Easy to open
For years I purchased BioBag’s black pet waste bags, but I always had a hard time getting them open. I saw these, and initially bought them because they came in a larger quantity. I noticed right away that I can open these bags easily. They seem a little shallow, so if you’re picking up after a very large dog they might not be suitable for you. They seem thick and durable enough for their purpose too.

Anything biodegradable instead of more plastic is a no brainer. These work, and are durable enough that your fingers don’t break through and find themselves touching your dog’s warm treasure. What else do you need to know?

Unlike other “environmentally friendly” dog poop bags that are made of post-industrial waste plastic — spare plastic that might otherwise be disposed of by factories after they’re finished making plastic products — these bags are the real deal. They are soft and silky, light but strong. Just feeling the bags you can tell that BioBag is describing them accurately. The bags are made of vegetable products that will break down when exposed to a combination of sun, oxygen and other decomposing matter.A recent price comparison I did shows that BioBag dog poop bags are 13 cents a bag; plastic dog poop bags at Lidl are 6 cents a bag. But when you add the toxic nature of the plastic bags that break down into microplastics, eventually infecting our oceans and our environment with teeny bits of plastic that get into everything you eat, the BioBags seems a lot less expensive over time.

No Handles?
The bags hold a fair of material without tearing and that is excellent, as well as being compostable which was most important to us. However, these are advertised as having handles and the box we received are just plain bags, without handles. I ordered handles specifically because I find them easier to use, but just beware.

I wish the bags were bigger. It’s hard to get a cat litter scoop into the bag without spilling litter. The bags don’t break or leak though. So I am happy with that part.
