This product is unable to cut my dogs nails. She is about 80 pounds and when I squeezed the handle, the cutter shattered the nail into splinters instead of cutting them. Just not good for big nails, but seller was very receptive to the problems.

Broke by the third foot
This worked great for two feet. By the third foot the guillotine didn’t close all the way. We watched a video on how to change the blade (an identical unit from another company comes with a spare blade) and tried that, but no luck. It is made of cheap plastic. Save your money and get one made of steel. The light and magnifier are a great idea, but they’re useless without a working blade. It should go in the trash, but I’ll return it for a refund.

For light to medium size cutting
Batteries were shot on arrival. One partially corroded and the other 2 were weak. Light did not work.They cut fairly well while new and blades sharp. My 55 lb dogs were cut ok. The handle seems to flex/ bend on the larger labs nails. Only time until it breaks. We will go with it for now.

Not right for every nail!
First let me say I think the idea of this product is amazing! A lighted pair of clippers and the option of magnifying is great. That being said, these in particular need some improvements.First thing I noticed was they stick after they’re closed (after you make the cut). The handles and inside parts are entirely plastic, which makes them feel as if they’ll crack of you squeezed too hard. The blades are metal and that’s the only metal I see on them. The magnifying /safety piece is not good, much too difficult to see through because it’s a cheaper plastic like a kids plastic magnifying glass. The button that slides for the light being on/off/on when clipping also slides back and forth very easily when you’re trimming.These worked fairly well for our two 50 pound pitties who have thinner nails, but for our 75 pound German Shorthaired Pointer, they weren’t quite strong enough. It took several times of doing small trims to get one nail done because his nails are thick. The light wasn’t helpful on his because of how dark his nails are and the fact the light is placed on the top of the clippers so it doesn’t illuminate the entire nail in order to see through a darker nail,so I had to use a small flashlight like I normally do anyways.If you have a dog that doesn’t have thick or very dark nails, this will probably be great and you won’t need anything else. For our fur babies, this isn’t going to work well and I am still looking for that great pair of trimmers!

These nail clippers got hung on my dogs nail and split down the side.
I have lots of experience cutting my own dogs nails and after we got our new 5 month I had to purchase another pair. I liked the light idea so gave these a try. The light is great at finding the vein. Everything else about these clippers feels cheap and as if it will fall apart quickly. Good grippers on the handles. I got through two of my dogs feet and on the last toe on one of her front feet and her nail got hung between the blade and the bar that holds the nail in place for the blade to slice. Luckily she was very calm and sweet about it. Her nail was split down the side and started to bleed. I got the clipper unstuck by prying them open. I hope it didn’t traumatize her for life. Ordering another pair of a different type and brand.
