Ceramic lick mat
I actually didn’t realize it was ceramic until after I’d ordered, but that was a lovely surprise since it’s SO easy to clean (we don’t have a dishwasher)! Our cat tends to gorge herself and then be sick, and we needed to add some meds to wet treats for her, so we needed an appropriately-sized lick mat to help make sure she could actually keep it down. This was perfect. It’s small, effective, easy to wash and reuse, and holds a wet treat well.It did take a little bit of adjustment for both cat and human – I can’t just squeeze the wet treat onto it directly as the treat is too thick and just sits there, I need to mix it with the meds and a bit of water to thin it out so it spreads effectively, making sure the mixture is smooth/combined – but now that we’ve worked it out, she can go nuts and I don’t have to clean up any messes later on!

Big problem solved!
I have a cat that came to us 10 years ago as semi-feral. Even after all this time and with abundant food, he eats furiously as if he’s never going to be fed again. He’s also long-haired, so hairballs can be an issue. Recently, he got into a seemingly endless loop of scarf and barf. He’d eat too fast, then vomitthen eat quickly again because he was hungry. No matter the small amount of food I gave, it was coming back up and there was vomit everywhere all the time. After having him checked out at the vet (who confirmed he was just an anxious eater), I decided to try these. The change has been immediate. Whether feeding soft food or kibble, it has slowed down his eating considerably and the vomiting has ceased.I have a second cat without eating issues, and she’s been using one, also. Both cats are now eating more of their food. Since it’s mashed down in the stubbies, it’s more stable as they lick it up and there is less winding up on the floor over the edge of the plate.Care of the plates is easy. Although I’ve not yet tested them in the dishwasher, I just rinse them in the sink after feedings and let them air dry. I went with these over the many silicone offerings ultimately because i thought the weight would keep them more stable on the floor (it does) and to avoid the ultimate permanence of plastics.Recommend!

Small Plate, not a mat
I’m not sure what I was expecting… I when I think of a “mat” (like a place mat or a welcome mat) I don’t usually think of something that could shatter if it fell. This “mat” is ceramic, like it says, and small. It cleans well, and slows down feeding…. I just feel like the proper way to use this small plate is to train my cat to eat at the dining room table, put a bib on her and have her sit up in a high chair and daintily lick food off the plate. But I don’t feed my cat on the floor nor at the dining room table. She likes to eat on her perch, and I keep wondering when she will lick the mat to the point where it falls off the ledge. So it makes me a little uneasy. So far she has not pushed it over the edge.

awesome.
I previously bought the silicone lick mats for my pet skunk but she was chewing them and biting chunks out of the silicone so I needed something ceramic or hard plastic. I’m so glad I found these! I was worried that without the suction cups underneath, they would move around, but because of their weight, they stay put nicely. I love that they come with little grippy’s for the bottom so it does not scrape against my tile floor. I put cottage cheese, applesauce, or peanut butter on lick mats for my girl with cut up fruit and that worked perfectly on these new ceramic mats. they were inexpensive and they are made extremely well.

Good quality, pretty, useful mats!
I wasn’t sure about lick mats, but I wanted to try it because my cats are very picky and eat too fast or too little. These seemed to help! The mats are flat, and could be difficult to handle because they are shallow and slightly warped, but I solved that problem. I put the two mats (they have rubber feet you stick on) on a couple of paper towels on top of a tray. So when I transfer the mats back and forth to the sink for cleaning and feeding, I just pick up the tray and clean the tray and the mats at the sink. I clean the mats using a dishwashing brush. I think these mats are useful and very pretty! I opted to get the ceramic because of the issue of the cats eating the silicon or rubber ones. Mine would do that, too I’m sure. At first they hesitated, but they are used to them now.

Super easy to clean but also easier for cat to remove food compared to rubbery ones.

Great ceramic slow eating bowls
My cat has been a fast eater (so fast she then has a tummy ache after meals) so I was looking for solutions. At the same time she has cat-acne so I was trying to avoid plastic bowls as per my vet’s advice. I did first try some silicone mats which did slow her down but she had a hard time getting all the food… (and again, not ideal with the plastic). I was excited when I found these to give them a try. With these ceramic bowls she is able to eat all her food and she is still eating at a much slower pace (~3x slower) than just a normal bowl. They are also much easier to clean (I dishwash them and they get totally clean, vs the silicone ones which would hold bits of food, especially if it dried some). The one minor draw back is that they have stick-on silicone bumpons (i’m guessing to keep it in place). One has fallen off already. I think with a high friction surface or mat below though they’re not really needed.I have ordered a second set and they’re now the everyday bowls we use. Overall, great as a non-plastic slow-eating solution!

Perfect for cat who will chew through silicone…
I have a cat who pukes out his food because he eats too fast. I’ve wanted to try a lick mat for the longest time but could never just buy one because they’re all made of silicone and I just know my cat would chew through it with his food if he gets frustrated enough. I came upon this completely by chance. I didn’t even know ceramic lick mats existed. These are very well made and also quite big in size. Anyway this was a godsend and I couldn’t recommend it enough. 10/10!
