A Scratch Above the Rest – The Pink Flamingo Scratcher My Cats Didn’t Know They Needed
As a responsible cat servant, I am always on the hunt for new and exciting ways to keep my feline overlords entertained. Enter the Pink Flamingo Cat Scratcher by Gulf Coast Exotic Pets—a masterpiece of art, pure function and a tad bit of absurdity (on my part) because I could have picked a boring scratcher with zero personality – but our family deserves better. 🦩I loved it from the moment my husband pulled out the carefully crafted fuzzy pink flamingo head with a shiny gold crown 👑 on it. It was very easy to put together – all of the screws and a small wrench were included in an adorable cardboard box with a flamingo theme on it. He put it together in less than ten minutes. He then presented it to our reviewers – the cats.At first, my cats were skeptical. Penny, my tortoiseshell queen of the household, gave it a side-eye that said, “You expect me to acknowledge this?” Meanwhile, Scout, my tiny orange agent of chaos, immediately climbed onto its back like she was preparing for battle with an unknown foe.After a few hours of suspicious circling, the verdict was in: this thing is a hit. The sturdy base holds up to even the wildest zoomies, and the sisal-wrapped flamingo neck is apparently the perfect texture for sharpening their tiny murder mittens. Bonus: the soft pink fluffy “feathers” on top provide the ideal spot for ambush naps. Scout loves to crawl in the barrel of the flamingo to watch us and have her long striped tail sticking out the other side. Penny loves to scratch the flamingo’s legs and lounge at the base. Additionally, Penny loves to claw at the little soft white crinkle wings on each side. The material isn’t thick but it’s ridiculously strong. I’ve only vacuumed a few light pink fibers off the floor which makes me very happy ♥️As a human, I appreciate the sheer ridiculousness of having a giant pink flamingo in my living room. It adds a touch of pure Florida kitsch without requiring us to actually live in Florida (a definite win).Final rating? 5 paws. 5 stars. 2 thumbs up.It’s functional, fabulous, and just the right amount of ridiculous—much like my cats themselves. Extremely quick shipping, a great quality product and incredibly sturdy. My girls adore it and use it daily. Highly recommended! 🐾🐾 If I had to be critical of one aspect of this flamingo, it would be that the size is suitable for a kitty under 10-12 pounds so that they can fit in the barrel of the flamingo. But as Gulf Coast Exotic Pets described it correctly as a cat scratcher and not as a cat tree or cat house (so it’s an added bonus), I can’t complain at all that Penny is too chunky to fit in the barrel. The overall size is perfect for our apartment and is a fun conversation piece for family and friends who stop by 🦩
