The cat likes it
Well first of all I did not pay much attention to the dimensions so for two black labs this thing was pretty small. When I took it out of the package I put it down on my floor and put my feet on it although I could not tell a temperature difference between the mat and my hardwood floor I could between the mat and the carpet. I took it outside and put it on my deck on a hot day which my dogs did not seem to even notice it was there. I was able to get one of my dogs to sit on it but it did not seem to impress her enough to want to lay down on it. I have a blanket that is similar material and supposed to keep you cool on hot nights and although I can feel any noticeable difference with the blanket I do not feel one with this little mat. I brought it back inside and laid it back on the floor and I will say that my cat seems to really enjoy it. I’m not sure if it’s because of the temperature or just because he wants something to lay on and it seems to be the right size for him. So because my cat does seem to enjoy it I am giving it three stars but if you are wanting it to keep your pets a little more cool on a hot day I’m not sure if this is the best thing!

A good idea, but not particularly effective
Not sure what I was expecting from this pet cooling mat but from the pictures and write up in the advertisement it sounded somewhat magical. In reality, it’s just a piece of layered, unattractive-looking material with backing on it. I’m not getting where the ice-silk cooling effect is coming from. I put the mat out on our deck in the sun to see if it indeed had a cooling effect, but all it really did was insulate against the hot decking.While you can see the various layers (as per the product description) used in its construction, each layer is so thin that I don’t think there’s a lot of ventilation occurring. Also not padded enough to make it comfortable as a bed, I would think. Now reduced to something like $7, it’s not a waste of money… but it’s also not particularly effective.

Decent mat, if your dogs will use it
The material of this cooling mat feels like good quality, and the non-slip bottom works well to keep it in place. Our smaller husky (around 25–30 lbs) mostly fits on it comfortably, though it might be a bit tight for larger dogs. Unfortunately, our pomeranian shows no interest in it at all. While the mat does have a cool touch to it, our home has tile floors that stay even cooler, so both of our dogs usually prefer lying directly on the floor instead. It might work better in carpeted homes or warmer environments, but for us, it’s not getting much use.

Works in general, but not too effective in the aun
I put this in my dog’s bed that he lays in on our deck, and it seems to work okay when it’s in a shaded area or on a cloudy day, but when used in a sunny area, it gets just as warm as the bed does without the cooling blanket. It does seem pretty durable – I’ve washed it a couple of times and it’s held up well – but I don’t think it lives up to the hype in the listing about keeping the dog cool.
