Great clippers!
These are a great clippers. They are sharp for my puppies nails and easy to grip. She is currently a 35lb girl, but will get up to 70! I’ve only done them once, but it wasn’t a miserable experience. Hopefully it stays that way! I haven’t used the file, so I can’t comment on that. I have 3 cats as well, and I think they would work well for them – I just have to catch them first!

We have an 18 year old chihuahua who is the absolute light of our lives. I usually get her nails clipped at the vet’s but I forgot last time so I had to do it myself. I was not pleased to have to do this and be the person to make my poor chi chi scared. But the clippers worked well and we safely clipped her tips. None of us enjoyed any of it, but it went as well as can be expected.

clippers work great on doberman nails
my doberman has thick black nails but these clippers cut right through them. i love that they have a guard on them so that you don’t accidentally over cut the nails to the quick. the nail file didn’t work well for his nails, but we tend not to use a file with him because he doesn’t like his feet being touched. so we get in, clip and get out. these worked great. sharp and easy to use.

Good clippers with one little problem
I haven’t used the file yet and probably won’t. I wanted this to replace the clippers I have used for my dogs for years now. These clippers are sharp and work as expected. Just like my older pair. The two things that I don’t like about them are 1. they just feel cheap. The handles have cheap plastic on them. While this doesn’t stop them from being used, it’s just an observation. 2. Whenever I could cut a nail, the lock would immediately trigger. This meant that I would have to push it off after each cutting. Not a terrible thing, but it was annoying enough that I’m taking off a star. I don’t know if the screw is just to loose or what it is, but I really didn’t like that part.

Good quality nail trimmer
I have 6 cats and a dog so lots of nails to trim. I used the for a cat and dog- does the job. I often use my nail trimmers for other purposes. I cut the pet’s pills with them. Did you know it makes a smooth less dusty cut than a pill cutter? I cut my cat’s coated pills and several uncoated pills with these and realized my old clippers had gotten dull as these were nicer cuts. Handle grip is nice. Has a guard to keep you from cutting too short but on a dog with black nails you just have to get to know them. I like the file that came with the clippers. I filed the sharp front of the nail a little and it feels smoother- less likely to leave a big welt if she accidentally jumps on my lap. This is a good price for strong nail trimmers like these.

Okay for medium nails
My dogs are classified as large and sometimes giant at around 90-100lbs. One of my dogs has softer nails and these work well on those nails but my other dog has harder nails and these would split them. We keep our dogs nails short, so it takes a lot of effort with these to clip thicker sections.There isn’t much weight to these clippers so they can be easily used, but does make them feel flimsy and likely contribute to difficulties with thicker nails.
