Ordered for dog but cats claimed it.
I ordered this for my miniature schnauzer to have a place to lay should he come into my office area but he never had a chance to try it out. Two of my cats (pictured) lay claim to it within the hour of me setting it out. As you can see by the picture these two boys are large cats and one’s backend is hanging off of the edge. Should they want to they could both fit on this bed though. So my cats give this five stars. I took off a star because the fabric is very stiff and every time they move around on it I can hear the fabric. I’m not sure if it will soften up with washing (which I meant to do but didn’t). The egg crate foam was a little hard to get inside the case, which only has a zipper along one edge, but I found that folding the foam in half, putting it inside, and then unfolding it helped. I like that this is waterproof and machine washable in case there is an accident but I didn’t see anywhere in the description that says whether it can be put in the dryer. I will use caution and hang the case to dry. For the $20 price I think this is a nice crate sized bed that my cats certainly approve of.My Amazon rating system-Five stars-As described. May have a minor problem. Good to great value.Four stars-As described but may have a more noticeable flaw or problem. Or, not as good as value.Three stars-Good item. Not so inviting to pets
Not quite what I expected. The pet bed, if it can be called that, is a large piece of egg carton foam rubber. The type used for wheelchair or hospital mattress pads, which I’m assuming is a why they call this orthopedic—as it would give space to pressure-points. While it’s quite thick, it is not very cushy or soft.The cover? While made out of thick and durable fabric, trying to insert the foam piece is like wrestling an alligator.The cover is slightly too small. It causes the pad to curl and the gussets on the sides are not quite right.I almost broke the zipper trying to get the pad inside. One of the issues is that the opening is only on the long side—it doesn’t open on the short end, so trying to get the foam rubber to go in is crazy hard. And closing it up without grabbing part of the foam inside the zipper track is another annoyance.Finally, there is nothing remotely “velvety” or inviting about this bed. The cover on the top and sides is slick and like waterproof outdoor cushion material. Maybe nice for an outside bench but not at all warm for pets.I think the cats aren’t going to like this so we will continue looking.

Basic product, ended up changing how I used it
Originally I was going to use this as a place for my dog to sleep on while I’m working in my office. I have two dogs, so I was going to need to get another regardless.However… it wasn’t exactly what I thought it’d be when I got it. The material is rougher than I thought and the inner material is pretty basic. It’s not as comfortable as I was hoping. For $20 you can find better options.There are two factors that made me still okay with the purchase though. It’s waterproof and you can machine wash it. So instead of using it for my dogs I decided to use it to set up a bed for some pregnant stray cat that have hanging around my house.This product also had a very long shipping time. I’m assuming it comes overseas. So potentially might have to worry about factory chemicals or it being a hassle for refunds. At the price of $20… if you want it for outdoors it’s not that bad. Could be great for camping or hiking.If you want an inside dog bed I’d recommend just spending $30-40. That’s the price range where you get higher quality options and it’ll be far more comfortable for your animal. If you want an outdoor animal bed this is a decent option. It’s not the most comfortable but you should be more worried about durability and cleanability than anything else. Might want to spray it with some anti-fungal/mold spray and wash it a few times when you get it to be safe though.Edit: I wanted to include that not only is the fabric rough, the size of the product is very small. It’s meant more for cats than dogs to be honest. The size is only enough for the smallest dogs or a scrunched up small-medium dog. So be aware of what you’re buying before getting this product.
