Took a Minute, but Now Cat is Obsessed
I got this as a gift for my aunt’s cat, Oliver and at first Oliver just stared at it like it was an alien and hid from it. After a few days, he finally started playing with it and now he’s hooked. The different speed modes keep things interesting and it’s quiet enough not to drive my aunt crazy. Great gift if you’ve got a bored indoor cat and a little patience.

Cute; attention grabbing; not best for ‘spectator’ cats
Product comes with 2 attachments. One is clearly meant to dangle from the ball, but the bunny ear scrunchie thing? Not sure of its purpose. It goes around the circumference of the ball, but it falls off pretty quickly that way.The power button is under that orangey red rubber/silicone skin on the ball. There’s a slight power symbol on the skin that indicates the power button, but I didn’t see it for the first night b/c it’s so faint.I don’t think it has good “object avoidance” as it’s constantly driving into something. But it also zigs and zags unpredictably to keep cats interested. It does seem to get itself out of sticky situations which is nice, so you don’t have to constantly babysit it.The light is bright and flashes so it captures the cat’s attention. It is kind of loud – think of the sound and loudness of a standard kid’s remote controlled car.I thought the bag was kind of pointless at first, but it’s actually pretty good to keep the ball in an enclosed area…because it will tear off all around your house. The ball’s movements are unpredictable and the aforementioned sound is a little off-putting to cats, at least at first. They were very interested in the ball, but kind of scared of it too. Put it in the bag? Magically not scary anymore. Cats also love the hidden toy game, so this is great. One thing to definitely note is that the ball has a slightly rubberized surface for traction so it picks up things like hair and lint, which will migrate over into the axel or whatever. After a little while the build up around the gear will slow it down and burn through battery faster. You really should try to use this on a recently swept/vacuumed surface. Every time I turn it off I take a pair of tweezers or a small flat head screwdriver and pull out and stowaway hair wrapped around the gears. It’s easier to do it each time than wait until you have a massive wad and the ball barely moves. The battery life: the instructions claim it has 2hrs of playtime on a single charge. I turned it on immediately after it arrived (w/o charging it first) and we probably got at least a solid half hour out of it. It finished out playtime in the bag, so I’m not entirely sure if the battery died, or if it went to sleep/standby. I’m not sure how standby mode works in the bag, like what it takes to wake the ball from standby. It does seem to go into standby mode kind of quickly if you have a cat that likes to watch. Also, #4 in the instructions say “by default the speaker turns on when turned on press twice to turn off the speaker (the red light flashes twice) and press twice again to turn it on (the green light flashes)” …..what speaker??I follow these instructions out of curiosity and although I was able to make the red light and the green light flash, I didn’t hear any change or other sound from the device so I don’t know what that’s about.

    Cat seems to enjoy it
I bought the Interactive Cat Toy for my cat, and while she does enjoy it, it’s not perfect. The motion activation is fun for her, and the 3 speed modes keep her engaged for a while. The ball rolls around decently, but sometimes it gets stuck or doesn’t activate properly. The pouch is a nice touch, but I feel like it could be a bit sturdier. Overall, it’s a good toy to keep my cat entertained, but it’s not as flawless as I hoped. Definitely does the job, just has a few quirks.

My cats were meh, but the product itself is good
This cat toy is a great concept, but I just couldn’t get any of my four cats to bother with it very long. Despite their interest shown in my video and photo, I say this because I got another toy for them around the same time where a wand with a feather on the end moves around a base under a fabric and they go nuts for that thing. So much so that we have to put it away and only bring it out once in a while so they don’t get bored with it. They spent maybe 3-5 minutes with this one and would walk away. With this toy, you get a large square fabric enclosure with a rechargeable ball (with a sort of bunny jacket) that goes inside, flashing lights and moving around erratically. Okay, that mimics a mouse or another animal enough, it should get their attention. It does, but it’s almost like it’s too easy to figure out that it’s just an electronic ruse to get them to play. I’m attaching a video to show what I mean. Their initial interest only lasted briefly. That means more work for me to keep trying to get them to engage with it. I even took the ball out and put it on the floor to move around, outside the concealment fabric “cage”, but that was even less successful. It was the equivalent of trying to get them to chase a remote controlled car– just because it moves doesn’t mean a cat thinks it can eat it or wants to give chase. It was just too….electronic.I’ve seen the little ball part sold separately as a cat toy, but I really doubt they’d even be remotely interested without the fabric cover. Cats are finicky and if you have one, you know you have a 50-50 chance of them liking something, whether it’s a toy, food, or litter box. Your cat might go for this, especially if they don’t get much play or stimulation. Ours are constantly playing with each other and a few other toys, so I think they were either more interested in organic play or smart enough to figure this one out too quickly. As a product, it’s fine and works as intended. I gave it five stars for that reason, but if I had to rate it for my house only, it would be 3/5.

Cats watch it but only occasionally play with it
This cat toy keeps my old cats’ attention for a few minutes but they seem a bit scared of the movement. Sometimes they’ll bat at it but most of the time they just watch. The design is a neat idea and it is well made. I’m happy enough with it; I just wish the cats were more interested. I guess watching it is better than they do with most non-catnip toys.

    Love the ball
My kittens love the ball, it lasts a while on a charge and goes into sleep mode after a little. The fuzzy cover is cute and I think my kittens like it. I tried putting it in the mat but then they just lay on it and it is trapped and can’t move around so they get bored. They still like to play on the mat but don’t seem to understand it is more fun if they don’t trap it. The charge lasts quite a while and doesn’t take too long to re-charge. They do loose interest in it after a bit so the auto sleep mode is very helpful. It does go under things like the couch if not in the mat, which can be a problem.
