How to Fill with Water
First, remove the cap and plug. Place the mat in a sink or on the ground. Hold the water inlet upright and make sure the opening is not pressed against the inner fabric. Start by turning the water on slowly to avoid splashing. Once the water is flowing steadily into the inlet, you can gradually increase the water pressure. After filling, insert the plug and screw the cap back on tightly.
If left for a while, the water will evaporate quickly. Using a paper towel or cloth will help it dry even faster.If you prefer a lighter mat or want to avoid the sound of flowing water, simply fill it with less water.

Excellent cooling mat. My dog’s new favorite mat!
This cooling mat is so great, let me tell you why.We have other cooling mats that have like a gel inside and my westie absolutely loves laying on these. She has a corner of the living room that she likes to lay and we have one extra large size gel cooling mat and two smaller ones to fill this corner.So when I saw this extra large cooling Matt I thought, Oh we can replace the two smaller ones.Well I didn’t realize that this one you put water in which is so unique but such a great idea.The mat has made a thick plastic so that it’s puncture proof (my girl likes to scratch around before she lays down), And it’s waterproof so that you could use it inside or outside. If you had a big enough freezer or a deep freezer where you could put water in it and freeze it … and then throw a towel on the top so that it’s not too cold on your pooches belly, it would be fabulous!!Our rest didn’t take long at all to realize that this is now her favorite cool event forget the gel one she likes the water.The only thing that was a little confusing for me was how much water to put in it. I probably filled it up about 40%, maybe 50%, but to get the waterbed effect, I probably need to put more water in it. But nobody’s complaining so we’ll continue using it as it is.

Not good for taking to an outdoor restaurant
I bought this to try to help my dogs cope with this excessive heat, so they can still come to lunch with us and be comfortable for an hour or so. I didn’t realize it fills with water but doesn’t have an absorbing gel inside – it’s just a waterbed basically. It does cool well, it just would be too awkward and heavy to be super portable. I will still use it for my German Shepherd who’s a warm sleeper so he’s not plopping on the hard floor instead of his bed. It seems sturdy, and a decent size. I just need to find something that is easier to use portability wise that is effective

Surprising win!
Wasn’t sure about this, it’s like a waterbed for pets. What could go wrong? But it’s been so hot here, and I’ve seen our dog and cats lying on the cooler kitchen tile more, so I thought I’d try it.First, I think it would have been easier to fill it outside with a hose, inside in the sink was a pain. But it’s done. Second, at first they wouldn’t go near it. So I put a towel over it, and caught all of them laying on it at different times. It IS soft, they liked that. Then I took the towel off (didn’t move the cooling bed though) and that was it, they all lay on it now, even the two older picky cats (see photos). Win!!!!I did put a towel under it at first just in case, but it didn’t leak and the cats didn’t “knead” it so all is well. My youngest daughter even laid on it for a bit lol, it IS cooling.

Not for all pets
I have 3 very spoiled dogs and a cat.. they went out of their way to avoid the mat (I put it in places that they always lay and they refused). I put just enough water in it to make it a little squishy but not too much so it was off-putting.. but they didn’t like the texture of the plastic material, I think.. I gave it to a close friend and her Dalmatian absolutely loves it.

One of the Best Cooling Mats I Have Used!
Living in Texas with my 2 young Labradors I am always trying to think of ways to keep them cool in this 100+ degree heat. Outside its easy as they have the pool and where we hike has water.(This mat could easily be used outdoors and is waterproof) However indoors I always feel like they need more than just the AC. This mat is perfect and they absolutely love it. It is the first one I have used that you actually fill with water. I was not sure how they would take to it but my 3 year old Lab took to it straight away. My 15 month old took a bit longer to realize what it is but now they both use it and I will have to order another so they have one each. The mat is very nice quality and is thick. It is very durable and so far has withstood both of my dogs claws. The PVC surface makes it easy to keep clean and I really like the cute design on it. It is very easy to fill and I do believe it is helping my dogs in this weather to stay much cooler. It folds flat and will be easy to store. It is lightweight and when it has water in it has a soft squishy feel to it. Great value for money, I would recommend.

Cooling Pad for Large Dog (Size-XL 23.6 x 35.4in)Really neat idea for keeping our dogs cool in the summer heat. Easy to fill and empty. Does not leak. Mat is made from thick vinyl-type material. The print is adorable. Keeping this on our screen-in porch, so it should stay fairly clean. It will be easy to rinse off with the garden hose also.

Pet water bed
We have some kittens that have a large play pen outdoors and I put this cooling pad out there for them. I filled it with tap water and put it in to see what would happen. They love it. Within 3-5 minutes, they were all lying on the mat and enjoying the feel of the cool fabric and the motion of the water inside. This is so easy to prepare. It has a rubber plug and a screw top to secure the water inside. I like the medium size as all of the 4 kittens can lounge on it in comfort. Perfect water bed for small pets!
