    knot what I hoped for
Photos after dog’s first interaction with the toy, after a few minutes. This is a cute take on the snuffle toy, but unfortunately it is not made for dogs with teeth. The concept is great: stuff treats in several pockets (each of which allows up to 4 small treats stuffed in corners, or one larger treat) and tie the toy in a knot. It provides the dog with four appealing things: the novelty of the toy, squeakers, the challenge of the treats, and the extra challenge of un-knotting the toy to access the treats. Knots aren’t as intuitive to dogs as they are to people, so unknotting can actually take some time on the first exposure. The material has a loose weave, so it is not especially strong and was easy for my dog to puncture with fairly casual play. But what I’m most disappointed in is the design of the treat slots themselves: there is no reinforcement around the edges of the + shaped treat slots. It took my dog seconds of fairly gentle inquiry make one fray.Priced at $24, I would expect at least some reinforcement or an alternative design for the treat slots. As is, this is extremely poor value for money.

    Best for Small Dogs
I have a Dutch Shepherd who needs a lot of mental stimulation, and he loves to use his nose. I’ve tried other products from this brand with great success, so I was excited to try the Knotty ball out with him. While he enjoyed it, it definitely isn’t meant for the majority of dogs who probably need this type of enrichment toy. It’s quite a bit smaller than I expected, and the quality of the material is not great. The flaps to hide any kibble or treats are very tiny, and it was easy for him to tear bits off. It’s also pretty hard to clean everything out, especially if you use it in any type of water (it does say it floats, which it does but…). I mostly ended up using it as a tug toy, and his bite strength meant that it stretched and frayed pretty quickly. I think this toy is probably best for small to medium sized dogs, and definitely NOT for dogs who chew. Overall I like the concept, but I think it needs to be marketed more towards the smaller guys.

    Useless and dangerous!
Useless and dangerous. The treats are meant to be put into tiny flaps of fabric, which are too small for even a single kibble, and are simply flaps that don’t close or hold anything in place. You are supposed to put treats in these little flaps (which cannot hold onto anything) and then tie the toy in a knot. I couldn’t get a single kibble to stay in place, so I just tied the toy in a knot and handed it to my dog. She had it untied before I could grab my phone to take a picture, and immediately began ripping up the toy. I had to take it away in less than 30 seconds, because she had already torn off one of the flaps and was pulling long strings from the fabric (extremely dangerous if ingested). Stay far away from this thing.

    Lasted less than an hour
I have a small dog…so not a large breed with huge teeth or jaws. She was able to shred pieces of this toy in less than 1 hour. The little “pockets” you’re supposed to put treats in are useless. They are very soft and loose, and don’t actually hold the treat. However, she was able to take one of these “pockets” and shred it completely. I ended up having to cut away the rest of them with scissors as she’ll do the same with those as well given some time. I also don’t understand the placement of the squeaker inside. This is a long toy you’re supposed to tie into a knot. But there is only ONE squeaker and its placed close to the middle of the toy. So when tied in a knot my dog can’t access it. So again, useless. She likes the soft chewable aspects of the toy. I have no idea how long it will last. So I’ll continue to give it to her until/unless the entire thing gets shredded. But for the price, there is no way a simple soft chew toy is worth this price. I cannot recommend it.

    Made Well
This item is made very well. It looks like a fabric pool noodle twisted into a knot. Feels like the outer material is the firehose fabric with a fluff center. There is a small compartment for stuffing a treat into – one with scent like Pupperoni works well to motivate “snuffling” or search which engages a dog’s brain by problem solving with immediate + reward (behaviorism). Its a small compartment. This type of toy is useful for distraction as say you run out the door to avoid puppy dog eyes (& the resulting guilt). For playing with a dog minus treating works as a “ball” or as a tug noodle.I have a working dog so use this to drill.

Entertaining for the dog and us. It was fun to watch him.
This is a very fun, interactive toy. I didn’t know what to expect, but it’s great. Now, I didn’t see any useable pockets for the treats. There are flaps, but they wouldn’t hold anything. The treats kept falling out. So I just knotted the toy up, then put the treats into the creases. My dog had a blast with it. It only took a couple of minutes to unknot it. When it comes loose, it’s oblong, and it has a squeaker in it. It’s made from polyester and nylon. It looks pretty tough, but a strong chewer could destroy it. My dog used to tear up everything, but he’s 5 now, and he’s mellowed out. This toy would be fun for any sized dog.

    Poor design
Race&Herd Snuffle Ball for Dogs with Rope, Dog Sniffle Interactive Treat Toy, Braided Knotted Rope Ball Dog Toy, Enrichment Puzzle Toy for Training and ForagingI’m always looking for ways to keep my high energy dog entertained so I was hopeful we’d get some good use out of this toy. The six pockets are so small that they barely fit two pieces of puppy kibble on each side–much less full-sized treats such as freeze dried liver–and the treats fall out when you tie it into a knot. My dog used it one time and completely destroyed the toy pockets so now it’s pretty much just a tug of war toy.
