Effective Design – Bad Packing
These litter trapping mats are very effective at what they are designed for; unfortunately the way they package them will require you to put something heavy on them, and possibly leave them outside on a hot day to get them to lay flat. These come packaged in such a way that it is folded, and while it is made of good material, it will not lay flat on its own unless you exercise the material to be flat with weight and heat. I have purchased some larger mats of the same exact manufacturer and they had no problem laying flat when I used them as a base for my actual litter boxes to capture the mess that they paw outside the edges of the box. The open end design is fantastic for easily cleaning and usually will allow you to quickly refill your litter box with the captured litter in moments. Highly recommended for anyone who has a messy litter box area due to excessive waste covering kitties that push litter over the edges of their box. Would be 5 stars with better packing design that didn’t require an extra step to flatten out.

Finally the litter being tracked around the house has stopped!!! I don’t know why I waited so long to get one of these mats for my 2 cats. The mat did come folded in a box which did crease it pretty badly, but I put it under my the litterbox with 40lbs of litter in it to flatten it out for a couple days. It is still kinda creased and raised in the center, but my cats don’t mind and I’m sure it will flatten out completely in time. It is lightweight and is the perfect size for my small space. It catches the litter so well and is easy to pour back in to the litterbox. I highly recommend and I can’t see ever not using a litter mat like this again, it is a life changer!

Would be great, but…
I have used mats like this in the past, and I got this one because of the extra large size.I appreciate that it came in completely recyclable packaging, but that was also its downfall. The mat comes folded in a box, and when I unfolded it, it wouldn’t lay flat. I left it under a heavy tabletop for three days and it still wouldn’t lay flat!Because it’s not quite flat–it kind of domes up in one spot and sinks down when you put weight there–one of my cats refuses to walk on it, and instead jumps over it to get out of the box, which completely defeats the purpose.The honeycomb edges on this mat are a little thicker and softer than other mats I’ve used, and so I think it’s more comfortable underfoot than my other mats. Well, it would be, if it would just lay flat!I hope the manufacturer is reading this and will consider sending this rolled up instead, because other than that it’s a good mat–well made and catches the litter.

Good design, bad packaging
Well made litter mat that catches the litter mess with no problems. Has a honeycomb design that is a little thicker and softer than other mats I currently have. This ones also a larger size so I can put it between a few different boxes between my 5 cats.The issue i have is the way it comes packaged. I comes in a recyclable box so it comes folded. I couldn’t get the fold to lay flat even after folding it in the opposite way. I laid it under the heaviest litter box for a few days and it still has a small dome like bend to it. Maybe ship it rolled instead of folded.

Perfect size
I love the size; it’s long enough to effectively catch most of the litter, unlike others I’ve tried.When it arrived, it was folded, but it was easy to straighten out. I simply folded it in the reverse direction, stood on it for a few seconds, then placed a tray table upside down in the middle with a 10 lb weight on top. It was completely flat within two days.The quality is very good, and it does a great job of collecting litter.
