I absolutely love the Cooling House for Cat Heated Cat Bed & Cooling Cat Cave! I got this for the feral cats who come around. I like it because it both cools and heats. This is the first one I have seen that does both. For now, I have only been able to try out the heating feature which does well. The built-in smart thermostat adjusts to both hot summers and cold winters. Summer can get hot here, and I wanted a place they could cool down.The cat house is light and easy to put together. I put it on some stone pavers to keep it off the ground. That brings me to my two suggestions. One, add a back door for safety. We have foxes in the area, and we have seen them chase the cats. I don’t like the idea that they can get trapped in there, so I cut out a hole in the back for them to escape. Second, I would put it on some feet. If it rains hard, the water can get inside the cat house. If you’re looking for a high-quality, functional cat bed that adjusts to the seasons, this is the one. I recommend this cat house to someone who wants something that both heats and cools.

Camping, curious cats, cold houses are all great reasons to get this heated/AC cat house
This is a smart cat house! It’s easy to assemble and has a short picture manual card included which shows how to put it together and how to use the electronic panel on the back of the house, which controls the temperature, negative ions for ionizing, which is supposed to help attach to allergens and other particles inside the cat house, weighing them down and causing them to fall to the carpet pad inside the house. In order to remove these particles, you can vacuum or wash the interior pad. The one issue I have is that there is an option to use F1 F2 or F3 (which I think is the ion feature) but all of these options are very loud except F1 and they scare my cats away. I’m still not sure if these also control how quickly the forced air goes into the house and if I leave it on F1, the lowest decibel, I can’t tell if the house is still warming up or not. The manual isn’t specific enough to tell me exactly how or what these control. I was hoping to use this house outside for two stray cats who show up to eat on my deck and it’s been so cold outside that my heart has been breaking for them. So, I hoped this would work well to keep them warm. The issue is that the electronic box which allows me to use the setting for heat, AC, set the temperature and the ionizer is exposed to the outside so I would imagine this wouldn’t be safe to use in rain or snow because it doesn’t seem waterproof. However, the materials which the house, itself, are made of feel like they are waterproof so perhaps I could cover the box in some form of waterproof tarp. I did plug it in outside today and put the stray cat’s food inside of it but he was very wary of it, which is to be expected since it’s new and he is feral. I let him see me place the food inside the house and he hesitantly put half his body inside while he ate and then ran away. There is a rubber or silicone velcro “door” for the cats to walk into the house through and it helps keep the heat inside but I’ve never had good luck with cat doors when it comes to litter boxes or any other cat products because they seem to deter them from going inside. So, I removed the door and my indoor cats went inside but came right back outside and I believe it’s because it has a strong industrial odor inside. I’m hoping that will fade but it’s strong. The inside of the house is insulated with, what looks like, the foil material used by survivalists to prevent hypothermia. They look like tin foil tarps but in this house it’s used as insulation which is a good function. Lastly, the current temperature inside the house is always displayed in LED in the front of the house which is quite sophisticated for a cat house.

Heats in winter, cools in summer; overheating shutoff
In the winter, our 2 semi-feral outdoor cats, Jacob and Seebert, want a warm place to nap and sleep when temperatures drop into freezing temperatures; in the summer, they seek safe places to stay cool when the temperatures and humidity soar high. This CooLTech Heated Cat Bed and Cooling Cat Cave are the solution for both types of weather. It is winter now, so after assembly and testing the heating and cooling options inside my house to be sure they work well, I put it on our covered front porch near the heated cat house they use now and set it to heat. It does produce some noise, but I tossed in a few cat treats each day, and after a few days of checking it out, I was happy to spot our more curious cat, Jacob, coming out of it in the early morning when I was filling their cat bowls. I am using a GFCI outlet on a raised covered porch in a location that does not get snow or rain since this cat bed cat cave does not have legs or a platform.

Feral Cat Comfort
I ordered the Heated and Cooling Cat House to help the feral cats in my area. I’ve been part of a program to help control the cat population by trapping, neutering, and returning them, and I’m always looking for ways to make their lives more comfortable. This cat house is small but can fit one or two smaller cats. It’s well-made and super easy to set up. The temperature controls work well and keep the inside cozy. It hasn’t been warm enough yet to use the A/C function.However, I think it’s best to use this cat house in a sheltered spot rather than leaving it outside in the open. I wouldn’t rely on it to keep the cats dry during heavy rain since it might not hold up well. I also had to take off the plastic door because I don’t think the feral cats would go inside with it attached. At first, it took the cats some time to feel comfortable with the house, mostly because the fan makes a bit of noise.

Easy to setup, comfy for my cats
Quick and easy setup. The instructions are clear and the different heating and cooling modes are easy to understand. My cats were instantly interested and the fan setting on low didn’t turn them off. Only time will tell if they decide to take advantage of this cozy cat house. It’s smaller than I expected, but fine for a single cat or maybe two cats that like each other.
