With my 80-pound pooch, this bed has been a big hit. It’s on the rear patio, so shade isn’t as much of an issue as comfort, and picking her up off the hot concrete is a definite plus. It’s now her favorite back yard spot.It sets up very easily, and for travel to the lake or the beach, it would be perfect. The sides do not come down as low as some other, similar offerings, so if the sun is lower in the sky there’s not really any shade. However, with the more “tent” style beds, you get very poor airflow, so it’s a tradeoff either way. At around $45 I thought it was a pretty good deal, too.
