Neat Treat Cat Toy!
When assembling this toy the two halves that go together will take patience. So first just get the top two pieces (one on each side) to snap together and the two other clips just sit there, leave the bottom part on a flat surface and fit the middle tray onto the bottom and it will become stable once put together so not to worry about the loose bottom section of the bottom two halves that fit together. The open puzzle top section snaps on via the sides and each of the four corners. Use patience when unsnapping it because this is plastic although it seems to be sturdy plastic. I started out putting some snacks in each of the four cups which fit one on each corner. I also installed the balls around the base. So what does my cat do? He puts his nose into the cup and gets the snacks with his tongue and walks away. He is a no-frills cat that just cost me almost 4 grand for a 3-day vet hospital stay. So I put the puzzle with more snacks in his corner which has lots of privacy and later I heard a noise coming from his corner and peeked and he was using his foot to pull the snacks out and hitting the balls with his paw. If he sees me he stops and acts like he is not interested. I have not tried the maze with the balls yet but will do so soon. I think this is going to be the second cat toy he will play with the other is a squeaky mouse. I recommend this for cats.

Keeps cats entertained but must experiment with setup
My cats initially did not seem to really like this puzzle toy. They sniffed it and whacked the balls around a bit and then wandered off. Adding treats to the cups brought them back and held the interest of the food-obsessed one, but the other one did not seem to understand how to get the treats out of the cups and so stopped trying. I found I had to experiment with different setups to get her involved. What works for both is to not use the cups, just throw the treats into the toy with some of the balls so they have to push the treats to the side holes or try to get them out of the big holes on top, all while whacking the balls out of the way. This is a great toy to have around – they check it out several times every day and spend at least 10 minutes with it each time so I am happy I got it.

My cats could never get the treats out of the try though those small slots. You have to put a lot of treats in there! They got the treats out of the cups easily.

My Cats Love It
I ordered this for my two month old kitten, who loves it. I was surprised to see my big boy enjoying it as well. He plays with it as much as the kitten, and pushes it all over the room getting so rowdy with it.I took the cups out, as the cats like it better without them. It gives them four extra holes to stick their paws in. I never add any kind of treats to this toy. It’s not necessary, as the cats are naturally attracted to the toy.I do have to put it up at night because they won’t leave it alone, and it gets a little loud while you’re trying to sleep.

At first glance, this kind of looks like one of those “Shape sorter” children’s toys so I was skeptical. However, after setting it out, my cats have been very curious. They’re definitely most interested when I put treats in the middle, but haven’t fully figured out how to fish the treats out yet. They do like to poke their paws in to swat at the balls and tree-looking diverter pieces, and figured out VERY quickly how to fish treats out of the cups you can place at the sides. You could also take the cups out to give them a few more holes to poke their paws through to fish out treats or food if you decide to go that route.It’s an interesting concept that I can agree may help your cat to use logic and reasoning to get their treats. If you have particularly ravenous kitties like mine that go through treats too quickly, this may serve to slow them down and keep them entertained in the process.

The cat loves this thing. I take it out for her for just a few hours every evening, and she won’t leave it alone until I take it away.And unless you live in a very large home, you will need to take it away when you want to go to bed. The balls are hollow plastic, and fit loosely in the track. They rattle around and make a lot of noise. The more excited the cat, the louder it will be. The balls are also slightly smaller than maybe they should be, because a clever kitty can work them out of the track and from there, the racket is not mobile until the cat chases it under a piece of furniture never to be seen again.The inner puzzle box is the best part in my opinion. Use it as a food bowl for kibble and a hungry cat will entertain itself for a very long time working each little bit of food out, especially if you add the little trees and some balls. Again, this is not a quiet activity, but it does keep the cat occupied.

I got this for my two cats ages 7 & 6. The 7 year old female is very playful and curious and the 6 yr old male is not, but he is jealous and will come around when he knows she’s with me. My female cat was very curious when she saw me putting it together. She seemed most interested in the balls. The male cat joined her and they sat and watched me. Note this was my second attempt putting it together as I failed the first time. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get the two track pieces together so I gave up and put it away to try the next day. Eventually I got the pieces together by turning one side upside down and then twisting it around. Not being able to put the first piece together is never a good sign. The rest went together easily. Once assembled, my older cat started playing with the balls on the track and the younger one joined her. Good sign. I brought out some treats and put them inside but they struggled to get them out. The older one had her paws inside the toy but she just couldn’t get the treats out. Like me, she thought the idea was to lift the treats out. I ended up putting the treats in the cups and they got them. When they finished, I put the toy out of the way on top of a box but days later, the female cat started playing with the balls on the track and the male joined her so I put it back on the floor for them. They continued playing with the balls. Then I put some treats inside the toy and in the cups. The male cat managed to get some out of the cups but gave up pretty easily. The female, who is also a big eater, stayed determined and kept at it until she figured out how to get all the treats of out the toy.My cats seemed to like it based on their personalities but you never know how cats will accept toys. This is a nice toy in that it offers different ways to play. They can play with the balls on the track around the outside but it can also be used as a puzzle or a way to slow down eating or a way to dispense treats. I like that it allows them to problem solve. I think this will be my new way to dispense treats from now on.

Cats can be fickle. The main reason I am willing to give this product 3 stars is that other cats out there may have (and probably will) a much different reaction to this than ours did. The idea that our cats change up their feeding method was received with irritation and anger by our cats. They were very frustrated that the feeding cups were too narrow to effectively accommodate their usual direct eating, and they were quite unwilling to try other methods to get to the food. There was no question that they knew the food was down in the cups, but for a couple days neither cat was able to figure out how to get the food out when it was too low to reach with their mouth. Finally on about day 3 our older cat started to use her paw to fish out biscuits, but only did so reluctantly, and reverted to trying to eat normally when there was more food in the cup, even if it was barely reachable. Our other cat just refused to try to get the food out and took out her frustration and anger on us. Had we persisted, we may have got them to use their paws to eat on a regular basis, but they were not in any way enjoying the experience and I really couldn’t see a good reason to force them to suffer any longer.As a cat toy, again, our cats aren’t that interested in playing with it. We put catnip on it, and our one cat was happy to roll against it, but really hasn’t shown any interest in batting the balls around.For our cats, this product is a fail.On the plus side, the construction of the unit is reasonable – the plastic seems mostly sturdy and of a good quality. Assembly was a little tricky – forcing the two ring pieces together took a lot of hand strength, and looks like it could be a weak point for breakage. Otherwise the assembly was easy and the parts seemed robust.Other cats may just love this – perhaps it is geared more towards the younger feline generation. Our cats are on the later end of middle life, and just weren’t interested. They each have their favourite play styles, and this just didn’t interest them.
