Technically not a “steam” brush
Firstly, this brush does not emit steam. Steam is hot. This brush emits a cool mist.Now that that’s out of the way, it uses two AAA batteries which were not included. The bristles are firm and I believe long enough to get down to the undercoat of our Maine Coon kitten’s coat, but I can’t be entirely sure. The receptacle for water was still nearly full after about 5 minutes of brushing, and I was able to remove a decent amount of fur, but I brush/comb her daily, and I wouldn’t say this brush was more effective than the brushes and combs I’ve already been using. So far, she hasn’t had any mats, so I cannot attest to its effectiveness at loosening matted fur, but it was definitely something I had in mind when ordering. If she ever becomes matted and attempt this brush to remove the mats, I will return with an update to this review.Pro tip: wait until you’re already brushing your pet to turn it on. When my cat saw the blue light and mist coming out of the brush the first time I tried brushing her with it, it startled her and she ran off.

Keeps cat fur from flying, and kitty loves it!
This brush is a very similar style to one my biggest “groomie-loving” cat enjoys. And with fans and AC units blowing cat hair all over the place this time of year, it can be a huge mess any time we brush them. This one’s mist is supposed to help trap the fur so it doesn’t blow around while you brush your cat.And it does. The only downside is that it will also stick to your hands when you remove the fur from the brush, so I’d recommend pulling it off with a tissue or something. Made it much cleaner.The cat I tested this on first hates water bottles. So I worried the mist might scare her. But she had an absolute blast, essentially got a low-key bath, and got a bunch of undercoat removed. With cool water, this must be such a treat for them on a hot day. I wish I’d tried one sooner!

Leaks everywhere and impossible to sanitize
First off, by definition, steam is vapor that rises when water is heated or boiled. This pet brush does not warm up or heat up at all, therefore, contrary to its claim, it is not a steam brush. It simply uses a similar technology to that of a home diffuser to create a thin mist that shoots out of the middle of the brush, between the bristles. When the brush is facing down, it barely produces any mist at all. Secondly, it leaks all over the place, dripping water onto my pets and my hands when I use it. Third, out of my four dogs and two cats, only one of my dogs allowed me to use it on her briefly before standing up from the comfortable couch and running away from me. Lastly, since the item is battery operated and is not submergible in water, the inner water chamber is nearly impossible to dry out or sanitize properly, which may very likely lead to mold growth inside the water chamber. It is easy to use as a simple grooming tool just to brush my pets’ coats, if only they would let me. I did not notice any improvement in the shine or softness of the fur after using this tool. The only feature I liked was the quick-release button to dislodge the hair from the bristles. Would not recommend this at all.

Great Concept but Frustrating Leaks
This product could be great. The bristles are capped and soft enough that my cats aren’t bothered, even the one who’s usually picky about grooming tools. The “steam” is really a cool ultrasonic mist, and it runs on two AAA batteries. It’s easy to fill, simple to turn on and off, and the press plate makes removing fur quick and clean.The problem is the leaking. When I test it by laying it on different sides, I come back and everything’s dry. But after using it normally and setting it down, I’ll return to a small puddle underneath. I can’t figure out what’s triggering the leak, but it has happened repeatedly across several days.My cats seem more comfortable if I start brushing first and then turn on the mist. One of them gets spooked if the light and mist are already running when I approach.If it weren’t for the inconsistent leaking, this would be an easy 5-star product. The idea is great, and the features are well thought out, but it needs improvement in build quality

Decent steam brush
I got this for my cat who has sensitive skin and is prone to dandruff. It puts out a good amount of steam so you don’t want to leave it on the entire time you are grooming or you’ll wind up with a very moist pet. You press the power button to turn it on or off and a blue light will indicate that it is on which I like because it is very easy to press the button while grooming. The button on the brush moves the plastic disk in the front forward to release the hair but since it is round it makes the disk wobble a but. It would be nice if it were flat as I have a non steam brush like this which works very well. Because the fur will be moist, I recommend keeping the disk pushed out to remove the hair or it will pull back into the bristles as it sticks to the disk because it is wet.

My cat loves this
I have a long-haired cat that I have to brush often. This brush is great for getting out small tangles. She loves it. The misting water is an interesting feature. it does moisten the hair so there is less static which is very nice. I really like how easy it is to get the hair off by pushing the button. Definitely makes grooming time more enjoyable.

Helps with the flyaways
I have a short haired cat that seems to shed a lot. I got this for him. The brush works well, by itself no water. With the water, it does seem to keep the hair together a bit better but it’s not a huge advantage for us Since he doesn’t have long hair that is coming off in droves. The brush is sturdy and the bristles have nice little rounded tips which he seems to really like.
