but Has a Few Nice Features
These cat/dog nail clippers didn’t meet my expectations in terms of functionality. To start, they came with no instructions, which made the initial use a bit confusing. There’s a clear plastic piece that fell off with each nail I clipped—presumably to catch the trimmings, though it’s not secure or helpful.The blades also aren’t as sharp as I had hoped; I struggled to get a clean cut on my dog’s nails. On the positive side, I do appreciate the built-in light for visibility and the ability to lock the clippers for safety. Unfortunately, the overall performance falls short.

I was excited to received these clippers as I trim the nails on my pets.Pros: the light is handy if your dog has light colored nails – is really does help to identify where the vein is. It does nothing for dark colored nails.Cons: It doesn’t include a guard to help avoid trimming too much nail. It does include a plastic piece that is supposed to keep the nail trimmings from flying across the room – I don’t think this is a necessary feature and the piece, although removable, actually gets in the way. The included nail file is handy, but is very small and not very rough.The clippers are not too heavy and the blades appear sharp.

I love the fact that these nail clippers have a light on them! I have a hard time seeing in any type of darkness or shadow, so I tend to have trouble being able to see the quick on pet nails. I usually have to cut our dogs nails longer than needed so that I don’t cut too low on accident. With the light I’m able to see exactly where I need to cut his nails so that he can be able to walk I in comfort. They are a little difficult to grip because they are not very ergonomic, but they get the job done and they do it well.
