Great outdoor shelter for your cat
This SanGoodier outdoor cathouse would make a wonderful shelter for your outdoor pet cat or neighborhood strays. The cathouse is big enough to comfortably house 2 adult sized cats, maybe 3 in a pinch. I like that the whole unit is elevated off the ground by 5 inch long legs. There is a single point of entry with an eave to keep out the elements and a clear plastic curtain on the inside of the entry to help keep out bugs. There is also a round plastic window so your cats can have some light coming in, or just relax and take in the view of the outside. The house is built on top of a plastic frame with the legs, and is made up of a durable waterproof woven nylon fabric. There is padding and a foil insulation layer inside to make sure your cats stay warm and dry regardless of the weather outside. The cathouse comes with a plastic bottle you can fill with water and freeze. There is a pocket inside the cathouse where you can place the frozen water bottle to keep the cathouse cool during the hot summer months. There is even two envelopes filled with desiccants to absorb condensation that may build up around the frozen water bottle. Once fully constructed, the cathouse feels stable and sturdy, but light enough to move around. There are a few negatives about this cathouse. First, the instructions are pretty bad, I had to intuitively put this together on my own during a lot of the steps. But this is just a cathouse, not a rocket, so you can eventually figure out how to put this together despite the instructions. I question how effective the cooling water bottle will be, it definitely won’t stay frozen for a whole day, but it’s better than nothing I guess. The bigger issue for me is the desiccant envelopes that are supposed to wick away condensation from around the frozen bottle. I fear cats may get into the pocket where the bottle and desiccants are stored and tear up the envelopes and potentially ingest the silica inside the desiccant envelopes. The whole cathouse had a strong plastic odor, I can only hope it will de-gas and dissipate soon. The final issue I have with this cathouse is that I think they should’ve incorporated a covered air vent somewhere on the roof of the cathouse. This would allow for a little air circulation and vent excess moisture that may build up with multiple cats in the house. If any cat comes in wet due to the weather, or just from the moisture in their breaths, I fear moisture can build up on the ceiling and walls. The cathouse is waterproof sealed pretty well, and the inside is lined with the foil insulation material. I’ve had condensation build up on me in my tent while camping, and this cathouse may be no different. All in all, the flaws are relatively minor. The cathouse is very durable and made of high quality materials. I think it will provide ample protection for your furry friends and help them keep out of the elements, especially during rainy days or during the winter. This is an easy 5 stars.

Roomy and well made
This item is well built, easy to put together. It has an entrance that is sheltered from the rain, and an exit that is closed magnetically. The walls are made of the same material that insulated bags are made of, and it came with catnip and a bottle that can freeze. It is very roomy, big enough for two large cats or 3 small ones. I’d say it is a good product, but has a few drawbacks. First, the bottle it came with is so small, it won’t keep anything cool for long. Plus it is so enclosed I imagine it would trap heat like crazy. Second, the exit is magnetized, so a cat would have to push its way out. Probably not a problem for some cats, but my picky cat refuses it. Third, there is no place for the catnip. There is a pocket for the ice pack, which is where I put it, but it is accessible so I can see cats trying to get it and tear it open. Last, my cat did not like it. I don’t know if I got a used one that smelled like another cat, or if he sees it as some kind of trap or carrier, but the day after we got it he pooped on the guest bed. This is something he does when he is stressed out, and this is the new thing, so it had to be this. I would say if you have some stray cats, or ones that are not fraidy cats they will probably be fine. But for my pampered boy, it was a hard no.

On the lower side of shelter prices. Easy to assemble. Stable.
I actually love this style of cat shelter. What I like about them is they are not too difficult to put together. And you can break them down and store them very easily. They are also some of the lower priced types of shelters. What I liked about this item in particular is the water bottle which you freeze to place inside a pouch located inside the shelter. It’s supposed to help cool it. I don’t know if it really helps but it should. The entire unit inside is lined with insulated foil. It comes with stakes, I’m assuming to tie it down, in case of strong wind. There is a covered access hole for a cord if you need to add a warming mat. It has a front entrance and a secondary exit. The only concern I have is whether or not it will keep rain out as the roof is 2 pieces, and where they come together it’s just overlapping Velcro. I have mine under an awning on my patio just in case. Otherwise, it does feel stable after assembled. And I am overall pleased with it.

Cooler on Stilts
Easy to put together. No weird smells. Not sure the cat likes or uses it. The bare aluminum inside seems a bit overwhelming. Question the longevity or ease of cleaning, but it should last a season.
