Good enough for several days wort of scrape
While all compostable bags will leak given enough time and moisture, these seem better than others I have tried that meet the approval standards of our compost collector

durable, odor resistant.
Durable, convenient, size good for composting fruits and vegetable peels over a few days. Bag contains odors from food remnants until the bag is transferred to a larger composting bin.

Exactly as advertised…HOWEVER…
I was very hopeful about these bags. We try very hard to recycle our plastic shopping bags, and the thought of buying plastic bags of similar material specifically to throw away made little sense to us. Moving to these bags, which we expect to degrade in a more planet-friendly way, was awesome. But a few warnings based on our experience.- The bags are tall enough for a tall kitchen can, but there is no integrated tie so the bags tend to fall down into the can and have to be resituated often. We use a large rubber band to help secure it, which mostly works.- Because there is no integrated tie, we have to leave some length to tie a knot in the plastic when removing the bag from the can. This reduces the capacity by 25% or so. So we are using many more bags each week.- The bags are more expensive than those made of traditional plastic. Coupled with the comment above, we feel the cost is too much for the benefit.- Finally, once in a while we have a particularly heavy item in the trash (for example the remnants of a rotisserie chicken). The bags never broke due to the weight, but often we would rip the bags where we were holding them as we were trying to remove them from the can. This leaves even less space for tying a knot (or using a spare twist-tie) to close the bag.For us, the combination of these drawbacks made the bags unsuitable for long-term use. We are still using them here and there and are happy when they work out. But unfortunately they will not be our go-to replacement for everyday use.

Very satisfied!
Very happy with these bags. They are well built and strong enough to hold our food scrapes for a week without leaking. I cook at least 5 days a week. The only time it leaked was because we put too much, too heavy. So we learned. Throw it out before it gets too full. Also try to squeeze out air as much as possible. So far we’ve been using it for over 2 months and there hasn’t been other leaks.

Great product for enclosed bathroom trash
Great in the bathroom trash- just don’t let them get exposed to moisture or they’ll get gummy and stuck together. Sturdy bags otherwise.

Good to know
These bags fit my countertop bin beautifully. They are easy to use and keep the bin clean. However, Waste Management in my northern CA county will not allow the bags in the green waste containers as they clog their machinery. They must be tossed in the trash. Brown paper bags can be used in the green waste container.

A little TOO compostable
If there’s anything wet or even moist in my kitchen compost bucket, these seem to leak, and this seems to be completely consistent. They do seem to break down in my home compost pile.
a different name –
BioBag (USA), The Original Compostable Bag, 2.6 Gallon, 100 Total Count, 100% Certified Compostable…I challenged the business end of a banana skin while I was tying up the over-full bag (note to self: don’t over-fill). The hard banana stem didn’t penetrate the material, even with extreme provocation, and dropping the bag into the empty green bin didn’t breach it. The 16″x17″ bag size is perfect for those 8L/2gal oval counter-top bins. I looked at other brands online, but I wasn’t sure that they were biodegradable and compostable: the BioBag is not outrageously more expensive for that assurance. Bonus: the box dispenses the bags as singles. Yes, no more pulling and tearing! Happy with the product..

Not heavy duty as advertised

We have been happily using these for years. Unfortunately, though, our last delivery consisted of two « bad » boxes. Bags in both boxes are unusually very delicate and easily fall apart.

Importunely it didn’t work for us because of the sizing – great bag felt very strong

If you dispose of a lot of wet stuff like peelings, pits, veggie/fruit juice waste, the bag will not last more than a couple days before it “melts” and leaks into your bin and can’t be pulled out as an intact bag.
