I have always adopted adult cats but over the holidays I ended up taking a kitten that was headed for the shelter. I’ve been around kittens, of course, but never actually raised one of my own, so I was not prepared for how BUSY they are. My little guy was into everything (I’m not exaggerating) and he was climbing curtains, destroying rolls of toilet paper and even getting into the trash! I didn’t really have many cat toys, especially toys that did not require constant human interaction and I’m at work all day. I tried several things, and he’d play with anything for a few minutes, but then abandon it for the next cheap thrill. Right out of the box, he played with this thing 30+ minutes, left it to fling some kitty litter around, then came right back to it. I don’t care if it’s cardboard, it seems pretty sturdy and I’ll replace it every couple of months if I have to. I’ll update if anything changes but for now it’s Highly recommended!Update: July 27, so it’s been 6 months approx and my young cat still loves this toy, in fact he’s playing with it right now which prompted me to update this. Out of all the cat toys I purchased, this one got me the most bang for my buck and is still the favorite months later. My older cat (10+ years) has never touched it though, but she has never really played much with independent toys.

Great idea, good execution
I really like the idea of this toy as I had build something similar from a cardboard box that my cats kind of freaked out over, so I was excited to buy a nicely build version. I think maybe it’s just a little small to keep their interest or maybe too many holes to see the balls. They sometimes mess around with it if I get it going but rarely unfortunately. I would definitely buy again if another model or something came out. I think there’s a lot of potential and some cats will probably enjoy it.As for the sturdiness, I saw some reviews say that it sort of collapsed or fell apart quickly. While my cats haven’t gotten too rough with it, they still sit and lay on top of it and scratch it, both about 13lbs and the thing holds up. Give it a shot! It’s a nice looking toy too. I wish it were real wood but this isn’t Etsy and certainly would be paying a pretty penny for that

$1 play mice, saved this toy!
Out of the box, my cats lost interest right away. If they can never actually get the balls out, they’re done.Luckily, I was able to salvage this toy. I had a bag of play mice that I got for $1 at my local pet store, I took out 2 and put them down in the holes and WINNER, WINNER CHICKEN DINNER! My kitties went crazy for it. I have 5 cats total, 3 pictured but all 5 cats enjoy this and trying to catch the mouse.Why, is it so difficult for manufacturers to make cat toys that actually keep cats entertained? Don’t reinvent the wheel, they’re really very simple creatures. Give them a challenge where succeeding to win the prize is actually possible!

Cute toy but….
My cat has an old scratching post/perch with a ball track underneath that he loved to play with. I thought this would be a great replacement. He is a mitten cat so his front paws are big. 🐾 The holes unfortunately are too small. 😞 He tried it the first day and loss interest very quickly. Time to time he uses the scratcher. My review shouldn’t deter anyone from purchasing for your fur baby, every cat is different. 😺

Great toy
This was a gift for our son’s cat. The cat is very curious and loves to play with this puzzle toy. I highly recommend it for adventuress cats.

“I need help! I need help!”
It’s not a good sign when you hear “I need help! I need help!” being shouted by your significant other from the other room as he tried to get the toy out of the box the toy came in. I thought for sure he had cut himself with a box cutter or something. But no. Apparently the silica packet was busted, and while he was taking the toy out of the box, tiny little silica gel balls scattered all over our kitchen. Of course both cats were in the kitchen because of the jingle bell sounds the toy was making and then the silica balls. We had to herd them into a room and lock them in there while we tried to find all the little silica balls. It was a nightmare–pretty much the epitome of a dangerous cat toy. I am not sure how or why this happened, but PLEASE be careful when opening this toy and maybe do so AWAY from your cats in case you too encounter broken silica packets. Y’know, those things that say “DO NOT EAT” on them.

Came in damaged, was not packaged in protective wrap. Box was wet. Product is made of cardboard, hence, it was deformed from condensation. Not sturdy item, or packaged well, had to returned
