The Catstages Nina Ottosson Buggin’ Out Puzzle & Play is the ultimate challenge for your smarty cat. Featuring sixteen hidden treat cups, this puzzle toy will keep your cat busy and thoroughly entertained. Hide treats, cover compartments, and let the games begin. Cats swivel leaf flippers and scoot treat-filled ladybug pegs to solve the puzzle while flexing their intelligence and natural problem-solving skills. Keep your cat guessing with varying difficulty levels. For beginners or a more relaxed playtime, only place food in the treat cups. Up the challenge by adding treats to the holes of each peg, or in only a few compartments to amplify the hide and seek fun. This engages their mind and paces eating, helping to improve digestion and overall well-being. Whether it’s treat-time or mealtime, this food puzzle holds 1/4 cup of cat food, making it a versatile addition to your cat’s feeding routine. It’s not just a toy; it’s an interactive puzzle feeder for adding excitement to daily meals. Plus, it has zero removable parts to avoid any choking hazards and make cleaning a breeze! The Buggin’ Out Puzzle & Play is a strategic tool to help redirect unwanted behavior and provide essential mental stimulation. Great Distraction for Energetic Cat
My cat has lots of energy and sometimes I just need a distraction. This is great for my cat who is food motivated, smart, and loves to play. The quality is good, it slides well and is a good size for a variety of treats. Plus, the different levels means we can mix it up and keep him entertained.

Raindrops and storm clouds!
I have two cats who steal food and are supposed to be on diets. A third is a very timid semi-feral who waits until the two alpha thieves have had their fill. This puzzle feeder has worked very well for slowing them down and evening out portions. The translucent “raindrops” slide over half dollar sized cutouts where about 12-15 pieces of small kibble fit. The small sliding “cups” can be left empty over the cutouts, as well, or they can be filled with kibble and slid over the cutouts when those have been emptied. Cats have several options for obtaining the food, and mine learned both by experimenting and by observing their buddies’ attempts. All three now share without any snarling, hissing or competition. They are kept busy, fed and not overfed because i can pretty easily control portions using this.Cleaning this is somewhat not ideal as there are spaces that can trap kibble pieces, so a long hot rinse is helpful with an overnight drying time. Not enough of a bother to subtract a star.

challenge level depends on the cat!
The Catstages Rainy Day Puzzle is truly a great and well-designed toy. The quality is excellent, and the concept is creative for keeping cats engaged. However, it seems the challenge level depends on the cat!Our clever girl figured it out in just a few seconds and quickly lost interest, while our tabby boy was completely stumped, just staring at it in confusion. It’s definitely a fun idea, but it might not hold the attention of very smart cats or be accessible enough for less curious ones.Still, it’s a fun way to try out treat puzzles, and it could be perfect for cats with mid-level problem-solving skills. 😊

Engaging toy for treats!
This lady bug treat dispenser keeps my cat interested for 30 minutes at a time. I can set it up at night and she will play when she wants a treat. She learned how to find treats in 2 days and knows what it is. When I bring it out she supervises me while I load it. Works better with larger treats like regular Greenies. Smaller treats take a lot of digging out. Good investment!

Engaging but treats get stuck
My cats immediately took to this and enjoyed it a lot. The premise is fantastic. However, the treats/kibbles get stuck in the cracks very easily which is frustrating for them after they’ve done all that work! I’ll be returning it.

Excellent for slowing down fast eaters or kitties with big appetites who need smaller calorie counts
When you have to present on a business call, and your cat doesn’t comprehend that she needs to leave you alone and not paw at you, meowing, for fifteen minutes straight because she’s going to absolutely, positively die of starvation if she doesn’t immediately get food, this is a great solution to have ready…Looks and functions exactly as described. Our little girl is a 15 lb, 21″ long cat who’s currently taking prednisolone, which makes her (or anyone, humans included) feel hungry all the time. She usually is fine with 3 timed meals plus a snack, but with the prednisolone, she’s vocally and physically asking for food ever few hours. This toy has been a godsend. We have her on a novel protein diet with high protein (30%) kibble that keeps her fuller longer, and if you put 2-3 kibble in each green leaf cup, and 2-3 in each red lady bug cup, you’ll be able to serve up a puzzle that will occupy them for up to 15 minutes, and make them eat slowly enough they will feel satisfied for a few hours at least. We also have been feeding her her dinner completely in the puzzle some days when she’s especially voracious, and there’s enough room easily in the cups to hold a full ounce of kibble, probably you could fit 2 oz. if needed. (8 oz. = 1 cup of kibble, and we feed her 4 oz. per day, divided into 3 meals + 1 oz. we use as ‘treats’ / snacks throughout the day, which is ~200 calories with her Blue Buffalo and Natural Instinct Venison and Alligator novel protein kibble).Cats use their sense of smell more than eyesight that close up, I guess, so we did notice after while she has trouble telling if there’s still food in the ladybug/red cups, because the scent of food lingers in them and it’s not easy for her to see inside, but she doesn’t seem to get frustrated, and when she hears us take the puzzle out of the closet she knows it’s snack time! The only negative is that it will slide around on a wood floor or kitchen floor, so you may need to put it on a rug/carpet if it keeps moving around while your cat is eating from it.One note: small kibble can become wedged inside the frame of the puzzle. I’ve not tried separating the components to clean it out – I usually just start shaking it over the trashcan in different directions, and the kibble comes out. Larger kibble won’t have this issue – it’s mainly the Natural Instinct one that gets stuck as it’s smaller and flatter than Purina HY Rx and Blue Buffalo. But not a dealbreaker by any means!Really cute, and works great. Very durable. Highly recommended.

Cat loves puzzle
Cat is having fun figuring out how it all moves and loves getting treats for success. Some areas are challenging but possible. Very sturdy structure, parts slide and move but soft touch.

I have a tuxedo so she’s pretty smart and figured this out pretty quickly. She still loves it, though, and rubs against me constantly while I’m filling it and when I was showing her how it worked. Feels made of good quality parts that slide nicely and provide some fun and enrichment for my cat. If you have an orange cat or other braincell-challenged variety, they might have trouble figuring out that the red bugs release a hidden treat if you slide it back and forth lol

This is the second Cat Stages toy I have bought for my 2 year old cat Otis. The first he can now solve in around a minute and so I wanted something a bit more tricky to keep him entertained. The toy is well made and robust, it has three different types of puzzle – the white bones must be lifted, the green compartments flipped open and the sections underneath are accessed by sliding the green compartments. I like the variety of puzzles and it takes Otis a good 10-15 minutes (so far!) to open it all out. Each compartment has enough room for a number of treats or one larger treat. It is easy to set up and I feel is excellent value for money. All the surfaces are wipe clean and there are no nooks or crannies where dirt or muck could build up. Overall really impressed and Otis has taken to sitting next to it looking at me to make me reset it!
