Okay, I have a long-haired German Shepherd who sheds…a LOT. Like, tumbleweed levels of shedding. I’ve tried so many grooming tools over the years, but nothing seemed to really make a dent until I got this 9-in-1 Dog Grooming Kit.Seriously, it’s amazing how much fur this kit gets rid of! The slicker brush is fantastic – the bristles are gentle enough that my dog doesn’t get irritated, but they still effectively remove loose hair and tangles. And the one-button hair release makes cleaning it SO easy. No more struggling to pull clumps of fur out of the brush!I also love the grooming glove. My dog actually enjoys being brushed with it – it feels like a massage for him, and it’s great for everyday use. Less Fur, Happier Home, Happier Us
Our little one isn’t the biggest shedder, but my sisters’ cats and their dog… well, it’s a whole other story. I was getting so tired of lint rollers and vacuuming multiple times a day, and honestly, it wasn’t getting any better. This grooming kit was a bit of a game changer, if I’m being honest. It’s got everything you need, which is pretty awesome.The slicker brush is great. It gets a lot of the loose fur out, and the little button to release the hair is a lifesaver. It’s so much easier than trying to pick it out by hand. It doesn’t seem to bother our little one at all – she actually seems to like it! The glove is nice, too. It’s soft, so it’s good for just a gentle brushing and massage, especially during bath time.I was surprised by how well the scraper works! It gets fur off the sofas and clothes, and it’s pretty easy to clean. I’m a bit picky about damaging fabrics, but this scraper hasn’t caused any problems so far. It’s really handy for when the sisters come to visit with their furry friends!Everything comes in a nice little bag, which is great for storing it all and taking it with us if we’re traveling. It’s easy to clean, too. Honestly, it’s just a really well-thought-out kit. It’s helped a lot with the fur situation, and it’s made grooming a lot easier and less stressful for everyone. This grooming kit was just ok for me
While some items in this grooming kit worked acceptably well on my medium hair dog, others were not so great, and there were some quality control issues that I ran into.PROS: The larger brush with metal tines performed acceptably well compared to other brushes of its type. While it doesn’t get the really thick and stuck-in tufts of the undercoat that form in summer shed on my dog, these types of brushes never do. There is a plastic backing that can be pushed forward with a button on the back of the brush. It worked well to get the shorter hairs pushed off the tines and into the garbage, but the longer hairs wanted to stay stuck and still had to be pulled off manually to throw away.The towel is also acceptable, but it is definitely better for smaller animals with shorter hair. Larger dogs and animals with long thick hair are going to need a bigger/thicker towel to get them passably dry. This will become too damp to do much good trying to dry larger or thicker coated critters.The Y shaped silicone brush does very well at getting longer fur off of fabrics and loose top coat hairs off of my dog. However, once again it fails at getting those stuck-in undercoat tufts that are loose but that stay in the coat during summer sheds. Even on the nubbed side, it was unsuccessful at getting these out. This comb was the easiest to clean when it came to getting the fur it collected back out of the brush.CONS: The glove, while it works, is rather small. While it’s ok for my hands, my husband couldn’t get his hand to fit in it. So this might be an issue for larger individuals to use. My dog also did not appreciate the feel of this item, and he didn’t want to stick around to try it out for very long. It seems to pull on firmly attached hairs as much as it gathers loose ones. I also had to clean mine with water if I wanted to get the gathered hair off. My dogs hair did not come off the glove in a sheet like the listing pictures show. In my opinion it’s better as a bath brush than a dry use brush. They show this being used on cats, so maybe it does better on their hair type?The tooth brushing 4 pack’s finger hold is very small, and even I had issues getting my index finger fitted into the holder. The brushes are floppy even at the “handle,” and I have to put my finger all the way in my dogs mouth to get the molar teeth scrubbed. If someone has a dog that doesn’t like their teeth brushed and gets a little nippy, these won’t work at all. It’s also debatable how well the silicone bristles clean teeth compared to traditional bristles. While they are too small to get my fingers in comfortably, they are absolutely gigantic if someone wanted to brush cat teeth or small dog teeth. Really, I’d say these are good for cooperative medium to large dogs only. One of mine also came missing some silicone nubs on the toothbrush part. Personally, I will be sticking to my doggy toothbrushes with traditional bristles and long stiff handles.The “cat tongue” brush didn’t do a very good job of cleaning hair off fabrics or getting hair off my dog. It once again seemed to need water to get the collected hair off, and it uncomfortably pulled on the attached hairs of my dog. Maybe it is only good for small animals and cats?The holding bag they provide doesn’t fit the towel and all the other items. I can get all the brushes and combs in there, but not with the towel included. Also, when I went to zip it up, the strap on the zipper came apart and could not be put back together. I just threw the strap away. The zipper still works, but the zipper pull is rather small and harder to get a good grip on. I think the strap would have made this a lot easier had it not fallen off completely at the first attempt to use it.In total, 3 items did ok for me, with the Y brush working out the best for my medium haired pup. The rest were misses or had quality control problems.
