Simple, great for the price
I bought this for my older dog to have a snack during the day to help his acid reflux )and I didn’t need one with a camera and a microphone, lol). It worked so well that I bought a second for our other dog. It is perfect for what we needed. It is simple and easy to use and super easy to keep clean. Only 2 things are important to note: the ice pack is small and thin, so if you need fresh food to stay chilled for more than 2 hours this is not the feeder for you (we only use it for dry snacks) and when the battery is low you don’t really know, it just stops running. We use it on days we are both gone for 6+ hours and one day the first feeder didn’t open because the battery died. At a later time when we were gone overnight I put a fresh battery in to be sure it would open. I think they are great and serve the purpose well. Thumbs up. 🙂

Great simple product that works as expected, but hard to be precise with timer.
This product worked surprisingly well. My expectations were low because of the price, but it does exactly what it is supposed to.Our cats both were able to eat from it when it opened in the morning, and had to work a little harder than they do when eating from their regular bowl, but I actually thought that was a good thing. Our cats both have flat faces, so many food bowls make it challenging for them to eat from but they didn’t really have any difficulties with this.The reason for only four stars, is that I bought two because we have two cats, but the timer is just a simple analog timer, a dial that you turn to set how many hours until the lid opens. It is difficult to be precise with this which is an issue for us because if they don’t both open at the same time, one cat will eat from the first to open and then wait for the second and eat that too, leaving nothing for the second cat. If they open at the same time, they both get a chance because they are not in the same location.If you have just one cat, or cats that share (I doubt it), and all you need is something cheap and simple to open on a timer, then I definitely recommend this product. I have tried three for three days now to set the timer so that both open around about the same time but they are always at least 5 minutes apart so I will probably try one of the more expensive feeders that has more precise control over the timer.We did not use the included ice pack (under the lift-out tray) but were happy that it was included in case we wanted to use wet food. Since we didn’t use it, I don’t know how effective this product is at keeping wet food cold.

This is the backbone of our household
My older dachshund is getting more stubborn the older he gets. About two years ago, he decided to start waking us up for his breakfast earlier than usual. My husband gets up at 4:30, so he started with 4. And then 3:30. And then 2 am. Then 1:30. We tried to train it out of him, but he is just too stubborn and honestly too old to fight it, so after many sleepless weeks, we decided to try an automatic feeder. We tried a fancier electric one (we nicknamed it “robot dad” since my husband is usually the one that feeds him the morning and this was his replacement.) That clogged, broke, and left him hungry and barking at 1:30 again within a couple weeks. Then we tried a less high tech one (“robot step-dad”) that could hold three servings. Since he could smell the other servings of food, puppy would sit and cry until resorting to pushing the thing around the room until he finally broke it and got all the food. This timed feeder was our last resort option and it saved our lives. We dubbed him “new robot step-dad” and he is the backbone of this household. For two years we haven’t had any issues with robot step-dad and we’ve had a lot of wonderful sleep while he does the heavy lifting. Our dog is usually pretty rough with it, pushing it around the room and occasionally flipping it upside down while trying to lick the bowl, and we had no issues.Recently, my poor old doxie had to have surgery due to a particularly nasty ulcer and unfortunately lost his eye. He is feeling better, but has to wear a dreaded cone for three weeks while he heals. He hates the cone, but especially at night because it’s harder to eat his 1:30am food. We’ve tried some work around and have survived for a week, but last night we woke up to him trying to flip robot step-dad sideways so the food would fall out and instead flipped him up so he fell hard against the floor The plastic machine cracked at the hinges. Crazily enough, it still works, but it’s on its last legs. I panicked thinking it was broken and realized that we cannot live without this thing. I jumped into to order a backup just in case robot step-dad does break.All in all, sturdy enough to survive my dachshund’s stubborn reign of terror, the container is dishwasher safe, and saves our sleep, so this is a necessity in our household. We will get a card for robot step-dad this Father’s Day.

Spinner stops working…
Update 1/27/20: I’ve already gone through 3 others since my original order. I’m about to return the 4th. The spinner stopped working after about 2 weeks on each and I ordered 2, one for each cat. You’re better off ordering one that dispenses food vs this one. This feeder truly sucks!Original review:Just received these yesterday and set up was super easy. I have two cats and bought two separate ones because they’re very territorial about food. As you can see in the video, my strongest cat couldn’t figure out how to turn the tray. This morning I woke up with no desperate cries for food and I set them up to feed them every five hours, But smaller amounts for their snack time. So far it works very well and I’m hoping that continues. It’s definitely worth buying two of them for multiple cats. Each feeder takes four AA batteries (purchased the Amazon basic batteries) and make sure to have a Phillips screwdriver so that you can unlock the battery compartment. Enjoy!
