Not just a dog dryer, a multi-purpose tool
I’ve had this for a bit over three months now, and it has been absolutely awesome. It’s more than just a dog dryer: it’s also been fantastic for cleaning dust out of computers and stubborn corners, removing cobwebs from hard to reach corners, and cleaning debris from the depths of my truck. One of my concerns was also that I’ve heard many dog dryers need to be run on a 20 amp or above circuit: this dryer runs just fine on a 15 amp (to check, if you’re in the US, a 15 amp circuit outlet will look like this: D= while a 20 amp will have one of the parts in the = be T-shaped.)As far as the dog drying capacity goes, imagine one of those hand dryers at an airport or higher end gas station. You know how they’re forceful enough that they push out the loose skin on your hands and make it ‘flap’? This thing blows air at a similar rate, something like 1.5 times the amount as those. My test subjects are a rough coat Saint Bernard, a Newfoundland, a Newf mix, and a German Shepherd mix.I can get a purebred, rough coat Saint Bernard or Newfoundland entirely dry from sopping wet in about 15-20 minutes. The water literally flies off their coat as you use it, and it is also pretty good for deshedding. Definitely use this outside if you have a high-shedding dog! My only complaint is that it’s pretty loud, though my groomer friends say this model is quiet compared to other force dryers. If you have a sensitive dog, try putting cotton balls in their ears and/or a bandana flattening their ears to their heads. Two of my dogs are very shy, but have adjusted to it after a few uses. It’s a bit louder than an average vacuum cleaner.Durability: I’m very happy with it. My dogs have accidentally knocked it off the side of my deck, off a counter onto a tile floor, and I’ve also accidentally sprayed it with a pressure washer. I’ve had no issues with it to date.Overall, I feel it was well worth the price I paid for it. I would buy it again.

Big dogs dry in no time!!
We have a German Shepherd (Shepherds have a LOT of hair and shed like crazy) and a Rottweiler which equal over 220 lbs of dog and lots of dog hair! Both are swimmers. We used to towel dry them and then sit outside for 2 hours for the Shepherd to dry enough to come in the house. This is not convenient when you want to swim at night after dinner. We tried using a hair dryer (an hour later dog is still wet).Deciding to try the metrovac commander was the best decision I ever made. 2 Big Dogs dry in 15 minutes combined 10 minutes for the Shepherd and 5 for the Rottie. The Shepherd LOVES blow dryers so there was no training involved to get him used to it. The Rottie was less than thrilled but tolerated it simply because she knew she had no choice. While my large dogs can tolerate the high setting, the low setting comes out pretty strong too and is more than enough for a small dog. Use low for dogs new to drying, rub their face and give them food rewards for sitting as they adjust to this. They will come to love it. The unit basically blows the water out of the dogs coat by force not heat so it’s important that you continually move the nozzle for the dogs comfort. Try it on yourself first before overdoing it and scaring your dog. If your dog is like my Shepherd they’ll lay around and just enjoy it. Great to use to just blow out coat as well for dogs that require constant brushing. This product will be used daily during the summer months at my house. Thanks for a great product Metropolitan Vacuum Company! I’m looking into their house vacuums now – I own a Miele Capricorn which for the ridiculous price is a large disappointment when tackling multiple pet hair!

Pricey but worth it!
There is a bit of heat when used on high, which I must, but don’t necessarily need the heat. This isn’t my first, but when I got an animal agin, I knew that this would be a necessity. Pricey but worth it!

Sturdy, well built
This is a replacement of the exact same model I bought 20+ years ago….it is virtually the same and even the parts are interchangeable. Sturdy, well built, and really sucks! (LOL). I have double coated alaskan malamutes and this dryer works great on their thick coats. The older one is still in good condition (bought a new one because the outside was finally rusting!) and I haven’t changed the brushes or filter in 20 years (have 11 malamutes). It got a work out and is still going strong. I bought a replacement hose and will finally replace the brushes and filter on the old one and figure it’ll last another 20 years. This thing is a battleship! Amazing to find a product so well built, and NOT made cheaper . After 20+ years it’s still the same product and just as well made as the original. No heat, but after the motor warms it emits a gentle warmth after awhile, perfect for drying a double coat. The new attachments are a plus (orig. only came with a concentrator) so I’m looking forward to giving them a try – especially the fan attachment. Runs on a regular 20 amp 110 circuit too so a 220 isn’t needed. Highly recommend if you need a moderate priced, high velocity dog dryer!

Other people’s cats must be deaf
I have a house full of pets. Two dogs and three cats. One of the cats needs weekly bathing – being a Persian with a massive coat. This particular cat has been bathed and dried with a hand held dryer since infancy and is mellow and used to the process. She doesn’t object to that dryer. On the recommendation of “cat” people I purchased this particular Metro Air Force model based on avowals that it would cut the drying time in half.Let’s just say that switching it on – demonstrated that it would be USELESS as a tool. It was so loud – that my placid Persian literally jumped for the ceiling and shredded my arms. My bird-dog – who has never been phased by loud noises promptly ran upstairs. Let’s just say MAYHEM ensued.Whether it WORKS is MOOT if the animal is terrified. I’d advise that anyone considering this item test someone else’s dryer on their pet BEFORE buying it.

Very powerful, great to blow dry for our golden retriever.
