Catit Senses 2.0 Food Tree – Sturdy Tree-Shaped Slow Feeder

$28.99

The Food Tree Cat Toy is based on the original Catit Food Maze but with several major design upgrades! The Food Tree is difficult to knock over thanks to its new broad stable base, and the top opening was reduced to prevent cheating cats from directly accessing the kibble in the cat bowl. The Senses 2.0 Food Tree acts as a cat slow feeder and is the feeding solution for cats that tend to eat quickly. Cats are required to move the dry kibble or treats from the top to the bottom of the cat puzzle by pawing through the side openings. The kibble ends up in a whisker-stress free cat food bowl, which prevents spillage. The slow feeder cat bowl can be set to various levels of difficulty by rotating the middle disc and adjusting the opening sizes. This cat puzzle feeder is also super easy to disassemble and clean; simply remove the base and top then hand wash. We recommend that you handwash this item with natural soap (free of abrasive materials) and water. Cat it is focused on creating cat enrichment toys for all cats especially indoor cats. Cat toys for indoor cats should encourage a cat’s natural foraging and hunting behaviors. Our Catit Senses 2.0 lines has created a wide variety of cat toys, with this in mind. super Smart fat kitty feeder
Could be made a little sturdier but this feeder has solved my fat cat problem. I have several obese cats that would eat a pound of food a day but this feeder takes effort and it’s not just a bowl full of cat food. After 3 weeks I have some very smart cats and they are finally losing some weight. This is healthy for them, I can also hear when someone is eating and see who it is. It’s really been a great addition for my indoor cats.

Finally… something to slow my cat down!
One of our three cats DEMANDS snackies before bed every night. If we forget… he lets us know it by trouncing across us in the middle of the night. However, he doesn’t know how to pace himself when eating his snackies… he just Hoovers them up, then looks around for more… and usually steals from the other two cats… and then throws them up. Argh!!I ordered this in hopes of slowing him down. I wanted to make him work for his snackies. And, surprisingly, this has worked quite well! At first, he sat and looked at the snackies in it, then back at us, then back at his snackies… wondering why we weren’t putting them on the floor. It’s as though he was thinking, “What is this weird contraption holding my snackies hostage?” His brother actually figured out how it works before he did. Once he watched how his brother did it a few times, he finally caught on and has been working at getting his snackies out now.We can put a decent pile in the top before bed and there are still snackies left in the morning, so it has definitely slowed him down. The funny thing is, he doesn’t bother us in the middle of the night to get them for him now, so that’s a good thing. We do have one cat who refuses to stoop to such lowly acts as to work for her snackies. She’ll sit and look at them, act like she doesn’t know how it works, then look at us as if to say, “I can’t get any. Will you help me? I’m starving.” We try to show her how it works, but she just waits for us to shake it so a few fall onto the bottom tray, or for us to pull a few out and put on the floor for her. She’s not stupid though. We’ve seen her pawing at them. She just doesn’t like working for them, so she never actually pulls any out. And, she knows when we’re watching to see if she’ll finally get some out because she stops and looks at us.I was a little worried that this would be tipsy because it’s just plastic, so it’s not heavy at all. But, surprisingly, the cats have never tipped it over. They just gently paw at the snacks and it doesn’t move.

Nothing magical, but does the job~
I got this to add the element of working for their snack, as opposed to just letting my new kittens free feed on dry food all day – and get in the habit of expecting food to be available at all times. They have mainly a wet food meal time diet, that is supplemented with kibble to give them a little variety.I have seen both my 11 week olds use it for snacks in between their main meals. My female figured out how it works fairly quickly (shes a smart little thing) but her dumber/slower brother needed to watch her for a few days before he placed a single paws on it, to get to the food. Initially he would just stare at the food confused, then stare at his sister with the “what sorcery is this” look on his cute little face. I was hoping they would engage with this a little more, but thats more to do with their dependence on wet food and not the product itself. For cats that free feed dry food 24/7 this would be a good addition a guardians arsenal of pet utility’s.Only downside is for those using it as a supplement between wet meals, being with the cats only looking to it for food once or twice a day, it becomes really easy to mis-judge how much kibble to place inside, and a fair amount will go stale by the time the cat gets motivated enough to work for it. I put 1/4 to 1/2 a cup in at first few fills and that was just far too much, for how much they would actually end up eating. But you sorta need that much to make it easy enough to get enough food to satisfy them, without them needing to be surgeons. Every 2-3 days I have to toss out and replace what they cant reach or gave up on with fresh kibble. The one I got arrived a bit messed up. It has a rubber ring on the base to give it some slip protection, and the ring had half fallen out. Only took a few minutes to fix it with some hot glue, but it was a little annoying. The tree itself is stable enough on its own, at least with my two kittens it hasnt been knocked over.Added bonus is the product box it comes in is perfect for kittens to play with. I cut a hole in the side and taped the top shut, and now it doubles as a little cubby/fort, and even though my cats have tree’s, tons of beds, and other types of play cubbys, they seem to really like that specific box as they are constantly both inside it wrestling, and I just see two little tails popping out the hole wiggling around~

As advertised and my cat seems very happy with it. Product is also very durable.

Assembly was quick and easy and done in a matter of 6 simple, self explanatary steps. Will be nice and easy to dismantle too for washing which is great. The clan immediately came running when they heard dry food being dished out, however, what they weren’t expecting was having to work for their dinner! My eldest was straight in but got frustrated very quickly as she likes to eat fast. This is exactly what I wanted for her though, both for speed of eating and weight management, so 👍🏻 already. My middle cat has definitely been the most engaged with it so far and loves to push food out just for fun.My kitten has so far only watched from a distance as he’s still learning about the pecking order at meal times. He has had a little go though and in typical ginger cat style, can’t quite work out what he needs to do to get his favourite kibble!
