Works well, flexible & great for small spaces
I got this little set to help get our “kitty corner” under control! With 4 cats (2 kittens, 2 bigs) it’s a bit of a mess when it comes to everyone eating or drinking.I did misread the description, and thought “automated” meant that we could set meal times but alas, no. We ended up using this one for the kittens food as we want them eating on demand, rather than at certain feeding times like the bigs.Setting this up took a little bit of brain power, looking at the order on Amazon and past experience as it did not come with a lick of instructions! Thankfully, I’m allergic to instructions so while a little frustrating not the end of the world for me. If you are not like me, be aware of this issue! (hence the -1 star)Once we got it up and running, it took a little finagling in our space to make it work for our purposes. That part is really nice, with it being flexible to your needs. Turn it every which way needed. I also liked that each item was able to be removed without disturbing the other item. Everything just lifts up and out to clean or refill.When I was cleaning the area today, I moved this all over the place and thought that the kitten food was completely gone…picture my surprise when I lifted the lid off and there was a whole bowlful sitting still inside it. No idea why it didn’t fall out with all the commotion but is something important to note, I’m guessing the weight of it being full makes it work better until it gets to the last bowlful.The water fountain is nice, works pretty well but the top lid doesn’t really feel secure as it just kind of sits on top of the fountain. I kept trying to snap it in place, but that’s not how it worked. I worry that it wouldn’t take much for a curious kitty to knock it off and make a mess. I did like that it came with 3 water filters, very convenient to have to keep the water fresh!Finally, this is great for probably a 1-2 cat household and perhaps more flexible kitties. Every cat was annoyed or scared with the fountain. When I did empty it after having it available for 3 days, it was still full. They apparently prefer still water, not fountains which is good to know. We’ll likely take this out of the rotation and try something different for our space because of their attitude!

Easy for cats to knock over
My package arrived with no instructions for either the water bowl or the feeder. I was able to assemble them but its always nice when there is an instruction sheet to refer to.Both items are made of a very light plastic, I gave them a really good try but they just didn’t work our for us. The cats kept knocking over the water bowl. I think they think of it as a game. I would constantly walk in the kitchen to find water everywhere.The food bowl had the same issue, not quite as often. They were able to figure out how to get into the top of it and also knock it over pretty quickly. I tried various tactics to keep them out but ultimately went back to just feeding them in their old bowls.These feeders might be great for pets that are not as mischevious as mine. Mine are just stinkers.

The food portion can hold approximately 3 pounds of dry food depending on size and type of dried food. Perfect. Super happy. Fast and easy setup. Both the food and water can last over a week. Simple Auto Pet Feeder – BEFORE YOU BUY
I have an elderly cat, and prior to getting this cat feeder I would always simply scoop his food into a basic ceramic cat food bowl and water bowl.This gives me peace of mind that while I’m at work for 8 hours a day+ 2 hour daily commute, he has constant access to food and water as needed.Overall it’s a fairly decent auto-feeder/waterHOWEVER Please Note:The water portion of this unit requires power to operate and runs on a motor.The cord isn’t incredibly short, but it’s not long either, which limits where you can place this unit to be functional.If your house loses power, or if the motor dies your pet will NOT have access to the water in this unit due to the lid on top.You can however, either remove the lid, have a back up water source for your pet, or, remove the clear reservoir and use the white plastic part that holds the reservoir as a standard water bowl.This feature isn’t necessarily a flaw, but something that needs to be considered.Finally, and the only reason I didn’t give this unit 5 starts is because it did not include set up instructions within the packaging.THERE IS A VIDEO GUIDE ON THIS PRODUCT’S AMAZON LISTING BY THE SELLLER – I highly recommend watching it.I was able to figure out the assembly prior to discovering the video, but included instructions would be appreciated, especially if you consider purchasing this item as a gift for someone, as you will either need to pre-assemble the item prior to gifting, or, provide them with a link to this product posting.In final summary: My cat took to the feeder immediately, gives peace of mind that he’ll have consistent access to food. Should your pet require a carefully portioned diet, there is no way to regulate the amount of food this unit provides your pet. It functions as advertised and has a sleek design. I’d recommend this unit for your pet personally, just heed my advice above.
