I tested this in my freezer with both food and water.
In Oklahoma we have not had our first freeze yet. So I tested the unit in my deep freeze for 2 days. It worked great. The water was not warm, temperature was pleasant to the touch, yet had no ice crystals, as with a cheaper unit I have used in the past. The canned cat food in the other bowl remained unfrozen, a little stiff but did not stop my house cat from eating it.I will be using this with my chickens, who tend to turn everything over. They have used it a day with no issues. It is heavy, slick, easy to clean, the stainless bowls are study and removable to allow cleaning and allows them to be taken inside to refill/clean.Overall a 5 star product. As soon as you take it out of the box it has a feel of quality.

Cats love it! Water doesn’t freeze
I like that it is easy without different temp settings. It works and isn’t hot. The cats didn’t act strange about it and it keeps both food and water from being cold but not hot. It’s not dangerous for them and is normal size food bowls. I’m buying for the dogs too!

Billy’s Winter Essential

Purrfect for outdoor cat
I was adopted by a beautiful outdoor cat this winter. She has been taken care of before…her ear is clipped.She loves this hested food dish. Temps dropped below zero many times this past werk. The water stayed slightly warm and her food stayed moist (she prefers wet food) and slightly warm the whole time. She refuses to come in doors, but is always here for meals!

Works Perfectly
Doesn’t get hot. Keeps mousers hydrated. Unheated water 4 feet away is frozen. I like that the unit is completely overmolded with plastic or rubber with removable stainless bowls. Also, the cord is long enough and the instructions say an extension cord is OK. Highly recommended.

I use the bowls without the base
I like the size of the bowls, I use them without the base/holder since it has to be plugged in. I like that the ability for heated bowls is there if needed.

Saved my outdoor cats
This bowl works great. We are in Michigan so it’s very cold and water was freezing immediately. I also use it for their wet cat food and it keeps from freezing as well. Perfect size bowls.

Heated pet bowl
On time delivery. Nice looking. Warms water dish quickly and keeps water from freezing. We live in western Pennsylvania and the weather gets very cold. Water has not frozen and we were 2° and a -6° windchill last night. Great product.
