It really is gentle on their skin
I ordered this with trepidation – I really wanted the listing comments about this being gentle on the skin to be true.I have two cats and one dog. I got this for my cats – one has dry skin and the other has long hair which mats easily. The one with long hair is a wild nut normally, but gets really wild and crazy when I try to brush her. Of course, I end up getting, bit, scratched, and bloody until I finally give up.The first thing I did, when this brush came, was feel of the ends of the tines. Previously, all the brushes I’ve bought, say they’re gentle on the skin, but the tines come to a sharp, needle-like point and are not gentle on the skin. So, when I rubbed my hand along the ends of these tines, I had to do it several times because I couldn’t believe what I was feeling. Or rather…what I was not feeling. No sharp points. Wow! So, I took it and rubbed it on my arm as if I were brushing my arm. It felt like a regular stiff brush – no sharp ends at all!So, the next test was my sweet boy cat with the dry skin. He likes to sit on the arm of my chair while I scratch his dry skin. I got this brush, showed it to him and began brushing. At first, he acted like he wasn’t sure about it. Then, withing seconds, he relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed his brushing session. He also sheds a lot. This brush got most of his “dandruff” and tons of hair. I had to empty it several times because it filled up quickly with lots of hair!I can say one thing for sure – no sharp tines. My boy cat can vouch for that! When I finished brushing him and laid the brush down, he acted disappointed that I wasn’t going to sit here and brush him all day. To me, that says it all.I really never thought I would get so excited about a pet brush. But finally, this one is as the description states. This brush is lightweight, easy to handle and hold on to. It’s no problem for arthritic hands to grip. It has a large button on the back side of the brush – just push it and all the collected dander and hair fall right out and into the trash.Overall, I’m impressed with this brush, especially at its low price tag. It looks and feels durable, so I think it should hold up well for quite a long time. I am very happy with this brush and highly recommend it.

“self-cleaning” flea comb
I currently have 2 cats, and one of them is an indoor/outdoor cat, so it seems like every time summer rolls around, I’m stuck dealing with him bringing fleas into the house, no matter how often he is treated. This year is no different. So both cats get flea combed semi-regularly. I kinda hate normal flea combs, because unless you brush the cats THOROUGHLY beforehand, there’s a bunch of fur in the comb with the fleas, and it’s hard to get the hair out of the comb and into the soapy water before the fleas escape. We already had a brush that has the button that ejects the fur in a mat, so this isn’t a foreign concept to us, but I’ve never seen a flea comb that used the same mechanism until now.I took this thing for a test run, and it worked okay, but some parts didn’t go so well. First off, I think the comb is too long. It is much bigger. To be able to hold the base while pushing the eject button, I have to stretch my hand, and I do not have small hands. And when I did get my thumb far enough to push the button, the rest of my hand was too close and got pinched a little on the ejector’s return.Not only is this thing kinda clunky and cheap-feeling, I’m not sure how effective it is either. The teeth look to be further apart than on my other combs, and I think a flea could squeeze through. I didn’t get any fleas when I combed the cat, even though I’ve seen him scratching today. On the plus side, he did seem to enjoy getting combed more than he usually does. So I can still use it for regular grooming at least.I think it’s a neat concept, but the execution is lacking, and I recommend looking elsewhere.
