NOT chew/tear proof.
Warning to anyone with a dog that chews and tears things up: DO NOT buy this. My German Shepard used this for two days and tore it up completely. The foam filler mattress came out of the cover very easily. It is not as tough as advertised and is not worth the money.

Finally found a bed that our Poodle gave up biting on
Our standard Poodle has destroyed every bed we’ve given to him, and when I saw that this advertised as being “indestructible” I just laughed, but then decided to try it. I will say, it is tougher than any other bed we’ve found, but it is definitely not chew proof or indestructible. The material is pretty tough, and it was enough to make our dog bored with it. There just didn’t seem to be any reward to him with biting/chewing, and he just taught himself to not try. Not sure if this will happen for others, but we really like it. Its thin, but definitely better than sitting on a bare floor, and he naps on it daily.

Not indestructible
We got this item on a Monday. My dog ripped it to pieces on Thursday. It is not indestructible. He was in his cage for 2 hours and managed to rip it to shreds. Would not spend my money on this.

Material ok zipper done for
My dog had this destroyed. Not sure if the zipper stitching was not great or what but he ripped the zipper apart.

One super-sturdy dog bed/crate pad- but not indestructible
This is indeed a very sturdy, tough dog bed/crate pad (it’s more the latter than the former, being a simple flat rectangle with no bolster sides). The cover fabric is very heavyweight high-denier oxford cloth, with the bottom covered in non-slip dots that really do grip smooth surfaces. The top side adds a waterproof TPU layer under the oxford (ie between the fabric and the foam insert) to prevent any spills or “accidents” from leaking into the foam pad interior, and then on top of the oxford top layer is a velvet-finish quilted fabric that provides a very soft hand to the otherwise fairly stiff fabric of the cover. The foam insert is firm but pliable, so it should stay supportive for a decent period before it starts to break down and compress from repeated use (as all foams eventually do). Is this bed “indestructible”? No, but it’s definitely one of the tougher-seeming (and well-constructed) crate pads I’ve ever seen, and I’ve been buying crate pads for over 25 years now. I wonder whether the reviewers who said their dogs destroyed this bed in a few days or hours have ever found a pad that is actually more durable? I also wonder whether their dogs “attacked” the beds due to residual manufacturing smells – this was vacuum-compressed since it left the factory, and had some foam odor to it when opened. I imagine it’s possible the dogs were trying to find where the smell was coming from and thus ripped through the fabric cover? Just a thought. If your dog isn’t an obsessive chewer with a known tendency to destroy bedding and other objects, and you just want an extremely durable, waterproof crate pad that should last for several years of normal use, I think you’ll be happy with this one!

Foam Pad was a different size than the outer cover
This pad was very awkward to use. The inner foam pad was 27″ by 39″, but the out cover was 23 1/2″ by 35″. I was able to use it by folding the foam in half to fit it in the cover, but then the foam didn’t reach the edges of the cover. The foam seems soft enough, and the cover sturdy enough. But the difference in sizes of the foam and cover just made it awkward.

Not made of solid steel, but good for my dog
I have a large-breed puppy that’s been destroying beds since birth. He’s not one of the “super-chewers” out there than can destroy steel cable, but he does like to chew and claw at his beds. This bed has been in his crate for a few weeks now and it’s still looking great. He claws at the velvet surface a lot to make a place to lay down, but you really couldn’t tell by just looking at the surface. It’s a very dense bed, so there’s nothing for him to wad-up and chew on besides the corners…and he hasn’t tried those yet. This bed is made to fit in standard crate dimensions, and it fit’s like a glove in ours. The corners are lined up with the corner of the crate with very little if any space remaining. That may help to keep him from getting to the corners. The foam that goes inside of this rather thin bed is a tight fit – as almost all the reviews mention. I was able to work it into the case and stretch it into all the corners with a little effort though. I did walk all over it to make sure that all the wavy sections were flattened out once I zipped it up. I wouldn’t suggest trimming the foam since the tightness of the final fit is part of the security against chewing. For someone looking for a more durable bed than you can find at the pet store, I think this is a great option. If you have a dog that can destroy a rope toy or heavy nylon toys in seconds…I don’t think you’re going to find a bed made of anything that they won’t destroy.
