Before ordering this cat bed, I must have skipped over the “Self” part in the title as I thought I was ordering a Warming Cat Bed, not a Self-Warming Cat Bed. I don’t know what’s in it to make it self-warming as it seems like pretty much any bed would be self-warming if a warm body is on it…but maybe there’s something technical about it that disproves my theory. I love our sassy cat, but I get annoyed & overheated when she pins my legs down at night by sleeping on them. I don’t know how things are at your house, but whenever she chooses to lie down on any of us, we immediately feel like the “Chosen One” and are hesitant to disturb her in case she runs away & only wants to rest on other family members then. (Sorry, what did you say? You can see who runs this family? Yeah, you’re right…) After a trip, I hadn’t put away my carry-on suitcase from the trunk at the end of my bed, and she started sleeping on top of that. It’s fabulous! I can now sleep relatively undisturbed without having my legs pinned down or waking up from wave after wave of hot flashes from having that little mega heater sleeping on me. However, I really wanted to be able to put the luggage away without having her return to her favorite spot on my legs, so I ordered this bed for her. It’s currently on top of the luggage to get her used to it, and she likes it so much that she’s sleeping on it during the day now as well (she used to sleep in my husband’s inbox in his office & leave her gross cat fur all over the place, so this is definitely an improvement). I can’t tell if it’s actually getting warm from something in the bed when she sleeps on it, or if it’s just the transfer of heat from her body, but she’s definitely happy with the bed. I don’t dare let on that I’m pleased about it, though, lest she immediately move on & start sleeping elsewhere, like on my pillow. Ick! Who likes putting their face in cat fur while they sleep?! So, for now, we’ll leave things as they are. She has been sleeping on the fuzzier side. Neither side has anything non-slip on it, so I’m not sure why it’s listed that way. The fleecy side has something under that top layer that is firmer & kind of crinkly sounding, so I figured that was the bottom. I’ve flipped it over to see if she likes that side as much as the other, but her nap is done for now, so we’ll have to wait for an answer on that. I suspect we may put one of those pressure-sensitive cat heating pads under it in the colder months to entice her to stay there, but she’s pleased with this bed, and I am, too, since I’m getting much better sleep now (that I hadn’t even realized was so disturbed because of her!). Recommended!

Perfect for fur babies, so cute
Excellent size, the cats love it. Fits really well on the couch outside to keep the girls comfy on cool days and warm on colder nights for the one that still is undecided about moving inside. Easy to wash and also tuck an edge between cushions or cushion and couch side to keep it down in the wind. Very durable, looks fab every time I wash it.

Save your money
We have a feral cat that adopted us about 8 months ago. He stays outside and I thought this would help with the cold, but he will not even get on it, even when I set it on the chair he likes to lay on. I don’t know why, but I won’t do that again. I don’t feel right to return it, because it has been outside and when I washed it looks like glue or something showed up on it. So I will suck it up!

Warm Cat Mat
My cats really like this mat-style bed. It’s thick and truly self-warming. Once a kitty settles on it, the warmth is obvious and when he leaves, it takes a few moments to dissipate. The multi-layered pad is big enough to easily hold two smaller cats or my 20-pounder along with a smaller feline friend.I ordered the buffalo plaid and it’s really nice looking. The underside, however, is not non-slip. It’s a nice black pile, which is very slippery on smooth surfaces. Because of this, I can’t put the pad on top of the refrigerator where I’d intended to keep it for a cat who likes to sleep by herself and needs extra warmth in winter. I did try, but the moment she started playing, the pad slid off, nearly taking her with it onto the kitchen counter.I’ll have to find her another bed, but this bed looks nice on the couch and is already popular with the other cats. The bed is stitched around the edges so it keeps the layers inside in place during laundering. Overall, I’m happy with the pad, and I know it will serve my kitties well on chilly winter nights.
