    Game-Changer for Cat Owners!
The PetSafe ScoopFree SmartSpin has completely transformed litter box duty in my home! The self-cleaning feature lets me go weeks without scooping, and the sealed waste drawer keeps odors under control so well—no more stinky surprises when I just want to come home and relax. Plus, the fact that it works with any litter made the transition super easy for my cat. I’m currently using Pretty Litter and it works great.I also love the SmartSpin app, which gives me real-time updates on my cat’s weight and bathroom habits—such a great feature for keeping an eye on his health. It’s easy to deep-clean, quiet, and I can imagine would work extra well for a multiple cat household. If you’re tired of daily scooping, this is 100% worth it!

    Worth it but not perfect.
First are these worth the money? Yes.I have two of these for my four cats. I bought them within two weeks of each other and have had them about a month. They aren’t perfect but they are much more convenient and less smelly than regular litter boxes. Before, I was scooping poop daily to every other day out of four litter boxes. They would get smelly in a hurry because my cats aren’t bright and don’t always bury their poop……and I also had to do full litter changes quite often. So it was costing a lot to keep them clean. With these, I change out the bags about twice a week and just add a few cups of litter. These use considerably less litter and with the amount of $ I’m saving on cat litter, these things will pay for themselves in 6-8 months. That said, they aren’t perfect. I’ve given up keeping them connected to the WIFI. They won’t stay online. It’s so incredibly annoying to pay so much for something and one of the features not work. I’ve seen numerous comments about this from other reviews and hope Pet Safe will get its act together. Also, sometimes poop or litter clumps will stick to the walls of the thing and not drop into the bin. So if you buy these, hold on to you litter scooper—you’re still going to need it.Speaking of the walls of the thing, you’re going to need to wipe them down occasionally. You’re also going to need to wipe down the grate thingy too because bits of litter will get stuck to it as well. Also, keep a mat outside of the litter box. Sometimes the clumps bounce out of this thing into the floor.I do like the convenience of it though overall. It does need some fine-tuning. Maybe future models will be better. It would be neat if they could offer just a regular version that doesn’t have wifi connections or an app. It can cut manufacturing costs and pass the savings on to the customer. That part of it doesn’t work anyway so what is the point in having it?Anyway, as far as noise goes, it runs pretty quiet. It does beep when a cleaning cycle is complete but that’s not a dealbreaker.Overall, they are worth the cost for the convenience because the basic functions work and that’s why I was buying this anyway.Update: January 2025. I posted my original review in August 2024 after having these for a month.I’ve had them 6 months now and am still quite happy I bought them. No more daily cleaning. I still only have to change the bags 2x per week. It was great when I had pneumonia and could not do most household chores.Bear in mind, these still require regular maintenance. They need wiped down occasionally (maybe once a month) and a good deep-clean every once in a while (maybe every other month)—just like with any other litter box.Even with that, the convenience and the amount of money I’ve saved on cat litter make them worth the investment.I don’t even use the app anymore. I’m just glad I don’t need the app for them to do what they need to do. They work fine without it and I’m okay with that. Again, it would be cool if Pet Safe made an app-free version and passed the savings on to the customer. It should be optional. The app is truly is awful and useless.

    Convenience Meets Feline Hygiene
This automatic litter box has been a fantastic upgrade for managing my cat’s litter situation. I found this one to be a well-rounded option with its smart features and app connectivity. The setup was straightforward, taking only about 15 minutes to assemble and connect to the app. One of the most appealing aspects is its compatibility with any litter, which eliminates the hassle of sourcing specific brands. Once operational, the SmartSpin function worked smoothly, thoroughly sifting through the litter to separate waste and keep the box clean. My cat took to it quickly, thanks to the spacious design that doesn’t feel confining. The app control is so convenient. Being able to monitor my cat’s usage and receive health insights gave me a sense of security. For example, the app tracked the frequency of visits, which could be a helpful indicator of potential health issues like urinary problems. All I had to do was empty the waste bin at the end of the cycle, and the process was hygienic and mess-free.Satisfaction with Packaging: The product arrived securely packaged with clear instructions and all the necessary parts. Each component felt sturdy, and the litter box itself is well-constructed and durable.Likelihood of Recommending: I’d highly recommend this to any cat owner looking for a more hands-off approach to litter box maintenance. It’s especially helpful for busy households or those managing multiple cats, as the automatic cleaning feature saves time and effort.Price Reasonableness: While this litter box is on the higher end of the price spectrum, the convenience, smart features, and compatibility with any litter make it a worthwhile investment. Considering the long-term savings on time and effort, I’d say it’s worth the splurge.Overall, the PetSafe ScoopFree SmartSpin balances convenience, innovation, and hygiene perfectly. It’s a thoughtful product that prioritizes both the owner’s ease and the cat’s comfort.

