Perfect for United airlines
I bought a few carriers before this one and this was perfect for what we needed. We have a 12lb shih tzu and it’s perfect – sturdy, collapsible, expandable, plenty of ventilation, and fits the requirements for United Airlines. For US domestic flights, specifically into California, a health certificate was not needed, but “highly suggested” but they made sure the carrier was within guidelines as check-in, and it was perfect without question. For those of you trying to select which seat works best, window seat towards the middle of the plane is best as it has the widest underwear space so you can expand one side of the carrier for the for more space and comfort for your pet. I hardly write reviews, so this one was a winner for me. Good luck on your travels with your pets!

Durable…Multi-use…Pet Carrier
It packs well for travel. It was a life saver traveling from Mississippi to California with our new puppy. Our pup was safe, comfortable and had lots of room to stretch. The various options of access, so the functionality of it made it incredibly easy to access. Very durable and worth the value.

Highly impressed, quality sturdy material and a beautiful design with lots of access options and doors and collapsible sides, and entirely foldable for easy storage. The reason I ordered this product (in small) is that it’s the only one I found that complies with the measure requirements for in-cabin travel on international flights. It fits my cats and my small dog perfectly. They range from 3 to 4.5 kg (6.6 to 10 lbs). It’s not very big – which is why I chose it – but it’s big enough for them to lie comfortably, and when I open the side « wings » they have a lot of space. I like it so much I just ordered 3 more for the entire family.

Great cat carriers
I had to drive my cats about 1000 miles when we moved to another state. I got these several weeks before and opened them up fully and put them around our living/dining room with some catnip in them to get the cats used to them. Worked like a charm. When I drove them, I opened one side and kept the other zipped so I could buckle the carriers in place in the car. The padding inside made the cats comfortable for our long journey. We stopped for an overnight at a hotel, & they were sturdy enough to stack on top of each other with the sides zipped up on the luggage cart to get the cats safely to our room. These gave me great peace of mind.

UPDATED REVIEW: Ideal for Dachshunds!!
As promised, I am writing this review after a 20 hour trip to Europe from the USA. This carrier was reliable, sturdy and secure throughout the whole trip. I took a total of 3 flights (2 with Delta, 1 with Alitalia) let me start by adding that I am also 6 months pregnant and managed this by myself! That speaks volumes on how reliable the carrier really is. I will suggest you not pick a 2 seater by the windows on delta because you will be cramped up for space. Luckily the flight attendant was a sweet lady and got me a seat in the middle rows on the aisle and I had an empty seat next to me so there was plenty of room for me to stretch out. I was even able to take him out the carrier and let him sleep on the seat discreetly next to me. The only thing I would change is the faux fur lining on the inside, I felt it made it hot in the kennel for my pup when it was all the way zipped up. But other than that, this carrier was amazing. It fit perfect under Alitalia’s seats as well. Highly recommend this carrier and especially for dachshunds who have a longer build!!! Look no further, this is the carrier for your fur baby. The expandable sides are super comfy and spacious!PS: this carrier did NOT come with the rolling attachment, it was from another carrier that I bought.

Best idea for a carrier yet.
Is this the best carrier? It all depends on what you want/need. What I wanted: something for air travel. That opened at the top so I could drop my well-behaved but anxious traveller into the carrier instead of pushing her in (that seemed like a nightmare scenario for security!). The dog is a “larger” small dog, and although I knew she’d just sleep on the flight, I wanted to provide her with a little extra room for in the airport. This works on all accounts. And I took the advice of a poster who wrote in the Q&A about air travel who wrote: “All you need to do is remove two fiberglass rods running along the top that provides stability for the length. There are slots inside that let you remove these easily. You can always put them back later, but if you don’t take them out, you will never be able to push this under the seat.” And she was right! You don’t have to rip it open or anything…just take the rods out. Heck–in a pinch, you can do it on the airplane. Its that easy. It still has enough shape because of the wire along the ends so as not to collapse on the dog/cat, but it makes the bag easily morphable in terms of height. It probably would be squishable anyway, but no one wants to get on the plane and have to start muscling their dog under the seat. My dog is anxious enough! Side-by-side, its the exact same size as my large Sturdibag carrier which is guaranteed to fit on flights (which I like, but I really wanted the porch for the longer flight!), and is entirely squishable, just like the sturdibag. Its not as well made as the sturdibag, so I’m suspicious about durability, but for a couple uses a year, I’m sure it will be fine. Please note: You really have to be into pushing the limits on size to get this bag. *If you do not need the extra inches, then get the medium.* The difference in size is really not that significant for a smaller animal. Although my dog is only 10 lbs, she is tall and long, so for a long flight, those extra inches in height and length mattered to me. My airline also only posted “suggested” limits for a soft sided carrier of 18x11x11, since they acknowledge their squishablity. Since that is their written policy, I wasn’t worried about being stopped at check-in with a rigid interpretation, I was just worried about being physically unable to get it under the seat. Now that I know I can, I’m not worried. If your airline has more stringent requirements, you may get stopped at check-in or boarding if they bring out the ruler. In which case, the squishability will be moot because they won’t let you on the plane.

My cat hates travelling and even though we don’t do it much when we do its usually 3+ hour drives and I wanted to upgrade her carrier to make her more comfortable. This carrier is great, lots of options to set it up, my only wish is that it was a little taller for her to stand up but this would probably make it not TSA compliant so I understand. My remedy is to place the carrier on one side so the mesh extension opens upwards and she can sit fully upright and look out the window and this seems to make her happier than having it oriented the normal way. She likes it so much (outside the car) that inside the carrier when everything is opened up is now one of her favourite spots to sit and nap in my house.

There should be some air mesh at the sides where it folds open. Other than that it’s a good product.
