Very Effective, and A Little Goes A LONG Way
Before I found activated carbon, I’d add unscented baking soda into my cat box after every scooping + spray a natural enzymatic oder neutralizer on top of the litter once spread back out and that was pretty effective, but not without issue. I had to do all of that with every single scooping, and I was concerned about my kitties feet getting irritated from so much baking soda in her box. I discovered activated carbon when one of the two boxes was at the two week point in the monthly rotation and the other at the three week mark. After applying about 2 tablespoon and mixing it into the three week box any residual smell disappeared. I added more 4 days later, just another teaspoon becuase I noticed a slight odor. Shortly after the carbon refresh it was gone. I generally stop adding more litter at the three week mark so I throw away less overall litter for the monthly change out. What I did instead of a toss and change. I added the litter into the other box that was due for a change a week later, because the activated carbon is just that good. The second boxes whole change out has been extended two weeks beyond the date I recorded and is just starting to smell a bit musty. That in itself is weird, It doesn’t have an ammonia order, it just doesn’t smell neutral anymore, and that could be because that second box is in the bathroom, where it sometimes gets humid. I last had cats 13 years ago with our new kitten joining our family at the beginning of December 2024. Im learning the products available for keeping litter fresh for a long time are astonishingly better. Yes this product adds to the cost of your overall cat box maintenance, but you can use it very sparingly. I expect this bag lasts me 5-6 months. If it not only keeps the box fresh all the time but extends the life of the cat litter, you are saving money on cat litter plus cutting down on the hassle of lugging litter bags or jugs, and saving time and energy by changing out the litter less often. Activated carbon has definitely become a staple in our cat box routine. Im so thankful for this evolution since 13 years prior. And to think I resisted getting another cat for so long because I resented the smelly cat box.

Works very well, not at all dusty
This litter deodorizer works great with the corn-based litter I am using. I like that it’s not at all dusty, and it mixes well into the litter. I have limited places I can keep litter boxes in my home and they ended up in proximity to where I spend a lot of time, so I used to have to scoop them constantly and they still sometimes stank depending on which cat used them and for what. This deodorizer really cuts down on lingering odors and means that I can stop immediately dropping everything to go scoop every time… it can wait until I’m done eating, or watching TV, or working (my cats love to poop while I’m on a long Zoom call!). It is a bit pricey compared to other litter deodorizers I’ve tried, but at least so far it’s lasting longer, and I like how it comes in a resealable bag I can just scoop it out of instead of a can with a shaker top or a cardboard box I can’t re-seal. And I love that it isn’t at all dusty. I use corn-based litter to cut down on dust, so adding a dusty deodorizer to that always annoys me.

Works as a Deodorizer, but dense black color
As a deodorizer, the product appears to work fine. However, because the color of the product is black, even when mixed with my traditional cat litter, the initial reaction of my cats was a little stand-offish. Ultimately, they used the litter box without issue.

A Neutral Experience
I decided to try the HugsandTails Cat Litter Deodorizer to manage odors in my home. I have two cats, and each one has their own litter box, which they use exclusively. I also have a very sensitive sense of smell and can easily detect even subtle changes in the air. After using 1/2 cup of this product in each litter box, I did not notice any difference in the scent or reduction of odors.However, I’ve found that baking soda in the litter boxes does help to reduce odors effectively. That being said, I understand that individual results with this deodorizer may vary depending on factors like the type of litter and personal preferences. While it didn’t work for me, it might still be worth trying for others looking for a solution to litter box odors.

No Smell
This deodorizer is great for my cats. I have 3 cats and 3 boxes in my home. I scoop the boxes daily to help prevent them from smelling. This deodorizer is great and helps keep the smell away. The cat’s don’t seem to care it is in the litter.

I can’t smell anything!
I can’t smell anything. What else can I say? But seriously, this works as intended. I mix it in with my walnut shell based litter (which already does a great job of keeping the smell down), and this product takes the smell down to zero. It mixes well with the litter and the cats don’t seem to notice or mind.This is a good value for the money. I love that you don’t have to use a lot of product to get a good result. I sprinkled about 1/4 cup in each litter box and mixed it around. So far so good. If you use a litter that does not have good odor control you might have to use a little more, but I would recommend starting with less and adding as you see fit.

Works great
With three cats, I’m forever cleaning litter boxes and finding ways to ensure they aren’t stinky. I love my cats but I don’t want my home to smell like a litter box. This is a great odor neutralizer, and it mixes in with the litter really well. You get a good amount in the package too — this will last quite a while.