My cat poops as if he were a grown man instead of a regular-sized tri-pawd cat. Scooping his litter was so easy to neglect because of the stench and wanting to be far away from it.. And now I can leave the task for just about 2 weeks! He has always adjusted well and quickly to new litter boxes or actual litter, and he was keen to start using this one. I let his old litterbox get filthy so he had a transition period, but I don’t know if he really needed it.It’s a good size for my small laundry room, and my cat doesn’t struggle climbing into it despite missing a hind leg. It’s a bit of an adjustment learning to clean it, but I’ve had it for just about a month and recently completed the first deep clean. It is a little annoying to take apart for the big clean, but I switched crystal litter to clumping litter hoping I can reduce the frequency of the deep clean. I have a hard time finding replacement deodorizers, but so far I haven’t found a huge difference going without them. The app is handy too, lots of how-to threads to help when things aren’t working right (for me, that was not remembering how to turn on add litter mode.)Highly recommend, I’d rather have an infrequent deep clean than scooping every day. I am happier because of this!

I have three cats, one of them a senior. I have a nice litter space in my basement storage room with a Litter Robot 4, but my senior cat now needs a litter box upstairs as well. I didn’t have two Litter Robots kinda money, and the hallway I have this in is too small for a big ole Litter Robot anyway, so after months of looking at questionable fly-by-night dropshipping options and seeing horror stories about unsafe automatic boxes, I saw this one by a brand I actually recognize, at a price point that seemed more sensible for a secondary litter box, and snapped it up instantly. Of course, now all the cats prefer it, but what can you do!This bad sally does periodically malfunction and decide to only spin halfway, and I find the button to add litter doesn’t seem to work to turn on the add litter function 95% of the time so I have to unplug it and plug it back in and do a hard reset when I add litter, but honestly, for the price I really don’t mind! My cats all use it happily, it is roomy enough for my big 14 lb orange cat, and with three cats using it regularly I’d say I have to empty out the drawer maybe twice a week? And it doesn’t require proprietary bags, which is a huge bonus! We have municipal compost that takes cat litter, so I just line the drawer with the larger size compost bin bags and that makes my life super easy. The only thing I wish was that the little lip at the bottom of the drum was a bit taller because my cats do kick a fair bit of litter out over it, and sometimes when it spins litter clumps will fall out the front, but once again for the price I really don’t mind.It was easy to put together, with clear instructions and well-labeled pieces that all clicked together like a total breeze. I put it together by myself in less than a half hour, I’d say, and the app was easy to set up to. It has a small footprint for my crowded upstairs hall, is attractive with its little wooden legs, and is a cat-safe design that spins side to side not front to back like a lot of other models at this price point that have been known to injure cats.It definitely doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the Litter Robot 4 and the construction isn’t as “solid” and contained, but genuinely, I’ve been very happy with it. The app works well, and the box low enough the ground my senior cat can still enter it easily although he is still spry enough to get up onto his cat tree and furniture so if your cat struggles with even small jumps you might prefer the Litter Robot with its built in step up. I don’t regret this purchase at all, and think it was well worth the price I paid for it.

Not even once have I been able to activate the add litter function. I followed the instructions, but holding the button for any length of time has zero effect. This leads to the litterbox always falsely sensing a cat inside. The only way to fix it at that point is to unplug it and plug it back in, causing it to lose every setting. The sifting panel constantly comes out of its position making it useless. The collection bin sensor often does not warn you about it being full, and it will just smear it’s contents across the entirety of the rotating spheres exterior. Which, thanks to the magnetic cover, can go unnoticed, visually at least…Overall, there’s not really anything good that I could say about this automatic litterbox.
