Attractive
The kit has attractive items but one of the scissors is already dulling and I have only used them several times on a Shih tzu puppy. They do not have fur but hair and it is not thick to have caused a dulling of the blades.

These shears just didn’t cut that great — even right out of the box. They caught a little bit on my dog’s hair, which made it unpleasant for her and frustrating for me. She is a very big dog, a Newfoundland mix, and honestly the shears seemed to get duller while I was trimming her. These might work for people with a smaller dog who don’t do a lot of cutting, but I wouldn’t get these again. **Note** I am not a professional groomer — this is just my opinion as a home hacker!

Stunning Look and Sharp Blades
I ordered this set of CityWish Pet Grooming tools to help my wife and me (mostly my wife) help two of our cats stay nice and groomed. They are both long haired cats, and when their fur gets too long it leads to problems when they groom themselves and ingest excessive amounts of fur. Also, even when their fur is a manageable length they sometimes need a bit of help keeping their “nether regions” clean. The fact that the scissors in this kit have rounded tips vs the sharp tips of conventional scissors helps with this, since we definitely don’t want to accidentally injure them especially in that particular very sensitive area.The kit comes with upturn and downturn curved scissors, two pairs of thinning scissors (one dense toothed and one thin toothed), a very nice quality stainless steel comb especially useful for combing out loose fur in the kitty’s undercoat, and a hemostat clamp. At first I didn’t understand why the clamp was included, but then I saw a picture on the product ad that seemed to show the tool being used to hold a small piece of cloth (such as a 2X2 piece of gauze) to gently rub the pet’s ears for general cleaning and ear mite removal. OK, makes sense now, and this looks like it can definitely be useful. The kit also includes a zippered storage case that hold all the tools included in the kit (sort of). There are straps that hold all the shears, but no slots dedicated to the hemostats, the comb, or the included tension adjustment tool. It’s a good thing that the case is included at all, but would have been even better if it held all the components in the kit, even if there was an integrated inner pouch for the non-shear tools just so they would have a place to be held without flopping around in the case potentially marring that beautiful finish coating. Speaking of the coating, it is responsible for the stunning look of the components in this set. It gives the tools a very professional and luxurious look in my opinion. I’m not sure what this adds to the utility or longevity of the tools, however. But they do look very nice, especially with the pretty red faceted “jewels” at the shears’ pivot points.In any case, the shears are very comfortable to hold and use, and the soft bumper on the stopper of the thumb ring allows the scissors to close smoothly, without the slight jarring feel of metal on metal. The tension of the scissors is adjustable as well (a universal tension key is included, as mentioned previously). The tension adjustment is of high quality with click stops to ensure that the tension will maintain the set amount snip after snip.One of the thinning shears in the kit (not sure which one) is called a “fishbone scissors”, which I have never heard of before. I looked the term up online and saw several references to them (including some videos explaining how to use them). None of the references I found resemble any of the tools in this kit, though. I guess the best course of action is to try out both thinning shears in the kit and see how they cut, and use them as appropriate. Neither my wife nor I are professional pet groomers, we just want to keep our kitties comfortable and looking good as well as helping them maintain good sanitation while trying to avoid the high expenditure of regular professional grooming. This kit will definitely help us towards that end.

Good quality for price
I got another set of scissors from this brand, and I was very impressed with them, so when these came up with a scissor style I didn’t have yet, I decided to grab these too.So far, they seem to be pretty decent quality scissors. They were very sharp out of the case, the grips are comfortable, and they worked well for a quick trim around my doodle’s face and topknot. I have only used the curved shears and the thinning shears so far.The finish is beautiful. It turns bronze when wet, which is cool.Sadly, they don’t seem to be as nice as my other set from this brand. They don’t have adjustable tightness, and the steel doesn’t seem to be quite the same quality–the first set makes a *snikt* sound when they close, and these ones make a much softer sound that I associate with cheaper metal. I think that might be the coating over the metal, which the other set doesn’t have.Also, the case only has holes for four of the tools, which I don’t like.They’re still pretty good quality for the money, and I do like the set. I just like the other set better, which disappoints me, as this one is so much prettier.

Beautiful equipment
These are gorgeous implements! And purple isn’t my favorite color, but I sure like it on the metal tools in this kit.I tried the scissors, comb, and the clamp. The scissors are super sharp! The clamp is tight. The comb is wide-toothed, and holds onto the hair just enough for cutting.The case these came in has a zipper that goes around three sides, and opens like a book. Oddly, there are only four allotted tabbed(?) holders for scissors, and the clamps and comb just lie on top of those. I’m not sure what the little gear-looking gizmo is for, exactly, but I think maybe it’s to tighten the screws on the scissors. (??) The polishing cloth included is very soft, and probably just the right size, though small.Our dog groomer just retired, as a matter of fact, and we like to keep our fluffy, overgrown Australian Shepherd mix trimmed around his britches and belly. Especially in wet/snowy weather. This set is perfect!
