Success! Being thrifty, and opposed to sending anything to the dump that can be repaired, I “reupholstered” our hideously ripped up carpeted post.As to the kit–it’s great! What’s great…? The sisal rope is excellent quality, it comes with a glue gun with an on/off switch and fold out stand, and a big bunch of glue sticks. Perfect. After removing shredded carpet on the lower half, I was able to do the bottom of a bigger than normal post (42″ tall, 5.75″ diameter), with what was supplied in the kit. I even had a bit over to make some climbing wall applique.Now for the tips. I took me, solo, about 90 minutes to use all the rope (another 45 to make the rope climbing holds). It would have taken longer if I hadn’t pulled the Lazy Susan out of the cupboard and used that for rotation. Absent that I would strongly encourage you to have a second helper feed rope from above. As to feeding rope, take care to unwrap the coil carefully so it feeds smoothly. I had a knot in the middle and lacking patience, cut it, unraveled the pile of rope and invisibly spliced the ends with glue. I drew three lines down the cardboard tube, parallel and equally spaced. I used these to guide where to apply glue. My post is wide so I used 3 dabs of glue per wrap.I normally wouldn’t write a review for such a product, but in this case I couldn’t be happier with the kit so I gave it a shout out. I think the cat would agree that this kit is a good value.

So…if you have cats…this is a must instead of buying new scratching posts…its its not hard to do at allCats destroy scratching posts in no time…but better that than your furniture…and this kit is great…so easy to use…and revives those old frayed messes to brand new.Now that I have the basics down…won’t be buying new posts…just getting more rope/sisal and just doing it myself

Close Replacement to the Rope on our Cat Tree
This is a great kit for repairing cat trees that have been well used. Cat trees can be pricey and cats can destroy them pretty quickly. We have replaced the carpet sections in the past but we have never replaced the rope sections. This kit made it very easy to do so. All the tools you need to complete the project are included and it’s a relatively simple thing to do.The only reason for the 4 stars was that we felt the rope was thinner and less durable than the rope that was originally on the tree. It worked fine as a replacement though. Time will tell how long this replacement will last though.Overall we are very pleased with the product and thought it was a good purchase for the price point it is offered at.

For under $20, I can finally fix the wall steps for my cat! Not only can I fix the steps, I can wrap a couple of new things for her as well.The sisal is not too scratchy, and you get quite a bit of it. I like that they not only give you good hot glue sticks, but also a decent quality glue gun.I have no negative things to say about this kit.

Glue melted… Cord is just tied into a messy bundle and thrown in with the glue and gun. It is also not even 10 feet.

Loooong pungent rope
A very long stretch of rope. It’s not on a spool like in the listing picture, but comes coiled up in a neat enough bundle that won’t get tangled while unrolling unless you mess it up yourself. It has a VERY pungent earthy/hempy smell that takes a very long time to air out, but it’s similar to any cat scratching station new from the store. Great way to refresh a worn-out cat scratching post but also versatile for various crafts. The glue gun and sticks are a standard basic glue gun, everything works fine.
