Way better than I expected it to be!
Look, my cat is one of those cats that just doesn’t like change. She doesn’t like it when anything is different or weird or out of place. She likes her routine, and anything that disrupts it kind of freaks her out. For example, we totally failed when we tried to give her one of those electric water-pump fountains, she hated it. But kitty needed very careful, timed, portion control and this thing was how we wanted to try it.I’m happy to report that my every expectation for an automated cat feeder was exceeded with only one exception: the little display, that has the (24 hour???) clock on it and the feeding schedule, never turns off, ever. And it glows directly in the cat’s face in the middle of the night while she’s trying to eat food.Apart from that—which we solved by putting a sticky note with a bad drawing of a cat face on it over the clock—the feeder just works. You put a bunch of food in the top, boop in what time and how many “portions” get dumped at each feeding, and set it down. It runs off a USB port but also has space for a couple of normal batteries in the bottom to keep the food flowing in the event something goes wrong with the power.The little metal dish in front pops right out and is easy to clean. It makes a gentle, tinny clattering noise when the food is dispensed, which is more than enough to bring kitty around to grab a face-full of chow. There’s also a recording feature to have it call out in your voice when it’s feeding time but I thought that was cheesy so I don’t use it. Plus, cats never listen, anyway. I can never hear the little motor running or anything. The only noise that comes out of it is the pellets hitting the dish.My only complaint is that stupid clock. Cats can see just fine in the dark, and don’t need an LED clock blaring directly into their face while they’re feeding at 11PM. She can tell time just fine without having to read a screen: did the food come out? It’s food time. No need for a cat to check the clock, and certainly I’m not going to crawl down on the floor to check what time it is (and to try to do the 24-hour time math in my head.)

Didn’t last long
I had it for 6 weeks and now it doesn’t work. The timer flashes and not dispensing any food at long. So annoyed that I have to buy another auto feeder and will definitely get a different brand. Never again…
