Not 100% Chew/Scratch Proof, but better than alternatives
I don’t usually write reviews, but for this product I had to. I have a suggestion as well to make this bed work like it’s intended.I received it yesterday and I’m pleased but concerned. Especially because of the cost and how it’s already been ripped through. I don’t expect anything to be 100% effective, but being ripped and chewed through in less than 24 hours is not worth the price point it’s being sold at.Let’s start with packaging:It was put in a flimsy plastic bag and stuffed in an Amazon box. The poles ripped through the bag, but luckily nothing was missing. For $80+, I expected it to at least be in its own packaging. The bed itself was vacuum sealed which was a plus.Next, assembly:It didn’t come with instructions, but assembly seemed pretty straight forward. It did take some time to get it put together, and attaching the pole coverings on the sides and corners was a pain! It took about 15-20 minutes to get them aligned and put together.Quality:The bed itself is comfortable and pretty thick, but definitely not scratch or chew proof. I’ve only had it one day, and my dog has already ripped through the fabric. I can’t justify spending that kind of money on something that gets destroyed in less than 24 hours. Especially how it’s being advertised. However, there’s not much out in the market for scratch/chew proof beds that fit inside the kennel. I don’t know if I got a bad bed, but I haven’t even had it 24 hours and there’s already a hole in it. VERY FRUSTRATING!The problem is the seam that goes around the bed to separate the bed cushion from the part that goes through the poles to secure it. My dog can easily pick at it with his teeth/nails and this is how it ripped. If you made it seemless from end to end, this would fix the problem immediately. No other areas were touched, so the seem is the culprit. The poles are made of painted aluminum and scratch easily. Cosmetic for sure, but worth mentioning. The middle pole covers along the long edge that secure and cover the poles, should be done away with and just have one long pole along the long side. It comes with 2 separate pole sections that you secure with these covers, and I think that’s not needed at all if you just have one long pole. The corners can secure it fine by itself.Fit inside kennel:Like a charm! It fits perfect and I was able to set it on top of the plastic along the bottom of the kennel. Not sure what it’s called, but I’m sure you know what I’m talking about if you have a kennel. It doesn’t wobble and fits snug up against the kennel.Overall opinion:I think it’s great, but needs some work to truly make it shine and be worth the cost. I’ll list my suggestions next.Suggestions:- Make it 100% SEEMLESS! Any part of the fabric that extrudes from the bedding is game-on for dogs. Especially if they’re bored waiting for you to get home from work.- Box it up in better packaging. If I’m paying $80+ on a dog bed, I expect a better level of care. It looked like it was thrown together and tossed in a bag. Not a good representation of your company or its values.- Make the poles on the long edge one piece. The corners alone secure it just fine and this would make assembly much easier.- Include assembly instructions. Although assembly is pretty straight forward, I shouldn’t have to guess or come back to Amazon to read the description on how to assemble it.I give this 4 stars because there’s not much on the market that’s chew/scratch proof that fit inside kennels, but highly considered 3 stars because it’s already been ripped and chewed through. I bought and returned something from another vendor that has something similar, but it doesn’t fit inside the kennel. The quality was spectacular though and they nailed it in terms of sturdiness and protection. They’re even had it already assembled and in great packaging. They took my suggestions and are in the process of making one that does fit inside a kennel and if they do, that will be quite competitive compared to this one. I hope this company takes my suggestions to heart as well and makes the necessary changes. If they do, I can see this product being a big seller for them.

    Assembly awful
I am so disappointed in K9 ballistics i have ordered 3 of their crate beds in the past and we have a new puppy so wanted another for his crate . The ones i have ordered before came put together in tact with the metal edge. This one came in pieces with no directions and i had to come back to Amazon to find directions and a video when i almost returned it. This was awful to put together and i don’t think it is 100% right but for now it’ll do. Super disappointed and wound be ordering again

    Not Chew Proof!
Difficult to assemble the frame since there are no pre established holes for the side rails. However, 1st night my 7mo old Black Lab Pup chewed right through the fabric and proceeded to have a party with the stuffing.

So far it is indestructible for my very destructive large puppy
I received a smaller mat before and swore if my puppy(80 lb German Shepherd puppy) didn’t rip it apart,I would get him a larger one. Well, here we are! This crate ” mat” is thick, easily cleaned, appears comfy and best of all, stays in one piece! It fits so nicely in his crate and is very sturdy with the frame pieces inserted . It is pricey, but if I don’t have to buy (and clean up) multiple other shredded beds, it is well worth the price. I would have given it 5 stars IF any instructions had been included ( I had to watch the video on Amazon) and if the packaging wasn’t ripped and things were falling out of it! Thankfully, all of the parts were still in the ripped plastic , but it was a miracle. They should use some of their no chew material for packaging! My dog and I are super happy with this no-chew bed!

    Rosie-proof crate mat
This is the only crate bed that can hold up to my 7-pound terror – Rosie the Riveter. She’s part Chihuahua and part Tasmanian devil. She does not like being crated and destroys anything we have put in there with her. Unfortunately, she has a tendency to eat paper, dust, and anything else she finds in the restroom waste bin. For that reason, she must be locked up if left alone. This crate mat is aluminum backed and made of a rip-stop material. The edging is aluminum as well. Try as she might, Rosie can’t damage it. It also provides some nice padding for her paws as she jumps up and claws it. Overall, very durable.

    Tough bed
This bed so far seems very durable and I love that it’s not just flat but actually stuffed and soft. My almost 1 year old power chewing pittie has eaten every bed I’ve given her so far in the month she’s been a part of our family. This frame on the bed doesn’t allow her to grab ahold of it anywhere and destroy it. Awake Kona is probably annoyed by that, but I’m sure sleeping Kona appreciates a soft bed. My biggest gripe is that the bed didn’t come with any instructions. I had to disassemble what I’d already assembled when I realized some pieces were different sizes. Once I figured that out it was easy enough to assemble but instructions would have been a nice addition. Overall I’m impressed and would recommend this bed if you, like me, have a dog that thinks her bed is a toy awake but wants somewhere soft to sleep when it’s bedtime.
