Great toy for large dogs!
This is a great item, but I would say it’s only for large dogs! I’m not sure if a small dog could handle it, because it’s pretty big. But, I could be wrong. We have a GSD/Lab mix, and he is big…bigger than average German Shepherds, and he is able to handle this; I just couldn’t imagine a small dog trying to hold onto it! That being said; it’s great! It adjusts to hold different sizes, and it keeps the treat/bully firmly in place. Then, it’s a challenge for them…so it keeps them busy for a while, trying to get that little piece out. But my dog wasn’t able to do it, which is great, because we didn’t want him to have the little piece. That’s the whole point; to he won’t be able to swallow it whole or choke on it. Still, he had fun trying! And as a treat dispenser, it’s just alright. That was fun for him too, and you can adjust the little hole where the treats come out of, to the size of the treat. But, they do all come out at once, so it won’t keep him busy for long. It’s not like it will just dispense one at a time. I still think this toy is definitely one of the better ones that we’ve received. He hasn’t destroyed it yet, and the box of this item says it’s safe even if they do swallow some of it, and not to worry. I will buy this again, if it wears out one day!

Prevents choking on chew sticks.
I wasn’t sure about this product but have concerns about my 1 year old Aussie doodle choking on his chew sticks as he has a tendency to through them back in his mouth. Saw this and decided to give it a try. The chew stick inserts into the hole and you tighten to hold the stick in place. It’s rather clever. Doggy gets to chew and I don’t have to worry. I was surprised that the whole thing is made of hard plastic instead of rubber or something that doesn’t hit so hard when dropped. I think that could be an improvement, but as is it does prevent my pouch from choking which was the point. Will update if I see that it starts to loosen over time.

Does the trick to help my dog!
I have a shepherd mix that tends to just eat things whole when it comes to treats rather than chew them. So I try to keep an eye on him when I give him rawhide chews of any size. I saw this and liked that it had a dual purpose. I love things that have more than one purpose. It has a spot that you can put dog kibble or dry treats and their rawhide or bulky sticks. Win win! I put the treats he likes in the hole that is for treats, and sealed it some. I wasn’t sure if he’d be able to figure it out right away so I didn’t want him to give up. And I also put one of his bulky sticks in it. The treats he was able to find fairly easily which made me happy. So I knew next time I could make it harder for him. Then for the bulky sticks, I had to figure out how far down the end to put it to keep it safe and not waste too much. Bully sticks aren’t cheap! But after a couple of them I found a sweet spot that worked. He was able to pick up one end and take it to his spot to work on it. And then hide it. LOL he has his spot he “hides” it. But it works like described and he chewed on it until he couldn’t access the end anymore. I took the holder, and disposed of the end.So it worked like I expected it to, and it stopped my dog from gagging on the bigger piece he always tries to swallow. I now feel way more comfortable giving him bulky sticks or something similar! The only downside is you have to pay attention to the circumference of the chew so it’ll fit and still screw in properly to hold it. Definitely a good option!

Great for slow feeding meals or entertaining a dog while they get treats.
Grabbed this item for my 30 pound dog. He is food motivated and a little anxious so I had hoped this toy would stimulate him a bit and give him something to do in addition to being a vehicle for a snack. Our dog really took to this toy, we did have to show him how to get the food out, but once we did he caught on quickly. The dispensing area is adjustable so you can change the size of the hole for how big the snack/food is. Too big and the treats tumble out too quickly, so be mindful of that. I’ve also put 1/2 a cup of dog food in this to give him his breakfast. This helps him eat it slowly and keeps him entertained while I have my cup of coffee. I’d say 1/2 a cup is the top end for what will fit inside, in terms of capacity.I have also used this toy to hold bullysticks as well. It did seem to prolong the treat eating experience for my dog, because he wasn’t used to having something attached on the other end of it. He eventually came around and got used to it as well. The bullystick remained firmly where I had put it into the toy, which impressed me. My dog is a chewer, I thought he’d break it free. That being said definitely watch your dog while you give them this toy, mine was prone to wanting to chew the toy itself after all the treats were gone. This was a 5/5 toy for our dog though, I’m glad I grabbed this for him!

Solid plastic that stands up to big dogs
This is a handy way to give your larger dog stick-like treats that prevent them from getting the last part. You know, the part they like to suck down their throat and barf up, and repeat the process. My big dog wasn’t as interested in the food game – where they can roll it around and treats come out but that’s just my dog. It works, so it just depends on your dog.The plastic is solid. It would take a lot to break it. Small dogs… They wouldn’t like this one. If you have a big dog, this might be fun.Red – I like it because it’s easy to spot.TIP: You turn the base to move the pillar up and down to lock in whatever stick treat you want to use.
