Dear Amazon Shopper,I did not want to shell out $80 for a dog bed, but this was really the only one I tracked down that was both sufficiently large and (seemingly) of sufficiently high quality to accommodate my sister’s 80lb German Shepherd (whom I spoil terribly due to her irresistible cuteness). First things first, the dog loves this bed and will stay put when let inside the house (my sister keeps her outside to preserve the furniture, etc, which I find heart-wrenching, but I suppose is necessary). She immediately knew that the bed was meant for her and she enjoys plopping down and sitting with the family in the evenings. Now to the pros and cons.Pros:1 – Large – This bed is very large. It accommodates an 80lb German Shepherd comfortably, which is all I think one could ask for. A significantly larger dog might have trouble, but I suspect you could throw a rug or blanket underneath the bed if dirtying the floor was a concern.2 – Soft – The bed is quite soft and for a dog that is used to sleeping on hard floors, the plush material and faux suede fabric is a huge step up. The dog appears to be quite pleased, so I’m quite pleased.3 – Durable – My sister’s Shepherd is a serial chewer. If she thinks it’s fair game for chewing on, she will attempt to chew it into subatomic particles. When she first sat on this bed, she began to chew on the fabric. With firm (verbal) discipline, she learned that she was not to chew on the bed, but not before several iterations of her chewing on it for a short period prior to my noticing. Given that this dog can obliterate a tennis ball in minutes, the fabric withstood her relentless chewing for longer than I could have reasonably expected and appears no worse for the wear.4 – Shipping Speed – This may have been a fluke but this thing got to me the day after I placed the order. In fact, for a non-Amazon shipper with a shipping charge of only a few dollars, it got here miraculously fast (before Amazon even notified me that the item had shipped). For all I know the factory or distribution center is ten blocks from me and some guy ran it over on foot after processing my order, but whatever the case, it seems that this item ships very quickly.5 – Machine-washable – While you need a colossal washing machine to pull it off, this thing IS machine-washable. You need to stuff the whole darned thing into the wash to get it clean, but it DOES wash.Which brings me to the cons:1 – Difficult to wash – While it’s nice that this is technically machine-washable, it takes an act of God and lots of finger-crossing for this thing to go into and come out of the washer and dryer in one piece. I can’t speak yet to how it will hold up after repeated washes, but I plan to update this if the status quo changes.2 – Expensive – There are a lot of cheaper alternatives out there, but arguably none that have the same size and quality of this bed.3 – Accumulates Particles – While this is to be expected and so is hardly a con, this bed has crevices into which dirt and other particles fall into and accumulate, making the bed appear rather dirty/unattractive after your dog sits on it only a couple of times. While I don’t particularly mind, it’s my sister’s dog (so the bed is in my sister’s house) and she does seem to mind a bit. That being said, she tolerates it just fine for the dog’s sake and its better than having junk accumulate on the floor. Just shake it out every now and again and you should be fine.So that’s the long and short of it. It’s expensive, but so far it looks like a worthwhile investment if you have a rather large dog.Thank you.

Better than the original bagel bed!
Our dog really liked the original Majestic Pet bagel bed, but cleaning the bed was such a challenge, requiring trips to the laundromat to use the largest washer they had and then taking FOREVER to dry. Because it was such a hassle to clean, we didn’t do it that often and the bed eventually just got too funky so we decided to throw it out.When I found this version with a removable cover, I decided it was worth a try. I’m so much happier with this than the original! The removable cover is easy to clean in our home machine, which means we wash it more regularly, so the entire bed never gets as much of a deep stink as when it was one piece. To wash, I vacuum the bed entirely to remove as much dog hair on the fabric and trapped in the corners as possible. I then remove the two inner stuffing compartments and spray them with Febreeze and let them air out while washing the cover. In the warmer months I will sit them out in the sun to get some UV light for extra de-odorizing and disinfecting power. The cover gets washed with regular detergent on cold-cold and then dried on low heat. After washing, the cover is pet hair and stain free and when put back together, the bed doesn’t have a lingering stale dog odor. I haven’t had any issue with the zippers on the cover or refitting the filling back in once the cover is washed. The fill material can get a bit bunched up some times, but its easy enough to refluff/redistribute by hand.We have a 7 year old 65 lb boxer mix and he loves this bed. He often lies in it curled up, will rest his head on the bolster when he wants, and can easily spread out across it and droop over the sides. We got the 40″ suede bed in the color stone and it seems to be an appropriate size for him. The neutral color doesn’t distract from our decor.Overall I’d recommend this pet bed. If you are debating between this version and the original (which is a bit less expensive) I’d opt for this one unless you have a small dog and are getting a tiny bed that you can easily stuff in your home washing machine.Update December 2022: We’ve had this bagel bed for three years (purchased November 2019) and it’s finally due to be replaced. The cover is still in great shape (albeit with embedded dog hairs), but the fill has finally developed a funk we can’t get rid of. I do wish Majestic Pet sold a similar bed with an orthopedic base for just the bottom of the bed. The fill used seems appropriate for the sides but on the bottom it tends to clump up over time and can leave really thin spots. Every now and then our dog will spin and spin and spin and whine because he can’t get comfortable. Our pup is getting older now and as much as we’ve liked this bed for him, I’m debating getting something with better support for his aging joints. He loves the snuggly nest this bed provides, but I just don’t think it’s as supportive as needed for older, larger breed dogs.I’ve emailed Majestic Pet recommending the following improvements that I think would make this bed one of the best on the market:> Have an orthopedic option for the base insert for larger beds. This could be purchased separately and/or as a full bed option.> Some non-stick/grippy bottom on the bed would be nice. Ours slides right across our hardwood floor.> Having separate covers for the two polyfill inserts that would allow them to be washed would be amazing. If you could wash the three parts of the larger bed deconstructed or separately you could actually wash them at home, and it would allow the entire thing to be laundered. If I could wash the polyfill tube, the cover, and then buy an orthopedic foam base, I suspect I’d be using this bed for the rest of Winston’s lifetime.I realize replacing a dog bed every few years is super reasonable, I just hate the idea of chucking this bed in a landfill when a few design choices would be more sustainable and allow us to keep using this bed for our pup for longer.

I got the biggest one for my German Shepard and she absolutely loves it! It was the perfect size for her! It is super easy to clean and wash. The bed is durable, and soft.Update: I ordered a second one for my sisters pit bull.

Our dog (Hamish) enjoys this bed. He uses it as an afternoon snoozing location, scratching the surface, turning around twice (clockwise) and then stretching out for 40 winks between eating, playing and going for a second walk. Hamish is supposed to use the bed overnight which he does so signs of when it’s time for bed, however, he continues to be found in the morning sleeping on one of the sofa’s. We do not believe this is related to the dog bed, simply his way of turning his nose up at rules …..he knows he is not supposed to sleep on the sofa. His previous bed, the one that this one replaced, lasted for many years. The quality of this bed suggests that it will easily last as long.

La verdad temia mucho en la calidad de la cama. Sin embargo, el producto llego en perfecto estado, las dimensiones son como las menciona en la descripcion, y la cama esta el doble de tamaño que mi perrita, pero ella esta contenta con la cama, no toca el suelo, ya que hay como una gran almohada debajo y esta muy suave (yo me acoste en ella xD).Se las recomiendo mucho y el precio es algo alto, pero creo que lo vale. Tengo dos meses con ella, y sigue como nueva. Lo bueno que estaba en oferta esta cama y la aproveche.
