Attractive wooden ball spinner and scratch pad with spring toy for smaller cats and kittens.
This is a very nicely made cat toy and scratching station that seems very durable. The base is made from bamboo wood, which is very nice looking, and lends a quality appearance. The base holds two wooden balls and if desired, a bell, in a groove around the center scratch pad. The scratch pad is not cardboard, it is made from a woven sisal roap, and should last a very long time compared to the cardboard spiral wrap type. The surface of the pad is very smooth, but my cats are still quite happy to claw at it like little lunatics. The pad is only a bit over a foot in diameter, so I believe this is better suited to smaller cats and kittens than it is monster sized cats. Not that the big cats can’t still enjoy the ball spinner, they can, and they do, but they can’t sit and lay in the center of the scratch pad, which has become a favorite sleeping spot for a couple of smaller cats. There are two little wooden balls and a bell which go in the spinner track, and there is a notch in the wood on one side, where they can be fit into the track. The balls are also smaller than the ones in my other larger spinners that have the cardboard centers. That doesn’t mean they are not fun though, and the spinning balls get a lot of use, even from a couple of older cats I have, which is nice to see. The inside of the track on mine was slightly rough, as some others have mentioned, but not like splintery type rough, more like it just gives the balls a rougher ride than necessary. I was able to sand it smooth with a small piece of sandpaper in just a couple of minutes, and it did help the speed they can achieve spinning the balls. There is also a spring attached to the base that has a crackling type sound that comes from the cover over it, and it has a feather on the top of it to attract extra attention. I think this is a very well made cat toy that is a quality looking recreation center for your cats, and would look very nice in just about any type of setting. My cats like it, I like it, I think you and your cats would like it too, and it is selling for $6 off at the time of this writing, making this a very good deal for such a nicely made and attractive unit. 5 big Stars!

**SAFTEY WARNING: If you have dogs or small children, the included wooden balls are small enough to swallow.**Now, for my experience without dogs or children: My cats have always loved the roller ball toys that are widely available at pet stores, but they don’t exactly match our decor. In addition, the cardboard centers have to be replaced regularly and can’t be cleaned when the occasional body fluid gets involved. Still, my current cat has 3 that I can see from where I currently sit, and more in other rooms. She likes to sit on top of the cardboard as well as play with the ball itself. When this came up, I jumped to order because I love the idea that we can both get what we want! The wood quality of this is heavy and nice, and I love that the balls can be added or removed, as well as the included rolling bell. My husband works from home so the rolling bell might have to be a holiday addition, but as soon as I put it down with the two wooden balls in it, she was immediately intrigued. I am disappointed to find that the sisal mat doesn’t remove for washing or replacing, and the track for the balls is a bit smaller and a bit trickier for my big girl to navigate.My conclusion is that this is a bit pricey for something that can’t be updated once the scratch pad wears out, though I know that I’ll be the first to pry it off and sew my own replacement because the base is heavy and matches our decor much better than bright plastic. For safety concerns, if you have anybody in your house at risk to swallow things they shouldn’t, don’t order this. There’s no modification of the balls that would allow them to be safe. For these two reasons, I removed a star. However, this is a great concept and I hope the sellers continue to improve the safety and sustainability of this to make it a perfect product.

Very sturdy, so much of an upgrade compared to the crappy plastic ones.
There are a few things i can appreciate with his cat scratch pad. The first being that its very cute, I know thats not a fact more of an opinion but i cant help myself, its adorable with the wood look. Secondly i absolutly sppreciate that the pad has an opening in the track for the balls. I have 5 cats and 2 cheap plastic turntable scratchs from the common blue chain store and the cats pull the balls out of that SO easily!! With this wooden cat head turntable cat scratcher, the balls are on a closed little track and only one tiny little part of the track has divets for the ball to go into the track or come out. The cats have played and tried and havent gotten the balls out yet….untill they figure out the secret im a happy momma. Also, the other super helpful little addition that most plastic turntables dont have are the little rubber feet this comes with. The little black pads you see on the bottom are rubber little feet. I have hardwood floors and only a single carpet in the house….the purple on your seeing in the pictures on my side fo the bed. So the little rubber feet on the bottom help keep this scratcher where I put it, unlike the plastic ones that at this point you can probably tell that I hate them.I would absolutely recommend this to all my cat friends, this is very nice looking, very sturdy, good for any size cat and very appropriate pricing. A little smidge high, but worth it for the extra little things like the balls staying in the track and the non slip pads for the bottom.The instructions are very easy to follow and took less then a mintue for me to put together before the cats came swarming in to see the new toy (last picture shows almost 4 our of 5)
