Augie Bones was born from founder Tanya Hart’s love for her dog, Augie. He loved to chew on the popular nylon/plastic tough toys, but he would swallow little bits of the plastic that would flake off when chewing. As co-founder of sustainable polymer engineering company Titan Bioplastics, Tanya saw a natural opportunity for the Titan team to develop a material that behaved just like traditional toys but were better for pets and the planet.
What materials are used in Augie Bones?
Augie Bones are primarily made from PLA (polylactic acid) which is made from cornstarch cellulose. Other ingredients come from completely biobased, decomposable materials.
Is there any plastic or Nylon in Augie Bones?
Augie Bones are not made with any nylon or traditional plastics. No PP, no PE, No nylon, no PET, no ABS.
Will my dog like them?
Augie Bones chew exactly like typical popular tough nylon/plastic dog toys. We didn’t want dogs to have a different chewing experience from what they already love. Just a healthier one.
Are the bones flavored?
We don’t coat our toys, the AAFCO certified hypoallergenic flavoring for Augie Bones is blended throughout the entire bone, so dogs get a flavorful chew from start to finish.
Can dogs chew off large chunks of the toy?
The bones are formulated to make it extremely difficult to chew off any large chunks. The dogs ‘whittle’ away at the bones, in much the same way they would a typical hard nylon/plastic toy.
Are they safe for dog’s teeth?
We made the bones one grade softer than typical tough nylon/plastic toys so they won’t harm dog’s teeth.
If some of the pieces of the toy go into the dog are they harmful? Will the dog digest them?
No, any small pieces are not digestible and will pass harmlessly through the dogs and unlike nylon and plastic blend toys, will not leave behind any harmful microplastics.
Where are Augie Bones manufactured?
Augie Bones are manufactured, stored, and shipped from Fraser, Michigan, just outside Detroit. Additionally, as a vertically integrated company with Titan Bioplastics, Augie Bones controls the supply chain for the materials and technology for the toys.

I’m always on the lookout for safe, durable toys for my dog Nash—he’s an enthusiastic chewer with a strong jaw and a curious nose. We recently tried the Augie Bones dog toy, and I have to say, we’re both seriously impressed!From the moment I gave it to him, Nash was hooked. He chewed on it for over an hour straight the first time—completely ignoring his old nylon toys. What really sold me is that Augie Bones is made from a scientifically engineered, plant-based material, not plastic or nylon. That means no microplastics, no weird chemicals, and no guilt about what he’s putting in his mouth.It’s held up incredibly well despite Nash’s heavy chewing, and he keeps going back to it again and again. He’s happy, I’m happy—and I don’t have to worry about what’s breaking down in his mouth.

Hard pass (literally)
I have never given a 1 star review on Amazon but this was pretty terrible. My 16-lb Dachshund is small but an aggressive chewer and within a day he chewed off a good part of one of the ends. He was up in the middle of the night vomiting and the next day there were bits of this bone in his poop that felt like sharp rocks. I threw it away right away. If you have an aggressive chewer, stay away from this product.

Natural product that keeps our big guy busy!
Our Pit/Staffy mix, Mr Bruce Willis, LOVES his Auggie bones and being they’re a natural product we aren’t worried about him mowing them down to a nub. They last a long time and he is an aggressive chewer, as soon as I opened the package and he knew what it was he went for a zoomie while I unpacked them 🙂 Given how long they last and how well they keep him busy we feel they are a great value for the price!

Great for my 100% food motivated dogs, keeps them busy!
So, I am a huge fan of these toys and very rarely write reviews, but when I saw what @Emi1Earth reviewed, I felt compelled to respond. My dogs love these toys. One of them is a BIG boy, so a really tough chewer, and the other kind of nibbles on them. Before I bought them, I read through the Amazon page to understand what I was getting my dogs into. There is so much garbage out there, and I wanted to make sure before I took a chance. So first off, they have pictures of how the toys chew down, and from what I see of the toy that the customer posted, her dog is chewing it how my dogs (and others who have posted here) chew them, and I believe that’s how they’re supposed to chew, kind of like a typical hard plastic toy. 2ndly, these are not plastic; they are made from plants, and the toy company stresses they are tested non-toxic, which means no yucky toxic microplastics, which again makes me feel good for our dogs that this company is taking real responsibility for our dog’s health, unlike most plastic dog toy companies who don’t care at all as long as they make a buck. I guess lastly is a personal comment. It’s easy to assume the worst, but before you post such a negative review about a small, growing company that is dedicating itself to making an impact for our pets against big nylon and plastic toy companies, perhaps read through what you are buying first, so you know what to expect before slamming them with damaging reviews. By the way, I am not associated with the company at all, but I was once a business owner and know how hard it is when a business gets negative reviews from people who don’t really understand what the product is or how they are supposed to work. I, for one, will continue to buy Augie Bones for my dogs and feel good about doing it. A big thank you to Augie Bones for making a toy that we can finally give our dogs that isn’t toxic.

Not worth it. Don’t buy it.
I have a chow chow and a husky and they grabbed it and dropped it. My husky sleeps with it like she sleeps with shoe. My dogs don’t chew shoes. Gave them the bones yesterday afternoon. This video is the next day.I really thought this could help my husky, with her teeth. Nope. Not a chance. They rather have their Dental Chew.

Selected this brand after reading that the ingredients are very safe. No nylon, no raw hide. The size is big and appropriate for his size (50 lbs). I don’t have to worry about his swallowing it. It’s well worth the money and one of the toys in his basket that he takes out first thing every morning. After a few days of his using it, there are a few chew “dents” but I would imagine the bone will survive my dog, who is a Aussie Shepherd-Bull Terrier and a nervous chewer. He does take his bones and drop them on the ceramic floor, and this one has not chipped or become cracked, which is usually why I have to take his marrow bones away from him. (He likes to eat the chips that break off-which is bad for him.).

I have 3 dogs and this is my 3rd bone I have bought! My tough chewers go crazy for this. We also love that there is NO PLASTIC, NO NYLON & NO WOOD FIBERS. This bone really is a pet parents dream. My pups dont cut their gums on it when they start to chew heavy and it does not hurt if you accidently step on. 10/10 recommend for any pups out there!
