Cat loves it! Stimulation, Exercise, Playful, Engagement, Curiosity,Coordination,Activity,Enrichment
This flapping emperor penguin toy from Potaroma ended up being way more of a hit than I expected—it blends all the things cats seem to go wild for: movement, sound, soft textures, and of course, catnip. The idea is simple but smart: it’s touch-activated, so the moment your cat bats or swipes at it, the wings start flapping like it’s trying to take off, and a surprisingly realistic chirping sound kicks in too. The whole effect is pretty convincing and absolutely grabs a cat’s attention, even if they were just casually strolling by a second before. The plush itself is nicely made—soft but not flimsy, and about the right size for cats to pounce on, carry, or “bunny kick.” There’s a small pouch of catnip tucked into the belly, which works well to entice interest at first, especially if your cat is sensitive to catnip (some definitely respond more than others). The chirping isn’t super loud, but it’s distinct enough to spark curiosity. My cat went from mild interest to full-on wrestling mode after a few flaps. One thing I appreciated is that it doesn’t keep going constantly—once your cat stops playing with it, it goes quiet and still, which helps conserve battery life and keeps it from being annoying in the middle of the night. It charges via USB, and the charging mechanism pops out easily so you can clean the plush body if it gets slobbery or covered in fur (which it probably will). I charged it once and it lasted quite a while between sessions, and the fact that it doesn’t require replacing batteries makes it a more sustainable choice in the long run. It’s a nice middle ground between a passive toy and one of those expensive robotic ones that constantly require attention or repairs. This would make a fun gift for just about any cat—especially indoor kitties who get bored or need more stimulation. It helps promote movement, adds variety to playtime, and gives them a sense of “prey” that taps into their natural instincts. Bonus points if you sprinkle a little extra catnip on it or leave it out in a fresh spot every few days to keep things exciting.

Such a fun toy. It will entertain everyone for hours!
Rarely have my cats, one in particular, shown so much attention to a cat toy before it was even out of the box!My large fella, Mischief hasn’t shown much interest in toys since we rescued him in Nov ’24. Food, yes, cat toys, not so much. Well, he got a whiff of this Penguin while it was still in the white, plastic Amazon envelope & went crazy over the box before I could get the penguin out! It was hillarious! I’ll post a couple of pics. This is a very cute & well made toy. They must use industrial strength catnip in these toys b/c two of my cats were going bonkers over the toy and the box it came in. Wearing it on their head like a hat. Now that was really funny! The Penguin comes fully assembled & charged, so all you have to do is open the velcrow & slide the switch to the on position. The penguin sounds are realistic and it flaps it’s wings intermittently. It powers down if there’s no interaction after 10 seconds but once it detects movement, it starts up again. Penguin has become my big fella’s favorite toy. He plays with it throughout the day & carries it into bed with us at night. The box it came in, equally entertaining. It was full of their catnip mixture aroma and the boys bat it around, roll with it, stick there head inside & that’s how it becomes a hat.I saw that they liked the toy so much that I ordered a package of their cat attractant which consists of Catnip, Silvervine & dried Gall fruit. It was a very generous supply and helps to refresh the enticing aroma after it fades or if you should have to wash to penguin, after removing the motorized parts inside, of course. We’ve tested out lots of cat toys and I have to say, this is right up there at the top. In the video Michief loves, loves, loves his penguin. His pal, Buddy, keeps trying to get in on the action but Mischief isn’t going to give it up. They both absolutely love it!! I think it’s fantastic that it’s rechargable & they include a usb cord.

The purr-fect prey for playful paws and wagging tails!
This is absolutely the cutest little toy! It makes a soft, somewhat sad chirping noise that actually makes me feel a bit guilty letting my cat and dog “attack” it. My dog, who has a very strong prey drive, is obsessed and wants to tear it to pieces whenever it moves or makes sounds.Interestingly, my cat wasn’t interested at first when it was chirping and flapping on the ground. But the moment I placed the little bird on the counter to charge it, she went full hunter mode—stalking and playing with it quietly in the corner. Unfortunately, my dog quickly stole it from her, so they’ve been tag-teaming the toy. Charging is easy, simply pull the velcroh fabric strips apart and insert the charger. It doesn’t come with a wall-wart–just the cable. But that’s pretty standard these days.I ended up having to stash the toy in a drawer and leave the charging cord hanging out so the cat can’t sneak it away. The cat is obsessed with playing with it whenever she can grab it from the counter, but if I give it directly to her and set it to chirp, she’s not interested. The toy seems fairly durable, but only if you don’t have an overly aggressive dog. My dog’s enthusiasm means she can only play with it during supervised sessions. If your pets are rough players, this toy likely won’t last long.Overall, it’s super cute, fun, and well-made. It’s perfect for cats or dogs with a strong prey drive, but keep in mind it only has one speed/interaction setting—unlike some toys that offer multiple levels, which I wish this one had.

Cute penguin toy – dog loved it more than cat.
This little penguin is adorable! The little flapping wings and chirping sound got my cat initially intrigued, but then my dog interfered, and wanted to grab it. So now my cat is a little scared of it if I turn it on. I basically have to keep it out of reach of my dog or else she’ll take it. So typical cat, my Luna liked the box better that the penguin came in! I would still recommend this toy if you don’t have a dog that wants to hog all the cat toys.
